A landmark court victory for South Africa's youngest citizens. Hundreds of organisations working in Early Childhood Development are celebrating after the Pietermaritzburg High Court ruled that children have a constitutional right to ECD services. The court found that the KwaZulu-Natal Education Department's failure to consistently pay ECD subsidies was unlawful and unconstitutional. The ruling now compels the department to honour its obligations and fund the sector as required.

Guest: Prof Eric Atmore, Director of the Centre for Early Childhood Development
