This week marks 70 years of Aussie TV. It was on this day in 1956 that Channel Nine
launched its first broadcast to the country, beginning a new era of television in
Australian homes. From the early days of black-and-white television to the huge range of programs and streaming services available today, television has become a major part of Australian
life.
To mark the anniversary, the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia has been
revisiting some of the programs and moments that became part of Australian
television history.
