On the latest episode of the Wine Down podcast, Dwyane talks with Bob and his chef about the Team USA squad for the upcoming Olympics, the new Hall-of-Fame class with Vince Carter and Chauncey Billups, the loaded WNBA Draft and they even get into what-ifs about Biggie and Tupac.
And and I am telling you charm me.
Yes, sir, I already told you about this voice.
Now see you said you can't Mike and a half. It's something about Michael and half. When we can really hear you can hear yourself deeping it down. Yeah, I love it.
It's like that.
Yeah, like I said, he's feeling good about himself. Man, I get it. I'm with you on that. So we are back. Well, what do you mean we're back? We take a break?
Well, you know what, I felt like, I've heard that phrase back more than once from a show.
So we're back. But we're back, you know episode. What's up everybody? We're back with the wine Down digital show, digital show.
Everybody who do not know the wine down has been used on the White Podcast. We had an episode already and we will have another episode coming soon. So this content right here would be using a wind down as we have you know, evergreen content, evergreen conversations.
Rather, is the wind down turned out to what you wanted it to be? As far as it is, it is exactly what we talked about and what I wanted to be. We talked about and you know, obviously it's more. You know, we would love to grow it, and we would love to have the real vision of where we want to go. But right now, in the small.
Space, the content, the conversations that are coming out of the wind down, all the conversations that I that I love to have and that uh, you know that I think are great conversations for especially as me and you as men and you know, as men listening, and even hopefully some women that can you know, that want to listen to them in. You know, all women don't want to listen to them in, but the ones that you know, want to listen them in and see how we think and what we're saying. And especially as we you know, as older man, I think it's just a great platform to be able to you know, to have to have to be able to do that.
So I enjoy sitting here having a.
Glass of wine, talking a little talking to let me cher brother man, it's been a while, so, y'all. I was traveling and I was in Hong Kong, I was in Micale, was in Hong Kong again, I was in Beijing.
I was simon Miami Chicago, Yeah, Miami, Miami, Chicago, the basy stuff like that too.
Because because what is that come on my phone to get fine you know what, you know, I should, you know, we should have a fine bucket, but I can't phone.
Don't even look at my phone. Bro, you know that's your phone. So let me go.
Let me go put my phone on AirPrint. Quick chef, he had order. Yeah, yeah, well I didn't really want to let my first appearance on the show be critique and about but yeah, that's real quick ranging boy. You want to set up who you here off.
The yes, so we'll introduced our brother who.
Of course he's gonna he's gonna talk at a very very wide type voice right now to make sure he outshines us.
Correct, But our.
Brother, Chef Richard Richard ing girl, the chef extraordinary. We ain't got the thing that you can hit the do claps, no claps? Okay, we can do it officially. Is the voice that you hear on the other side of the camera, the deep low voice.
Hey chef, is like he's all of our mentor because you've given us a lot of advice throughout the years, and I appreciate you being here, appreciate you being in town and us trying not this new setup.
You being the first to break it in Yeah, I love it, bro, I love to be here. And I remember when we used to do the what was it called in Miami? I am dropping? Are you talking about kitchen kitchen coo? Yeah? Yeah, So this You ain't new to this, you true? And this is just an extension of that.
This is like you've created a bunch of shows when you think about it the same you ain't new this either.
So like us doing this, this is I love this. It's not new to it.
I think you know, the world has what we were doing, what a lot of people were doing before it had a name to it and a brand to it.
Is what we're doing now that we've done this, and we just we didn't call it a podcast.
We wasn't probably put we put it out here and there, but we we saved a lot of it right and so now to understand, like it's platforms out here for this, it's audience out here to listen and want to hear the things that your experiences. All we talk about is experiences and our thoughts, you know, on topics. But it's good to hear because some some people out there are going to have similar ideas and thoughts. Some out there are not going to know what to think, and then I hear what you said, huh, all right, well I never thought of that, and some won't disagree. But it's great to have this platform to be able to have conversations about, you know, all the things that we talk about.
The microphone was cut off.
So it's a lot of things to cover. But the first that I want to cover is the the NBA Draft. A lot has happened since the last time I spoke Beau. I think we were in the middle of Final four or the middle of the March Madness season, and now the draft has happened for the women and everyone was watching it like that was pretty dope. Like we were we were at the airport and you was like, uh, I gotta go watch this draft, like you was vested, Like I felt like that. Last time I said you did that was when the Heat was drafting many years ago, and you were like, I want to watch the draft.
That was the year just Winslow, justin Winslow. It was at my camp, yes, and you.
Were sitting in front of the TV, same experience, and I'm like, yo, he is like you like I got on the plane last.
Yeah, I got on the plane, like well, you know, we were we were in the roof flying from my me to Chicago to Chicago to LA. We had to do a little statue talk, you know, a little statue visit in Chicago. You know, right now we're in the misst of. I'll see everyone know the statue is coming. No one knows the date, no one knows what it is, but the statue is coming. But it's it's a process to the statue. So we were at our second phase of going and you know, looking at the statue and giving notes and so we're flying back to.
LA and the draft was on. It was on it and it was just like yo.
We went in there and they had all the TV on all kinds of things. I'm like, Kenny, get the draft on, bro, And so they put the draft on right in front of the bar. We sat there, will have some drinks and it actually came on the on the third pick. That was the first pick I seen, and that was a pick the Chicago s guy had. So it was cool sitting there, man, getting the chance to watch once. I've been watching the WNBA draft the last few years and I've seen the growth of the w NBA draft I've seen the growth of you know, of what people are saying on Twitter and what TVs are covering, whatever the case may be. So now sit there and to see other people maybe like looking like what what are they what are they looking at while they're so excited?
You know. Uh, it was cool, man. It was cool to kind of do that environment.
Wasn't that wasn't about basketball, right, and also to to see that to see it's so much more room for growth because everybody in there should have been at the TV Chicago was drafting and we were in Chicago. A lot of people were probably flying through, but I'm sure their team was you know, it was there too. So uh, it was a cool experience. Bro to be able to sit there and watch us get the third pick and the seventh pick, and watch how those picks that we got, Uh, those are really the foundation for Chicago Sky going forward with two young stars you know, coming out of with Camilla Condoza and Angel Rees. Uh just you know, they've been stars since high school and probably even before we knew them. And so to be able to get both of those two together in the same draft as we end up rebuilding place as the Chicago Sky as a franchise, that's the win. So we had we had a great summer, when when it didn't we didn't have any draft picks coming into the summer, we didn't have any momentum to move forward.
And this is the number.
This is the groundbreaking draft class new era that we're in it. So you want to be a part of it. And we were able to be a part of it. To get two of the best players in the draft, two of the best eight players in the draft, and so that that's a win. So was that the plan was to get those two? Did you kind of forecast out? No? Yeah, I mean obviously, you know, the GM has done an amazing job in Chicago. And I talked to the co owners. I talked to the owners, I talked to the coach, you know, everybody about.
You know, just what the idea was.
You know, how did they see the draft and what we we know where our picks was, who they thought and so we just went back and forth. You know, I gave them my opinion. I watched film as well, Hey send me film, let me look at the film. Let me let you guys know what I see. And so we couldn't get Kaylyn Clark. We knew that, I think we all knew we wasn't gonna get Kevin Brake. She's a you know, LA was going to grab her with the second pick. Teacher's from California as well, So that just makes all the sense. But you know, I wanted to look at you know, Famown, Kamila Condoza and Auries and a couple other players that we did not drive, just so I can give my players perspective on you know, the talent that we're looking at. And so just very thankful to be a part of the process. And they did an amazing job of doing all the homework that needed. You know, get credit to our gim and our coach T Spoon. Shout out to Tea Spoon, you know, was a legend in the game of basketball, and it's now our coach for the first year. This is her first draft, and you know, and Anguries is somebody I know that she really wanted it. For her to be able to get her at the seventh pick, that's a huge win. And she fits Chicago. From Chicago, you're gonna, you're gonna, you're gonna, you're gonna mess with injuries because she about that life about that, like like let's go you know what I mean, Like, you know all the cut stuffs that in the locker room. I'm out here to get dirty and you love that. And that's what Chicago love. They love that tough, greedy, you know, mentality. So I look forward to seeing like the journey.
I don't know if you saw that she angel Is put on on Twitter Instagram. She didn't do nickname? You got any suggests?
No, I'm not good at that. I mean, I'm good at nicknames, but it ain't really probably be so I gave you one if you want to give her one, got you, Richard?
I had to be around, you know what I mean? You know, I gotta be around to see her personality and all that. To be like, yo, go nickname for you?
I'm not going, all right, Richard got a name?
No?
You know, you know, I'm not really into sports like that.
You know, you know that.
So, I mean I know of her because of what I've seen, But to be able to have watched her play, to be able to give her a nickname, I can't do that. But I do have a question though with this, with this draft, it has this is something that has been brought up time and time again, and especially with a person that's not into sports like that. You know, boxing is my thing or you know fighting, you know, MMA things like that, but as far as basketball, football and stuff like that, I'm really not into it. So for a person like me to be to even take notice of this, it's a big thing.
Right right.
And what I'm talking about is the difference between what NBA players make and what w NBA players make, because with this draft I'm noticing that it's a big thing now with the young lady. Yeah, the young lady who was was the first number one and Clark, what she's making and it's not a year three hundred and some thousand over is it five years or something?
Four years?
So you know, why is that? Okay, I get it that the w NBA is not as big as the NBA years, but it's money there. There's money out there. So if these if these if these ladies are going out here and they're playing, and I've seen some games, you know, and they're playing, they're doing their thing out there. And from the time that the w NBA started to now I see such growth in the franchise. I see such growth in that arm of basketball. Why aren't these women being paid more than what they're being paid? Because this is actually, in my opinion as a as a chef and as a novice to the to the sport, for someone to give their all and to be playing and you see them doing the work. You see what they're doing, You see what they're producing. These shots are not luck. This is skill, you know what I mean? This is skill? Why aren't they getting paid more?
Now?
Should be getting paid forty million dollars like the NBA players getting played that I don't know. I don't know if they should be getting forty million dollars a year, you know what I mean? But they have to be getting more than three hundred and some thousand dollars for four games for you for years, four years, excuse me.
So so that's that's a tough one. And I'm say it's tough because I don't know how much anyone should get be getting paid.
As far as well let me take you go ahead please, So obviously it's a lot that goes on.
But ultimately, can I say one more thing before because I know we kind of said a couple of times where you kind of said I called it. I was speaking to let people know that your your involvement as far as with the Chicago Sky and that, like, I don't want to people to think you're just a fan of the Chicago skot what you are.
I'm a fan, but I'm as our investor into the ownership group cool one of the investors into the ownership group. I'm not the owner of the team. But you know, people will call it that because you've invested into the ownership group. And so I have my little Okay, but yes, so I say we because I have skin in the game. And when I say skin in the game, I mean money, game money. But so I think the one thing is what people don't understand is it's not it's them. They're not tuning in. They wasn't tuning in the NBA. The players make the money they make because of our TV deals, simil is that? So how do you get TV deals Because you have people that's tune in and there watching. That's where the money is coming from, right. And so the the w NBA has never had a big TV deal. They've always you know, shared it with the NBA. They've gotten a little chip because these big corporations and these big brands have not marketed them. Now you see you see o WNBA and our college women and commercials, they never been marketed like this. You have a Canvas Parker that's been marketed a few here and there, but not the entire league. And so we know how it is in America to behind somebody, to support somebody, You got to build brands and stories.
You got to show people who they are. So they never had no money for TV deals. Do you know where WNBA game come on? What time may come on? No, you don't know, none of us know.
But you know T and T comes on on Thursdays and Tuesdays and the games come off in LA from four point thirty to you go to sleep, right, And so they've never had the money put behind them from these corporations and these brands. And when I say these corporations, brands, I e. The ESPN, the TNTs, the big brands of the world.
And so now that.
Everybody is taking notice because they have now like the stuff that was going on in college like it's been going on, like it's been great players in college back and in the women's game, this is not like you know what Kaylen and Clark is not the first great player, and so they just haven't. They have not showcased it. Now now we're watching, and while we're watching, they performed, But they've always been performed.
If you love the game. Now is the game getting better?
Yeah, the game is getting more exciting, you know, like women are getting more athletic. It's a lot of things that are changing the game. And so now the cameras are there, the cameras are catching it, and we all are watching it. And so as long as we continue to tune in and keep watching and find out where they have in these games, that watch these games, make sure that when they're playing that we're actually getting viewership. Now, when they go to the negotiation table to be able to get more money for the WNBA, it's there from the big brains. And so I think this year they're trying to hopefully get fifty or sixty million for the TV.
Deal the NBA.
I don't know the number, but it's billions, billions billions. Yeah, So that's what the players money is coming in at. So to say that, to say it's only so much money in the pot, everybody has to share out this money that's in the pot. Right, when we talk about private flying, and we talk about you know, hotels, we talk all this come out of this pot, salaries everything, So it's only sixty million. If it's only that much in the pot, then there's only so much money everybody can get paid because the league has to run, lights have to stay on, and so everybody, no one has broke.
Down like what's all expenses? And this is how much money we got to play with?
Right and so and then too at the same time, and it's not an excuse, but the WNBA probably been around for I don't know the year, maybe year twenty nine.
Now, right, the NBA has been around for year seventy nine.
Now, so think about the WNBA and year seventy five, you're fifty, they're going to be at a whole different level. And so right now we in the beginning phases of the infant phase of the rise of women's sports in basketball, because it's been there in tennis, is there in soccer. Now we're in the rise of WNBA and college basketball. So it's just the money that has to come in. And once that money come in, the next TV deal is one hundred and twenty million, then the next TV deal is five hundred million. Now the women's salary goes up and up and up and up. Now the private jets start happening. Now the hotel stays are different because it's all paid for, kind of this pot.
So now we have this this game coming and it looks good.
I know.
I saw something where Kaiten is gonna get an eight figure deal from Nike.
Yeah, yeah, I saw that, and shoes and signature shoe and.
I saw someone say something about the fact that there's not many signature shoes deals in the league, but there's three right now.
None of the players are what you, I guess can kind of expect. I guess.
I think there's three players three the league is seventy percent black, and then the players I got sign shoes are black.
Yeah.
Someone calling Spain and Spade, not saying it's one thing or another. But obviously Kaiten is a baller. She's about woman.
And I didn't know she was that tall. By the way, she's six feet yeah, that's right, I did. He's six feet and nothing. He paid six to two.
Yeah, and she was still staying next to people, and I'm like, WHOA backers off again.
Beckers put it out there. I love page Beckers, she called she can play the game of basketball.
This whole draft to me has been cold.
Yeah, outside of like Juju and not coming out this year, which when she comes, that's going to be another another another waves.
Its waves, coming waves.
Cogenerational talent this year is ready to man, it's just a perfect storm. I mean just even going back to college basketball. When you think about if I'm a brand, if I look at if I can write a script. Everybody talk about these scripts that's written in these leagues, like, oh, it's a script to it. But if I could write a script for how to how to women's college basketball season needs to go? This is the perfect script. The you know, the player that had a chance to you know, break through and break records got a chance to do that in front of the whole world in dramatic fashion. She got a chance to blow up as the best individual player from the standpoint of records and all the things right, the best team that went undefeated this year, they got a chance to win the championship. But in the midst of that, Kaitlyn Clark, who lost to LSU in the finals last year, got a chance to revenge that. To get to the finals you see lost to Iowa last year. They got a chance of review to revenge that. Like everything storyline wise was perfect to us, right, DNA say the best coach coach of the year, Like everything was actually went the way it needed to go. And in the midst of that, it's all good, that's all good, it's all great. But then you got the other side. You got now the people coming out of Woolworths, it's never watched the game, that doesn't know nothing about the game now pointing to say, well, why she only getting three hundred thousand over four years, Why she don't have a single shoe? Watch y'all ain't support team. How you gonna say why somebody ain't got something if you ain't supporting them, Like they ain't got sign shoes because no one has been. They've had a couple of people, but it's not like it's people going out and running to sleeping overnight like they do with Georgian's to go get these signals shoes, and so it has to be built. Kaitlyn Clark has the biggest brand in the world. She became a star in Middle America. That the meat of it is a perfect storm. And so for everybody else to get the signa's shoe. She needs to win because this is her time. But everyone is gonna make it a competition because yes, do Asia Wilson deserves a signats shoe. Yes, they haven't been given out signature shoes like that. And so if you're looking at it from a family like, well, why she get to come in? She and the competence done in the NBA and the Asia got two MVPs and two championships and this and that she don't have one. That's not how it's been working. She will get one, but she coming in with a fan base that's incredible. It's worldwide. So the money is gonna go behind where they know they're gonna get their money. Yet you gotta work hard to build a Brad and Kevin Clark. At this point, it's built. You got to build a brand for everyone else because no one has seen them in that capacity. So Asia, to me, she's up next, right, and should she have one? Yeah, but you don't want to have one if it's gonna shot on the set shelves. And so now this is to me, like Kaylyn coming in and getting this massive deal. They's just open enough for everyone else. You got to have one person to do something before everybody else could do it. And so this eight figure deal, this signature shoe. Okay, so now she set a bar. If you're that great, you need to be trying to get that. And so I love it, but it's gonna be a lot of hate about people who don't really understand how brands work when it comes to giving signature shoes and all these things. They're not giving the signals shoes because they want to. They don't just give signature shoes, especially.
A brand like Nike. It's only a few guys in the.
NBA that have signature shoes and it doesn't even move weight like that always true. So this is a money game, man, y'all gotta understand. So Kaitlin Clark is coming with a whole brand of young girls all around the world that can do what Kaitlyn and Clark do and they want to be her.
We're going to buy her shoes.
If CoV want a hoop, she wants some Clarks. And so, you know, the world like to make it black and white. It's not just black, you know, in all instances. But you got to understand the game and play the game. And so be patient, wait for your opportunity and know that what's meant for you is meant for you. And this is meant for her right now, and it shouldn't be no hate on it because she's going to bring light to all the areas that you need like to be brought to. And if she's really good in a WNBA like she was in college, everybody making money, let's support her. Let's support her because we all gonna make money because she's going to bring in the eyes, she's going to bring in a fan base, and then you're going to be They're gonna see you, They're gonna see you. And so I think it's great, and all the hate that's coming from I hope none of the players feel that way, even though I understand how it is. But if you really sit back and you look at the brand and the business of things, you have to have special people to come along at the right time that you know can burst through, that can break down doors, that can break barriers for you to be able to walk through.
None personal this season coming with this playoffs, who do you who do you see coming out looking at what you're not aware to come out of the East and coming out of the West as it stands right now, that's.
Tough, bro.
You know I don't do that them buy them bullcrap tradition, throwing something against the wall and see if the stick.
Now, sometimes it doesn'times do thing. I look at, it's who I think can win the championship. Who do you think win the championship?
I think I think Denver can repeat, not because no one can beat them, because they can be beaten.
I think that game is perfectly old for this moment.
You ever see Joe, You ever see a joker get the ball and be double team and throw that mug back alive to Eric whout. Look at they know each other, they know they can fill each other.
They know each other. Is most of these teams are still figuring themselves out. Guy just came back from injury. Got this and that. We try to figure out our defensive offense. They are well told machine.
And so when you get into the playoffs, you don't got time to be getting rhythm, to be getting in shape, you know, and all these things that the players are doing, they are already well ordered. So if they're going in healthy, they're the favorites to do it again with you know obviously like MVP player, they can get MVP every year, and then he got the and then he got another star Jamal Murray that we saw that last year since he's been back from health. But he also got the perfect role players m kcp's of the World and Gorge. They got amazing coaches. So like for me, their front runners, not just because they want a championship, because they came back with the bull of their team. They lost Bruce Brown, but the both of their team and they're still just as good. They might have tied for first in the Western Conference. I know OKAC was first, maybe it was first and second, but they still just as good as to winning the championship and they know their game.
And so for me, I'm gonna pick them if I had to pick someone to win the championship. So they can have no chance against them.
I said that, okay, I said. We all feel the Lakers like on the court, through every te Lebron played, we all think you got a chance. Even though we watched them be like nine and ten the last three or four years. It's like it's like the Cowboys.
They got a chance.
So Lebron's playing, yeah, seeking win a championship. But more than likely the numbers don't provide that he can.
But you put them in a series, you think you got a chance.
Right, the best player, if I got the best player on the floor, if I got you know, the smartest player, if I got this, we're tested that, Yeah, I got a chance. Everything gotta work out now. I wanted my brother home shout shout out, to shout out to the boy the brand, you know, I mean, they got my deer over there. I won't. I want the Lakers to be in the finals because way going up, let's go. I'm just telling you from a basketball respective, the team that unfortunately they have to face them, but they if they figure out a way to the throne, the champs, then everybody like, well the Lakers are scary.
Now get the pumpcorn ready, Let's let's see what we got. Let's see what a D and D and these guys got it.
I love the fact that theydn't duckle because I know, did you see that report where they were saying that they should probably sit bron and a D so that they can avoid playing Denver.
Yeah, that's why you don't listen to people. It's like let's let's like Rich tell you that he don't know nothing about basketball.
They should just sit They shouldn't play them, man, they ain't.
You don't. Don't mess with the basketball gods. Don't go out there and blow a game and mess with the basketball gods. That's how people get injured. It's a lot of things that.
Go on when you when you when you with the game. The game.
Yeah, don't listen to the riches of the world, you know not. You know, season, it a basketball So listen to them talking.
All right to a championship party.
That's it.
That's it gonna be called it. You ain't playing you don't know nothing about it.
So now with the end of the season, the Hall of Fame class has been announced. The new Hall of Fame class has been announced. You did that last year? Does it feel like, oh like I kind of did that last year? Like do you see like looking at that as well as well as the Olympic team has just been announced as well.
Yeah, like looking at those two things, do you get like nostalgic? Like what do you feel? I mean, you know that you've been a part of those days and you know how cool they are.
You know, I think For me, I just look at it like, man, this is this is the brotherhood that I'm a part of, the Olympic team is forever. I'll be a part of this Olympic brotherhood. The Hall of Fame. Whoever gets in, they're a part of this brotherhood. I just I look at it, you know, nostalgia. Yeah, I look at the limpits like, oh, I remember in no way boy we were but does it do?
You know what I'm saying.
And so all the players that's playing for the first time, all the players are trying to get a gold medal for the first time. You want them to enter the brotherhood, you know, the gold medal brotherhood. And so I hope they accomplished that.
Yeah.
So that's kind of how I look at it.
Man. It's like, oh, you know, the life goes on general, you know, we keep seeing it, right, the game keeps growing. So I'm excited to see, like what players can accomplish things. And no one has ever accomplished. And when you had it, you had your chance. When it when you don't have it, no more, it ain't your don't don't be a hater with it. Let's see what somebody else can accomplish because all it is is raising the bar for the next generation, all right, Lowell Lebron is doing. It's just raising the bar so high for the next for the next somebody who were either born right now or not born to try to.
Try to catch. But that's our game. That's how our game keep going like this because of the bars to reach.
And so, man, I love it and I can't wait to see the Olympics this summer because it's gonna be it's gonna be good. Bro.
Do you think that any of the guys that are in the Olympics now, you know, with the documentary coming out and everybody seeing what you did when you were in the Olympics, do you think any of those guys will tap into you or any of the players from from that team to say, hey, you know, what should we look for? Or is the game? Has the game changed so much since you were in the Olympics to now to where the advice that you may have to offer doesn't really apply to this game or the way it's played now.
Well, man, the game is different, but the game is the same.
They ain't change the court, they ain't change the rams, they ain't changed how many players on the court at one time. I mean, you know they haven't changed that. So yeah, I think once for one, the Redeemed Team getting a chance to put that story out. It's exposing what we went through in the Olympics and leading up to Olympics and in the Olympics and no one gets to see. And also to what exposes even from my standpoint, is the role that you have to play, right. You got to know where you're go on this libery team. You see that squad, it's Avengers. Everybody ain't gonna better be thirty a night like they are in it. So you got to be able to say, Okay, what role am I going to play? So someone can look at my dock. I mean, someone can look at the Redeemed Team, doc and look at my role on that team and say I'm a because I did that. Charles Barkley was a role that I was like, Oh, Charles Barkley came off the bench. Oh, Charles barcat let the team is scoring on the Dream Team. Oh okay, I could be successful. So oh the Wayne Wade and Charles Barkley. So that's why it's a part of telling that story. So if I'm one of the guys on the team that normally starts his whole life. But now you gotta come off the bench. I'm gonna be the way of this team. I'm gonna be Russell Westbrook of this team.
I'm gonna be.
And so it definitely helps from that standpoint because they only got so much time to make this team make sense, make a jail together. You gotta jail and and everybody can be like bring bring who you are. Got to just a little bit from game to game who you are or what you bring to the game. You got to take your foot off the gas a little bit or sometimes gonna be hey, I can I can guess it now, So you go.
You're gonna have to figure all that out.
And so if some of these guys have not played together, no matter how great they are, they have not played together to know, Okay, on his left side.
He like, he likes this, on his right side, he likes this. I need to know what you like, so I don't have to think.
But sometime you're thinking because you don't know, right And so I think it's it's it's so hard to win it.
Go mettle.
Now that the world has the talent of the world has caught up at first, you just be more talented than everybody.
We can just we're gonna outrun you.
I'll jump you. We're gonna be outstrong you. We're gonna we're gonna intimidate you with our presence. That is that's gone now. Most of the NBA is overseas players, so they know your intimidation factor has gone. You know, Mike used to walk in that ring and up and about a minute then fall. Yeah, intimidation factor that Mike Tyson had. That's what the Limbic team used to have. He's had that intimidation factor because the Dream Team went over there and flexed our muscles in ninety two. And then as the world caught up skill wise and being in the NBA wise and all this, that intimidation factor fail. And so now and uh an intimidation factor that, let I bet you know about it was playing as one of the top teams. Worried about that because they looking at that that roster like, oh, they got a lot to figure out.
Hey, a lot of people need that ball, a lot of people don't play defense. Whatever they think is so they're not worried as as much as we like, oh we read, we got to jail that together. We got to get it right.
And people are going to sacrifice, So what's going to be your sacrifice? So hearing about things before you got there, what do guys do, how are they successful? It's going to definitely help you understand. Okay, this is how I need to approach this. So Bob, I got a question.
Okay, here we go. What we got is that from the Jordan golf course. Is that his logo is that is that Grove twenty three logo? Black Cat? That's the black cat. That's the black cat? All right? So when did you get that? Oh?
So this is many moons ago. We went to Jordan's private golf course. We went to tell us more. Oh man, it was during COVID actually, and who.
Would you go with? Be Michael Jordan's from it of course?
Well so it was fellas you you Richard, Oh myself, I remember that Sky and Dre and David was there as well, and I was in Dupi of Florida and it was awesome. Oh my god, this is what Oh man, it was awesome. So I'm trying to let people know who golf because mind you, I'm not even the biggest golfer.
I haven't hit a whole of one and Pepper beech and like that.
But there are certain rules about golf that I've always appreciated or not appreciated. But that's kind of just how to just deal with right, and Jordan broke them off in the sense of you can drive your cart right to them, anywhere.
Right to it.
Yeah, buddy, you got to drive your car to the side. He don't even have no car paths. I don't know. I don't think you can understand how dope that is.
And I think they go like twenty miles an hour too.
Right, Yeah, yeah, thinks And they have the drones and stuff.
It is.
Beat the food out on the course bring your drink. Tell if by drone. If I didn't like golf before, but I do. Oh I love it. Like that course right there will make you love golf. It's beautiful, it is. It's not hard. It's not I mean golf is hard. Golf is definitely. The course is not set up to be so hard. No, it's not. So you can enjoy playing. If you know how to play, you can enjoy playing. And I enjoyed it. What about the locker room remember we walked in the locker room. They had all our names up on the lockers Experience. Everybody had they all locker you like you in the league.
So so when I find out when you pull up, you see this, You see that. Yeah, so you see that, talk to you see it. So it's like these like the gates of Heaven again.
You see that big logo legates and this is.
Jupiter, Florida. If you're from Florida, you think of Miami, Brower, south West pom Beach. You don't really think about Jupiter like that. So it's in the middle of nowhere, so to speak. But when you come, it's like an oasis, like the locker room is. Everything is beautiful in that in that bad which I appreciated. And I was there, and I remember when I left, I said, man, I gotta remember this experience. I don't know when I'm coming back ever, So I got to I got to let outfit or whatever. And then I had to go get the James because the playoffs are going on right now.
So the store and on at Grove twenty three is crazy. The Jordan's Golf Store.
They have every retro Jordan's Golf show, but the gear in there.
They It's like, I'm sure that store makes a lot of money. It's an experience, is everybody we always in the shop.
It's an experience. Man, I got yes, it was so I'm glad you peped that.
You know, it was for you.
I was like, I said, what you gotta pull? I said, you see right there, it's ignorance.
See versus the grove. The black Cat logo is Puma is raised. Black cat is sneaky die. So look at the logo.
Look at the black cat right, the pumas up stalking. Yeah, it's the difference between pum and the black cat. Yeah. You know, I'm not even getting paid.
For that, you know, right, you know, like the whole black with the black whole black cat came from you know the story.
Yeah, please please share with us, please.
I mean it's it's a long history of Michael Jordan's but uh, I mean that was the nickname that he got that he was given, you know around the league. He's a black dude, yellow cat eyes, Mike, Mike like that, Mike like that handlef But he was boy fans, he was explosive, he was he was all the things that that black Cat is you know what I mean that nickname amongst other nicknames, but just to just to bring that for a circle. Chef has the microphone, but Chantelle doesn't. Chantel is the connection to get to that trip. You don't know if you knew that that Chantel was the one that I was like Chantel, I needed to I need connected. I wanted to do it for my birthday, man, my third ninth birthday. Yes, and I needed to connect into because I just want to hit him j like, bro, I don't like when people do that to me, asking for favors. You ain't doing nothing for me, And so I didn't want to do that. So we had to go another angle and so to tell connected us. And so by the time I got to Mike, Mike already knew he knew was my birthday.
So far and so on. So I just like, hey, am heym but so thank you, thank you, Telly. I want to connect. We had a good time. Tell me is the connecting and just gender rope. Listen. I appreciate you for everything you do. Thank you. I just wanted to talk about that.
I don't know what no, but that's when I wore at least it was like I see this is that, this is that you just don't know about this and that and and for me it was just so cool because it's almost like, uh, for those who don't knows and those who don't don't and it's okay, that's okay.
That experience with it for me, I was just that was that was pretty dope. That you can keep that. Shout out to Justin Wane is what we're drinking right now. It's from Apostle.
I don't know if people that drink drunk wines from out there, but they make very good wines, and so shout out to them. I am actually on the meling list Justin wines and so I get a lot.
So if you need something, thank you.
So then I have a question because when I was younger, I wasn't a wine drinker. Initially, I think when you got into wine, I think when Lisa and Lisa kind of got we was drinking like but Reslings and stuff like that.
I drinking too, but pretty much and mad Dog something like that. Right. But then as I've gotten but that was it was a connotation that screwtops.
Yeah it was yes, yes, yes, that's it's cheap. So please educate us that for those who don't know, because I was like, because part of me was like, but then I know.
It's not going to answer to this question that you asked me. Okay, okay, okay. It depends on who you're talking to.
You can talk to somebody and they can say, oh, it's not cork or screwtop, that's cheap, it's weak, is this and that, and they can give you all the reasons why. Then you can talk to somebody else. They can tell you the benefits of the screwtop versus the cork. So it's it's different, you know how it is. Man, This is tomato, Tomatowmato. Do you like the wine?
Do you like the brand?
At the end of the day, you know what I mean?
And so it's great.
Yeah, it's like it's like we've been told, we've heard things about the wine. Space has made it to keep us further further away, because you know what I mean, once once, once you throwt throwing all that language and all this stuff, man, it complicates it.
That's definitely one of things. Like, Okay, well, the reason a lot of wines went to the twist top is because there was a shortage of cork. So then wine said, Okay, you know what it costs so much to be able to cork out wine, Let's go ahead. The wine doesn't change, the taste of the wine doesn't change, the value of the wine doesn't change. But why put this expensive cork in here? Well, we can still do the you know, the twitter and.
It's just a right, it's the quarks seals it different than this.
But this, you know what I mean when the screwtop seals it, but the QRK seals it differently, and so you're gonna get probably a different Like if this was screwtop versus cork and the same wine, you may taste the difference because of the way it has been stored, the way it has been careful, the way it has been made, the maintenance of it with the screwtop versus this. But that doesn't make it cheap, doesn't make a bad wine. That is gonna that it may have a different taste because of the way that it is right, the way it's made. And so it's a it's a real bad pr that screwtop has and a neyed a new PRR broke the.
Space they got messed up in the game. Give me a screwtop. You know what, I hate struggling with the quarks and too.
I have a bottle of my my cellar right now that that it's still halfway broken and I haven't baby to open it up, and I'm still stuck up because I can just push it in.
I just left it and I got lazy. I'm not gonna lie. And if I had a screw i'd have been drinking. I look at it like levels, right, Like it's the visual of of a of a cork.
That's different, right, It's something about seeing somebody put that wine, hearing it, like.
Putting it in there, watching them do this and then satisfying. That's it.
But it's just like with food, right, Okay, if talk to me, if i'm you know, if I say to you, okay, well I salted. You know, I made this dish in the kitchen and I bring the dish out to you, right as opposed to me bringing the dish out to you and sauten it at the table. What's the difference. It's still the same flavor, it's still the same dish. But it's the experience of it, right, It's the it's the visual, it's the visual of that cork coming out. You're hearing that pop the whole nine yards, So therefore it seems a little bit more regal to you than it does having to twist off as opposed to the dish coming straight out of the kitchen already sauced and everything done, and not tables. You know what I mean, Because I could do a banana fasters for you easily in the kitchen and have it come straight out and it tastes the same, but it's totally different for me to be able to do it at the table and to do a flambay of the bananas and the cognac and everything and then pour it over your bananas. Its presentation, got it, you know what I mean. At the end of the day, I want to work out down at Greggs tomorrow.
I haven't worked out with a trainer in a minute, guys, I'm gonna go down there on a workout experience.
Waist he's got like he's been really yeah right now, youbody tell me.
But I need the challenge right now, like I need I just need something that's gonna tell myself.
I just need a challenge. A mountain bike with me. No, I'm cool on the bike. My need don't respond well to the bike that much. Don't really it shouldn't hurt the nack. Yeah, but it's just it's a lot of it's a lot of this, and I have bone on bone. It's a lot of this. You see this. I can't do too much of this or my knee sorry, is to rub like my bone is rubbing on the bone. I wonder if it's the bike's not fitted propertly, because you shouldn't feel that.
It ain't even that I'm feeling why I'm riding. It's the it's the effect once I get done right that my need. I have been feeling the bone on bone rub.
Okay, no, no, no, because I don't. I don't necessarily have bone on bone. But I was saying that it has helped my the once I got fitted. The cycling is helped, like for my knees, which is crazy what you would think because it's running, is just jacked my knee up. But the biking, I've been mound backing. That's what just I started mountain biking because then I say, I got hip o a car.
So let me tell you right, so I know I just don't this in there, but look so don't listen, listen, listen, listen, listen, And.
Am I just this is not the scarybody by cycling because at the end of the day, I'm very cautious when I'm out there, I'm very like overly I'm overly cautious. But when I didn't trust my gut like I should have, I wasn't hurt by the way. No kids were cats or anything was harmed on in the feeling of this process, but I was at So it's actually by on the way to the Hitting Hills house right, so I'm moving on Valley Circle right about to go over the bridge bike lanes. If it's a turning lane, the bike lanes on the inside of that lane.
I come in there.
So it's a light going south from my house to go over there. He's going into Calabascay towards my Hulting. I'm in the bike lane. There's a truck on the right hand side that's supposed to turn right. He cannot go straight. He's wants to go turn right to go to the one on one that's where he's wants to turn. I'm in the bike lane and this car is here.
We had a light.
I look at him and he's looking to the left, and I'm like, I think he'd bout break the rules and not go right.
He should be turning right. No, so he's looking left. So what I do? I right next to him. Make myself big and make myself noisy. So you see that I'm here.
How did you make yourself?
How did you make yourself? So I saw big?
Oh so so but it was it's not it's one of construction trucks, right, but it was a little pickup type truck and a pickup.
It was a truck is going to a pickup truck.
But listen. So here's the thing. So I'm at the light.
So the way I make myself and for the record, I make myself a bit noisy. I mean was a no, he's just have a Bluetooth speaker on my on my on my my jam.
I like the bi because with the music playing was going.
But but I rolled up on him with the music loud so he can hear me. I wanted you to hear me, and we got off the we got.
Off on the speaker and his windows over rolled up.
No, he's literally outside of want to looking like this in the left. So but what I should have done, because I saw he was looking at the left. It's like he's trying to make go left, and I'm not sure if he's gonna see me or he's gonna act.
You're using your hands signals out there, I do use. I'll be in there like this left, I'll be out there like this.
Did you do it this time?
I did?
But what happened is off the line. He's not even looking straight anymore. He's just looking to the left because he wants to get over. I'm on a bicycle.
I don't just zo. I gotta doing this, man, I'm get up the light. I'm electric electric, No, but it's I still got a pedal, but it's electric. I still gotta.
I didn't know that everybody about time about Actually it doesn't. It doesn't. So my bike doesn't. It doesn't have a I don't have a throttle. I don't have a throat, that's the thing. And I had a throttle, I would have been all right. I don't have a I gotta actually pedal. And the guy that he just hit me tab me my bike hanging off. I'm literally pieces of my bike hanging off on the side of the street, just hanging I'm running.
I'm like, what, Yeah, he broke he broke the back of my bike. Dang, yeah he did stop. You ain't fall down? And what.
Nah?
I just wanted to have.
Been so dirty.
I'd have been so dirty out of road, all over in the dirt.
No really, but so because of that, and my bike is actually is in the shop now because it's just paying for he paid for it.
Actually was cool enough to like he pulled over. So I appreciate. I appreciate your home.
Mee.
I ain't called him. So you didn't even you didn't do nothing to your phone when you when you what you do your phone? Mister? Airplane mode because it's still buzzing. Oh, I took it off because I was to make sure that kids ain't. I put it back. Okay, they go to fine. You know he didn't turn it off and turning right back, turning back.
I got somebo I'm gonna be honest with you. Just see that I'm sitting on it's not comfortable. I've never experienced this type of thing. Yeah, I need something.
You're not feeling well right now. I get it. I get it. It's tough these days. I forget it's tough. Days. I was just going to say, oh yeah, everything, it ain't sound. They come on and be like, maybe I know about it. I just didn't care. Trying to sound his voice.
I've been hearing it, and he got some headphones on his so he could hear himself.
Hear myself. Yeah, and he late night.
Boy, he's he is hearing himself and he is like he is in full effects this this chairing.
I know that the talent I ain't really complaining, but that's just the plain.
But what is the talent sitting in.
The talent sitting in talent chair, the actually sitting.
This camera right now? Because you don't got out of water, You're gonna tell me how I'm supported to feel.
WHOA, yeah, that's true. Man, Come on, man, we get comfortable. Please get comfort. Please.
It's definitely the example. But do you hear about what happened when man in Toronto with the gambling.
I heard nothing about it. Let me tell you about it. Then he they got bands, a lifetime band I heard about. I did hear about the lifetime man.
And he makes millions of dollars for whatever whatever whatever, and only made from gambling.
From what I understand, again, from lying lying behind the memes.
I read like twenty some thousand dollars, So you basically risked millions of dollars for twenty thousand dollars. Do you think this is something that's going to continue to happen as far as because the thing.
Is because gambling now has become legal, right sports? Right?
And you see and you do you under do you do you understand what happened with from Okay, I'm a lying blying behind what I what I would just watch. But the part what it was was he bet on a parlay where the party was that he would make basically two three pointers. And on the days that he knew he was I guess what was going to play, he bet like dobles of money that he was going to make less than two three pointers.
He bet on hisself, bet on himself.
He took betting on yourself to a whole of another level, belt on yourself and double down.
Is it all right?
Well, first of all, I think it's it's a lot of unclarity around the gambling. Right. We know that the NBA is sports of this has become a huge part of the game, money, the brand, the game, and we need it, we need that we need to finance, we need to exposure all that, and so I definitely think it's going to be some trial and error.
This is one of the trial and arrows of it all.
But ultimately, ultimately it must Ultimately a couple I've been drinking, it's been a great day.
Ultimately, you can't gamble on the sports you play.
I mean, that's that's the basis of us.
That's the base. Forget the rest and the gibberius. You can't bet on the sports you place. You just can'tnot even forget betting on yourself, Like that's great. You can't bet on the sports you play. And so I think once you just clear that up right now, if you do it, it's on you, and so uh and Adam has to accept that precedent.
You know.
Unfortunately, I don't know this young man at all, and like you said, we don't really know the real story. But you know, he has a lifetime ban, so they're not just giving out like time bands. And I don't even know no one who has it.
The closest person I haven't had the last time Pete Road the same exact.
Right in baseball. So I don't, like I said, I don't know the story. I'm a big fan of Michael Porter j and brother. I didn't I knew of his brother because I knew the story of Missouri, I didn't know of the whole. I didn't know he was in Canada until I saw the Jerseys fight that they did. So it's very unfortunate. It's obviously a stain right now on on on the family's branded name. But you know, hopefully they come out of it better. But ultimately, when it comes to gambling, and I never got into it, and I don't really understand it all, and so I stay away from it. But I do know one thing I do know. You can't gamble on your team, that your sport. They let people know that now everywhere. And then another current news. I have been watching this beef or rap beef?
What, Yes, I've been watching it. So I've been I'm all, yeah, you feel invested what you got? I ain't got nobody what you like this? That's the problem. I got to pick side.
I am one of I'm a consumer being entertained by it. I may entertained. I'm not listening. First of all, I can't do nothing that neither one of these artists can do. Okay, So I'm not saying who's better than who I like to listen to. What I like to listen to when I like to listen to it. It varies to me. How I look at it is this, I play a sport, right, I played the sport, and in that sport, it's like talking going on. It's a lot of I'm the best, I'm better than you. You can't with me in moments in the game, right, this is what I come from. Which one thing that I missed from the game I can't talk stuff across the airways about probably is uh, you know, bomb is better than pempers, Like.
I can't do that, right, That is not the same. That's not the same.
And so how I look at it from what we spirence, So now this is just this is talking a little. This is no I'm better than you or you know what I mean, and I got it or I'm coming to get it. This is this is entertainment. Long as they don't go off until we hear cruises fighting and someone's got shot and someone, long as don't get into that part of it was ugly. Keep let's keep it entertainment because I want to hear man the Big Three, I'm just big me what you got next? And then boom boom you come.
With his he come with here. This is entertainment. I am entertained. I am buying.
I am signing up to suspend my money for the entertainment. And so long as they keep it. G want, they keep it, a buck wants, they keep whatever word you want to use. I think it's great for it's great for hip hop. We're talking about hip hop here. Everybody need a little but we don't need the tragedies that come from it.
We just need the thing we've learned from that. I think that hip hop has learned from that because we lost with Big Ee and with Tupac. We lost some people that we were constantly saying, what if they were still here? We'll still to this day, what what would be happening? Where would this artist be if this biggie was still here? Where would this artist be of Tupac was still here? So we love the combativeness of it all right, but we just don't want it to go too far, you know. And I think that with what what everybody's doing.
Now, they get it.
And I was just talking to you about you know, Rick Ross, you know, what is our boy doing? You know, I said, what is that boy doing? And you were like, Hey, I love it because that's that's that's the Miami's talking right now and one hundred. You know, you look at it as uh as somebody from Miami that grew up in the three h five all my life, and you're looking at the things that Rick Ross is saying, Oh my god, man, that's that's exactly what we would We'd be ranking the hell out of somebody, you know what I mean, ranking, just ranking, ranking, you know what I mean. And even if it don't make any sense, you're getting it out there and you ranking them, you know, and if you can't handle that, then you can't handle that. You know, it's either you can't you're gonna cry in the car. I remember being in middle school and we had this dude named Cigar back in the day, and his name was Cigar. He wasn't the most attractive dude at all, right, but bro, as a matter of fact, he was right. But what they didn't what you didn't want, you didn't want to get. You didn't want to start ranking with him though, you know what I mean. You didn't want that you get eat your line right, light you up talking about your mama with the kids staying on the leg, you know, all that.
Up.
So I used to be the one that was in the crowd and be taking mental notes of the things that they be saying, and so forth and so on, so to build my own armor just in case somebody wanted to ride on me. One day, I can go ahead and do a remix of Cigars ran and put it on somebody else, you know what I mean? Yeah, man, So I'm a I'm a study of ranker. I'm a ranking officion. I get so to hear to hear ross going. It brings me to the.
Old school, because come on, man, you know, like you're talking about like white boy, white boy b bb hell, and I'm talking about he's, Oh my god, he's relentless with it and even like with with what the things, the things that you know, fifty cent does when he finally gets over somebody's case, it's like, yo, you know, relentless.
Some people may say, oh man, you're going too far, but to a true ranker, you can never go too far.
I got a question about that. Do y'all think that that's fifty cent for real on his social media. Do you think it's a it's a it's a team of someone who's doing it.
Oh, it's the team.
So do you think he Do you think it's him at all? Yes? I do.
I think that I think it is him, But I also think that because he's uh and I can only you know, think about you know, only imagine this. But I think that he's so busy that he has a team of people that are specifically for that. Yeah, and they bring him the stuff and then he throws his input on it and then boom, they put it out. I don't think that he has the time to sit there every single day and throw out these things that he throws out. Because he's throwing out he's hitting you with AK forty seven type type. He is multiple.
He's trying to knock your head out. It's multiple times. I love it.
But it's the styles, right Like Ross style is Miami, I'm gonna get on you. I'm a rank on you this right fifty highs. His style, Drake style is cold. Drake gonna put a marching band in front of You're gonna tell you're gonna call you a drummer board. You're gonna put a marching band and you're gonna, Like Drake Douce, he go to levels that you don't even think about.
Like he's an artist with I appreciate it. He's his own way, he's an artist with I love it. It's the creativity of these they're artists. So now they're using this platform to bring eyes to them. Right. It's just like what Kat Williams got on the Comedians went up.
Everybody was focused on comedians, right, and so right now everyone's focused on hip hop and then they're gonna be focused on something else. And so it's their time, and it's entertainment and it's enjoyment, and so let's meg let's get some more.
Let's get some more.
And at the same time, it separates the cream from everybody else because if your name is mentioned and you're not really ready for the rank session, what do you do? You apologize and you say, hey, you know what, Yeah, I ain't really built for this. So you know what, I'm gonna sit back and I'm gonna watch everybody else rank. I'm gonna watch everybody else do their thing. So it's just it's just crazy how it has gone from actual rapping to ranking you know what I mean, And then the ranking will then lead back to rapping, you know, so it's a perpetual cycle. And I think I even ask you, I said, you know, do you think that these cats are like serious or do you do you think that? You know, it's a thing where they say, you know what, somebody somebody has said, Man, we need some energy in hip hop or in rap or whatever. What can we do?
Yo?
You know what?
I tell you what this is how we're gonna do this? Boom boom boom. Rick Roll says, you know what, Drake, I'm gonna unfollow you and I'm gonna say that I'm on following you because X y Z and the orchestrated frustrated and then they playing it out. You know what I mean?
I would, I would, I would love to say that, and it could be and I don't know, I have no no one way or another. Uh, it's just the way that these ranks are come in. Yeah, I don't know, because I don't think it's that, But you don't.
You don't think there's what you don't orchestrated. I don' think it's orchestrated in that way. But also also too, you do see Meek Mill and Drake have a that moment they had a couple of summers ago, and then you see them on stage together. So it hasn't went to the point where like, yeah, they rank on each other, they jocking for position. They you know what I'm saying, it's about this, It's about that. You know how we are these are men, true, it's about women. It's about money. I'm fresher than you, smell better than you, I look better than you. True, that's what it's about.
I'm better than you. Right, And so it's that kind of vibe.
But then at the same time you see them at some point they're gonna hit the stays together and it's gonna be all it's gonna be all love. Ross and Drake might jump on State and it's gonna be it's gonna go crazy. So the money, the it's entertainment. That's what people got to. That's what people fail to forget about all this stuff that we're so connected to, is it's all entertainment.
It's their job to entertain us. And are we bored with what's going on right now?
Because it ain't been a lot going on in hip hop nothing but now we're all in and then we're like, man, people coming out of nowhere. YEA love it because it hasn't been as much entertainment and people been dropping songs, they dropping albums, they've been having collapse. Has been a lot of friendly right friendly, don't sell yeah, throwing drinks on people, throwing drinks.
And you definitely got to remember, and I know I'm telling my age when you talk about like Ll and Cool d Yes talk to the.
Beef Bros. That's when That's when.
LL came out with his and then then coom d came out with what was it? I go to work?
You know, and listen, bro, it wasn't Wild West part of that that. This wasn't Wild West part of that wild wild West all a.
They was talking. They was talking about Luke. Remember that they talked about Luke. They talked about everybody. So that that culture of of ranking for lack of a better word, has been in hip hop forever. So to see it now at this stage, especially after the unfortunate thing that happened again with Biggie and where it went too far, you know what I mean, And we know how far it can go. We know what it would do for the culture if it goes too far. So that's why whenever we have these situations like this as far as entertainment, we'll always have our hands in prayers saying, man, I hope that this just doesn't go too far to where we lose these giants because of violence that someone else decides to do on their behalfs, you know what I mean. So we always keep that in the back of my head. That's the reason for my question is is it orchestrated or is this really some real type things that's going on, you know what I mean? But either way is very entertaining because I mean, man, you get to see everything because like now they're comparing Drake's mansion to.
To to.
Exactly because now you know how many square foot right, You know that, you know that Ross has one of the biggest residential pools in the United States of America. You know that that. You know that Drake's house is you know, fifty thousand square feet or whatever it is and has these attributes to it.
So you're learning a lot from these things.
You know, there's a lottatives, Yes, Ross is a lot.
He paid thirty five million dollars so.
Much about it. So very entertaining educational the same time.
You know what I mean, my favorite part, I mean what we looked at is what started to be. But even though it's not even beef or what started this of Kendrick Lamar's right, I just love what he said when he said bomb at the end of those like like like Princeville outlived Mike Jack, Nigga bomb.
It was the bomb for me to just get me.
You know what's so funny about that is that one thing I love about Kendrick is that he's such a perform performer, Like if you really think about his lyrics, but like you said, lyrics was just okay, and he didn't really say that much.
But the way you performed that you was like, YO, came in with a shot off.
I went to Kendrick Lamar concert. We went to Kendrick Lamar concert of La La Paluza, and Kendrick might have did this and had one of the most entertainment shows. I don't know how to do the LA and had one of the most entertaining shows because it wasn't just about him. He had little Kendricks out there. He had all kind of visuals and all kind of things going on with his words. So yeah, it's not even just about like, oh he's some lyrical mastermind. It's his way into it. But I love it because, like, Drake's one of my favorite artists right listen, Just like basketball, I love to see somebody go with my favorite players. I love to see when somebody ain't afraid to go with Lebron. I love to see ain't nobody afraid to go with these great players, Like I love that, right, So the fact that Drake is here, he got it right now is his and Kendrick like, man, I like that.
I love it. I love it. I love it, and I hope people understand.
But that's the only way you get better is to be challenged.
You have to.
If you want to be considered great, you gotta be challenge, challenge by. And the thing is, I mean if he challenged by you know, just anybody means nothing from when you have another great to challenge you, then that's saying a whole.
Lot, you know what I mean, your father of the discipline, bro.
I'm looking at Kenny right now with the green set on in the elevator, taking a picture of itself. Green green, green, Yeah, I got a green little short set on.
Yeah, yeah, some uh you have some joints in mindy. I really like this the style that he's been he switched to.
Yeah, it's uh, it's a nice casual style for him. You know what I mean. It could go either way. It's all this no green, it was a green one and the elevator would the same, same elevator, same, probably be the same set.
I don't know. Yeah, okay, but I like.
I like what I.
And even like the I like his whole style. I told him on that saidyo, bro, like what you're because they're trying to find the style. And I'm like, bro, you finding it, like where you're going? Yeah, like what they had on that when we gather, Yeah, I keep it, keep it all.
I love it. Yeah, I like what you're doing with from you. Lucas and Patrick's birthday party a few weeks ago, literally all four of them on.
Shirts with and they said, so when I look at in the elevator, I was like, yeah.
But the thing is, though, you got to be confident.
You got to be confident to wear that kind of you gotta put it to your You just can't put that, yeah, because if you got one one inkling of.
I don't really know if this works for me or not. It won't work for you.
Well you are who you around, going back in the house to take that we are all. We all are the makeup of everybody that we around, everybody we admire or you know what I mean.
So I love to see it because even even then, like even can right now, he's he's painting this nails, you know what I mean. Things that's nature and it's more so of him being around you know, a group of high level men that do it, and he like and you're comfortable. Yeah, they're all comfortable, man, you know they it's creative. Is this is that it aid the outfit or getting compliments? So he gets to see it all and then he doesn't. I'm sure his friendship group that is not a part of this world.
Is like, bro, what you're doing? But you over there with d Wade got you paining your damn nails.
Let me tell you something. I had a couple of partners of mind, uh, heavy hitters, you know, and they see me and they're like, yo, and tell me about your nails what you're doing? And I'm like, yeah, it's just you know, I ain't got no help in my head. You know when I had hell, you know what it was? Then I was finger waving it. I was permanent curling it. Everything. Now I ain't got that. Oh thing I got left is manel. So yeah, it's a form of expression. And what happens is with growth period you lose some people, you know, and you can't be afraid to lose people because you found yourself. And that's what happens in so many instances is that we stun our own growth to hold on to relationships. So once you get to a point where you say, you know what, I'm ready to spread out. I'm ready to grow no matter what, whether I'm here by myself, whether I'm here with one person. But I would rather be here with one person that's with me than to be with ten people who really don't get me. And I think you and I were talking the other day and we were talking about Muhammad Ali with the George Foreman fight, where Muhammad was talking about how he was, you know, pumping himself up and he knew the people around him that they were so fearful for this fight for him, and they were so fear me because they knew that they couldn't fight. So they knew what George Foreman would do to them personally, so they put that fear on to Mohammed right, not verbally, but he knew that That's the way that they felt. The way that I personally feel that you should live your life because this is the way that I'm constructing my life at this point is I need people with me that are with me one hundred and you know, let's talk about our fears. Let's talk about when you see me make this move, Let's talk about it amongst each other. If you have some fear about it, let me be able to explain and be able to talk to you about it and have some great dialogue about what it is. You know why I'm doing what it is that I'm doing, and I respect you enough that if you don't understand it, I need to let you go. I get that, right, I get that it's no problem at all. I have no beef with you at all. But I see that your mind has not sprouted enough to be able to understand my growth and where I'm going. And I have to be confident enough to be able to let you go. And that's the thing too. So many of us hold on to others just because because we need the numbers. I don't need the numbers.
I need a quality, you.
Understand, just because we need the numbers, just because you need the numbers of people. You understand. If I'm getting jumped, I don't need five people that can only throw a upper cut. I need one person that could throw a left or right and bite and do whatever it takes. They can get they can get down and only take one right, you understand. So what happens is, especially when we're talking about our brother, you know, Kenny, and we're talking about ourselves as high level men. You know, it's lonely being a high level man. It's lonely because, for one, there's so many men that are scared to say what they like because they're so fearful of what everybody else is going to say. So when you are so blessed to be able and to be able to be in the presence of other high level men, then you're able to talk about the things that you like, be able to talk about Bob with a different sense that he likes to wear. I understand, You're able to even like with the painting of the nails, De started out a certain way and then I was like, man, I like that, so boom. I've taken it to a whole other level with the things that I do because it's a form of expression. And those that don't like it, it's cool. I don't have a problem with you, but I understand that you have to be here, and I'm on my way there. And it's not just about the nails, it's about everything else because because I have found enough space to be able to do that with my nails, I found enough space to be able to do that and every other part of my life as well, to be able to grow, to be able to think differently, to be able to say, you know what, nothing can stop me. I don't care what anybody else thinks about what it is and I'm doing and I'm moving forward no matter what. You understand what I like it, and I like happy and I'm happy.
Right, And that's and that's funny because when you think about it.
Like I tell you're right about that, it gets lonely in that regards like because the higher not only say the higher you go, but the more you grow and the more you change, and just trying to evolve into your next version of yourself and then you find that that that group that do connect, that do make sense to you, And that's beautiful when you find it, because at that point then you have that those kindred spirits. And it's interesting because I, like, no one has ever said anything to me about which I'm they did. I'll look forward to that conversation. But it's interesting because in my group, we all, as much as we do share a lot, we are still different in the same in the same regards. Because I remember I trying to do the nails.
I didn't like it. I didn't do it. But it's that's me.
But you like it, you go your way, you like it, you like you go away, and that's you and you. And it's not a thing where like man look at you with his nails or look at Rich with his nails. Y'all, don't look at bout like Bob. Ain't trying to do what we're trying to do. It ain't like it ain't like I'm trying to make you me and you make right.
It ain't. We don't care what you do. Just be happy, Just be happy. Just be happy.
This you know right now, you know I'm just clear, But like this, you do it because this is like like chef said, man, it's a part of your you know, your creativity, right, and it's a part of your outfit. It's a part of it's a part of who you know, your expression and you know, it's so many different ways we all express us. Whether you wear bandana, you wear a hat, you wear a dove head, you wear for Dora, it's so many different ways in all the areas of life that where you wear glasses, where you wear contacts, where you don't wear now whatever it is, whatever that level on your body where you can express yourself different than someone else. So fat people have taken nails and now man bags right that which I rock, right, but they've taken it and they made that right there. These are things that is for our women. Leave that for our women, right because that's what what we're seeing. That that is the conversation, like all these things for women. So you got to be you know, on that vibe or you know, whatever the case would be. And it's like, no, actually, I don't want to go in my pockets. I spent a lot of money on my clothes. I don't want to be digging in my pockets for stuff. I want to get it right out of this bag when I go there, when I'm traveling, I don't want to do that. You know what, The women had it right the whole time. I always wondered why they carry them bigger bags. I'm like, why y'all carry them bigger?
Now?
I know you face these little bits. I got my lip bomb up in that, I got my man sitting there right. But it's like everyone has this idea of Okay, this is for men and this is for women. You see what you see the women nowadays, they ain't worry about what's for men. They went ice, sow changed grills. Whatever we thought was for us. Women ain't worried about that.
There's the foremost, when you come home to your woman, what does she have on? She got your T shirt on? A least, stay in my classic stay in my classic T shirt. She got your dress shirt on. She might wear your dress shirt out somewhere with a pair of jeans on, you know what I mean. So it's always been the other way around, where it has been accepted for a woman to where men's clothes and things like that.
You know what I mean, boyfriend jeans or something like that.
Yeah, all of that stuff now there's certain things that I'm not going to do. But that's my own personal preference exactly. I see other people doing it, and I'm like, m not for me, not for me. It's good that is I'm looking at it. That's what you want to do, cool bridge. I have no problem with that.
I've learned. I've learned. You know, I'm heavy into this fragrance, this fragrance journey. Yeah, we know.
But for me, I remember when I first got into it, I used to always think one way about Fragranci's like you gotta have the wo's the citrusy, spicy.
That's the man things type, right, That's that's the feel.
But then as I've been smelling different stuff, I like certain I like sweet, I like sometimes floors.
I like different. I like different smells. Is it Oh yes, it's different kind of oods. And who has that certain kind of like man?
Yeah, and you're like like this like it has it has like sometimes we call it animatic, animatic and spicy.
Yeah.
Instantly, And for me, as I where and I'm trying different stuff out, I've learned I like there's some floor stuff.
I love some rods and my fingers or something so you like to smell fresh? Yeah, what's wrong with smelling fresh? Right? And and so you be like that.
So I believe all fragrances are you in the six I don't care what it's in the women's side of the mess out.
If I like different on everybody, tell you first of all.
But if I like how to smell, regardless of what you may think of me, smell like, oh that smells feminine?
No no, no, if we's smell good, and that's all that matters to me.
You know who introduced me to that was Joe Malone, when I started going into the Joe Malone shop and and seeing how you can spray one fragrance and then put another fragrance with it, and then it gives you a whole other combination. So from coming from a culinary background, it's like building flavors.
If you're building.
Scents, and you have these two cents that you put together, but then you have your own body chemistry that makes both of those sens smell totally different than anything else that it would smell like, because I could put the same two on you and the smell totally different.
So I was able to look at floral.
Fragrances and look at spicy fragrances and things like that and put them together. Either wear them separately and still feel great with them, even with like like what Donna Carroen, my wife said, the other day, I messed with Oh love it, man, I messed around and I dropped my tom Forward and broke the bottle. And she said, so, what are you gonna wear some of them with? Donna? Karen? She said, well, you're gonna be your perfume. I said, well, listen, you can say whatever it is.
You want to call it, call it what you want, call it what you want.
But you like it, don't you pay understand me? Because the smell is totally different on me, and I love the freshness of it, and that's what you were just talking about. I love how that smells, and I know when to wear it. I know that I'm wearing that basically during the day, you know what I mean, Brunch things like that, you know what I mean. It puts you in a certain frame of mind about yourself, whereas I would wear my tom Forward a little bit later on in the evening. You know what I mean.
If you like what it smells like, you like what it smells like I mean, I wasn't moved.
There one day and this lady had all I'm gonna take exactly what. It's KLi, which is uh calling the Uhair feminine brand, and it has a vanilla fingers, and I was like.
I was, I was a love of love another fa we used the right way.
We were watching them. We were the movie in and so I'm sitting and moved in and we all here. But she was a regular person. She's with her dude, but I'm smelling her the whole time I'm there, to the point where now I'm in his face. I'll ask people straight up like what are you wearing? And I'm to ask yourself, it's vanilla bout it? And I'm like, yo, I have to get it. I need it for myself, not even for more and so for anybody. I need it for myself. I want to get it for my wife because if I like it on me, I'm gonna like it on her, and a vice versa, because at the end of the day, I feel like a lot of times when people get stuck into like this is for this person, this is for that person. There's certain things that like to me, if it's for you. It's for you regardless of Ain't nobody gonna tell me what's for me if it's not.
It's a box, right, Everybody wants you to be in a box, bro, Yeah, nobody wants you outside of that box. And so even in the main culture, but not all man because you know, different levels of how people are raised and what they see. But let's talk about black men in the black community. It's a box that we're put in, right. We're viewed a certain way, and we view ourselves a certain way, and we put ourselves in a box as well. And anybody who get outside of that you are ostracized. Yeah, don't you know what I mean? And so I love the fact that I'm in your box? Right, whoever is the comment on me that I mean, I'm not in your box? And I love that, Yes, right, that's the uniqueness that I bring to this world as an individual who was born.
Into this world.
This is my uniqueness. I don't fit inside your box. And I love the fact that I don't because I don't. I don't care to fit inside of it. But you know, and I think it's but it's also it's also okay to have different opinions. It's also okay, No, I ain't.
I ain't doing that. I ain't with that.
That's cool, that's gold. What's the next conversation? Exactly, that's nothing what you feel about me.
You have nothing to do with me.
That's you feelings, exactly. I like me right people all the time. As I get old, I'm starting to learn who I am. Right, I have a little narcissistic like part of me, maybe.
A little bigger than this. I like it. And if you don't like it, get on, because this is who I am. Fact. You like that part of me. Facts.
But if you don't like it, that's okay, but that's your problem completely. I like it, And so that goes with everything else that we say.
It's high level.
Man.
We like doing these things. I like like I told somebody there to that.
I said, So you're still getting regular haircuts your barber, don't it foliate your face?
You, Barbara?
Because I barbered. Do we wash our hair, We wash our beard, he take out the bumps in our face.
We get the steam. Or you're still getting regular haircuts? Shame? Oh, sorry for you.
You have the same rais. Oh, you have an experience, an experience no hot towel on your face.
Hot. You don't getting none of that.
It's getting the regular you're walking in there seeing that regular number. Let me get a number seven, You get the number seven. I got my own customized numbers. But you're still doing that right, like and so like when you look at people like, okay, like, that's the level you at and that's the level you want to be. And obviously I want to be over here, so I'm gonna be over here. And it doesn't make you a more of a man or me more of a man. This is just shows you how our differences just because we're men, don't mean that we got to have the same won'ts.
You know what I mean. I don't want to be musty, Sorry, bro, I want to always be Harry. I'm sorry, bro. Right right Sometime I'm like, you know what, I'm in my Harry modes. Sometimes I'm like, man, you're a little musty.
Look right, People just people just need to just feel I feel like it's just in general, this is just in the world to be here and that people just need to just feel comfortable. It's a big phrase, people, It's a phrase they get over used quite a bit. But you gotta feel comfortable in your skin because you got to live with you and.
That you have to live with you. And that's it. As long as you good, We're good. Yeah.
The Netflix show, we want to talk about it? Which one damn we got that many shows. Okay, oh Nelix left, she is balling.
With the.
Okay, let's talk about talk about talking about what is it? Like, what's going on?
Like talk to So the Netflix has I don't know, it's like two weeks, so whatever the case may be, where they have a series called Netflix is a joke and you know it's in l a is comedians all levels of a comedian who gets an opportunity to be on stage and it's presented by Netflix, and you know people get a chance of by tickets to come to it, right.
And so this year, for the second year, because this is the second year of Netflix is a joke.
My partner John Marcus in Fifty Knife and Prairie, we're constantly looking for content.
So some content is the ones that.
You see Barbara Little Rock that can be nominated for an oscar, and some content is Netflix is a joke, And so Netflix is a joke and fifty Knife and Prairie decided to partner up to create this content.
And we use when we gather.
So we're going to create a when we got the dinner, We're gonna take my wine, We're gonna take food, and everybody who's buying tickets to be a part of the show will be able to have and enjoy.
Our wines and food and experience.
Put it from there. Then now the show opens. And so you know what was so cool about this opportunity for me is it really was customized. We really were like, okay, so what we want to do. I was able to pick the comedians that are a part of the SAT that I'm hosting. And so, uh, little Rail is the host of my Netflix is a joke sat on my show, And we go.
Back to Chicago.
We go back to Chicago's Got Talent when I was back then and he was hosted my Chicago's Got Time of My Foundation event, you know, just to watch his rise as an actor and as a comedian. And him and I looked at each other recently one in one of the rooms we were in and we just looked at each other, like, man, look at us. You know, two kids from Chicago and we in these rooms, you know, and to watch, you know, him continue to rise, and so I really wanted to partner with him, and we did that. And then I have relationships with Chris Spencer, who's going to be a part of my sat I'm a big fan. I don't know her yet, but I'm big. I'm a big fan of Janelle James, who is an unbelievable comedian who you guys may know from TV, but I don't even know if people know her from Necessary Comedy right necessarily, but she's on Abbott Elementary. She's uh, she's a pretty some going out a bit of James. She still was able to add a couple of other acts. I'm able to add DC Young Fly. I really am a big fan of DC Young Fly Huge. I love the way that they're kind of going into like comedy, him and his whole crew. I think it's eighty five South or something like that. I don't want to mess it up, but I love that so man. For me, it's one, it's Fist and Knife and Prairie Presents. And we able to, you know, to tie ourselves with Netflix, but also to just bring different content to what we're trying to do. And we love laughter, we love wine, we love food, we love community, and so when we gather will be a part of Netflix is a joke.
So it's gonna be a cool night on May ninth. Man, I'm looking forward to it. It's big.
Do people know that you really want that you had aspections of being a comedian at one point.
Well, let me tell you something to Chris Spencer hit me in the DM and he said, so, let's work on your self.
I say what, I said, what's that?
I said, You're not about to get me booted up the stage? But so you want to write something together? And I said, no right now, even though I think I could do it, you know, let me just let me freestyle. But we may, we may work with something.
We'll see.
Either I'm gonna get on the microphone and pass it or I'm gone to a microphone to trust something.
We'll see. What. Hey, I still have that one set that you did.
It wasn't really a set until it became a set when you're going away dinner when we were leave in.
Might to Chicago, like non stop, just just riffing, literally, just riffering. But yeah, that's y'all. I know, y'all know you have to talk to people you don't know, like I know what you'll like, and you know, it's easy for me to.
Talk to me to everybody in the crowd that I know, but I don't want to take what they do and say, oh, I can just get up there and do that.
I know that it's affect to it. But outside of that, I don't need to be a comedian. This is not about me.
This is about one providing a platform, being a part of a platform that is this and providing it for you know, these comedians continue to get this this stage. But also too is bringing some of my I be in my wine brand and my dinners are what we do, my dinner series when we gather, you know, to something like this, when Netflix is a joke, really bringing an elevated experience to this. And so I'm excited and I can't wait to get it going and see how it's gonna be. But yeah, man, just fit to knife and prairie man. We continue to, you know, e spread our wings and once again we will not be putting a box. And that's the cool thing about owning your own production companies. You can go out and find whatever content you feel represents who you are and what you want to see and so this is something we want to bring laughter in.
This, and so we do.
Is there anything you want to say, anything you want to talk about, anything you want to tell about what? I always ask you, what's your wife? Because you always ask that why? And it may change, it may not change. But do you have a different why today?
I mean, of course, I think every day right for me, I don't know about everybody, but for me, I think, you know, I approach each day is exactly what it is. It's own day, and you know, in their own day, it's things that are gonna arise, and it's they that's gonna come up and it's going to spark something maybe different you than you had experience yesterday. And so yes, your why is evolving all the time, right and every day towards multiple things. And so I mean, I think I've been on an intentional quest, right, And so my whole twenty twenty four is about being intentional. And so you know, my why is just that it's just been intentional with everything I do. It's intentional in the moments that we spend together. It's intentional in business, it's intentional in private, moments because I'm someone who understands that moments are fleeting because I've had I've been blessed enough to have so many big moments in the world, but I understand that they just they stay there.
You don't get to take those moments with you.
Only when we recalibrate those moments, right, we have that moment, but those moments.
Really stay in that day. It's stay in that moment, it stay that time.
And so because of that, and I understand that I'm about creating every day, you know what I mean, because I can't live off of the of the past because it's so fleeting, it's not there.
I can't touch it, I don't experience it no more.
I'm about the president, and so in the present for me, man, it's just about doing the things that I need to do and that I want to do that I know I'm going to show up to do right, and being a person that I need to be and want to be and know what I'm going to show up to be.
And that's why. That's how it's always been.
And so it's no different in business, It's just you know, you know, it's it's a little tougher because everything that I want to accomplish, it really has. It doesn't all come for me, but the thoughts and the ideas of the lane that I want to go down, the.
Express way I want to take comes for me.
And so that's the joy that I get to have because I get to have days where I'm like frustrated as hell and I'm like, I don't I don't know what I want to do. I don't I don't know what direction to give. I don't know if I'm if I'm being a right leader. I don't know if I should. It's a lot of questions I have for myself. But then in some days when I realize, like, Okay, you're being a good leader, you're being a goodness, You're doing what you want to do.
You're making this stuff happen. And that's that's daily.
And so you know, my why is just to always be open to what the next day is gonna bring and understand it's not always gonna be it's not gonna be bad always, it's not gonna be good always. But taking what's given to you and which is the day, and maximizing it and every day you get to wake up, that's your blessing. Before anything, before your family, before your kids, before your bank account. Your blessing is your ability to open your eyes every day, and your blessing is to be able to put that left foot in the right foot down and do the things you want to do right. And so I literally, bro, that's my why. It's every day I wake up, I have a why to know that this day has to be impactful in some way, whether it's just for me, what it's for you, what it's for businesses, what it's for whatever, I have to impact this day.
