Newly elected Limpopo ANC chairperson Dr Phophi Ramathuba has thanked her predecessor, Stanley Mathabatha and former deputy chairperson Florence Radzilani for bringing stability to the party. Mathabatha has announced retirement from active politics. Former deputy chairperson, Radzilani, didn't make it in the top five but was elected as an additional member of the provincial executive committee. Political analyst, Dr Ongama Mtimka says the ANC seems to be facing credibility crisis. This after some party members in Limpopo and the Eastern Cape took the party to court accusing it of flawed processes ahead of the elective conferences in the two provinces. In Limpopo, the case was dismissed and the conference went ahead to elect a new leadership. In the Eastern Cape, the High Court issued an interim order stop the conference from going ahead. KwaZulu-Natal Premier - Thami Ntuli - says Lt. General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi's contract as the provincial police commissioner has been renewed. Ntuli made the announcement at a crime imbizo in the Pietermaritzburg area today. He earlier expressed concern about a lack of clarity in the status of Mkhwanazi's contract as it was to expire at the end of this month. Ntuli had met with national police commissioner - Fani Masemola - several times to discuss the matter. In accordance with the constitution the national police commissioner appoints a provincial commissioner in concurrence with the provincial executive, represented by the premier.
