FOCUS: SACP Commemorates Joe Slovo's life.
INTRO: The South African Communist Party was today commemorating the 31st anniversary of the death of struggle stalwart Joe Slovo. Slovo died on 6 January 1995 and was a founding member of Umkhonto weSizwe, a former SACP General Secretary, and a Minister of Housing in South Africa's first democratic government. The commemoration took place at the Heroes' Acre at Avalon Cemetery in Soweto. SACP General Secretary Solly Mapaila delivered the keynote address, alongside alliance partners including the ANC, COSATU, the Young Communist League of South Africa, and Contralesa.
