Gun owners whose licenses have expired will have to surrender their firearms to the police immediately, those who failed to do so will be arrested. In June this year, the Constitutional Court ruled that gun licenses should be renewed periodically. During our Open Line yesterday, several of our callers who are firearm owners called in to express their confusion around the renewal and process of the taking in of firearms with expired licenses. Some expressed their frustration with the police's apparent inability of dealing with firearms handed in to them. So we have decided to invite the South African Gunowners' Association, to get some clarity on the matter and how the process works...
