Six years after launching the RCS & WPDI Women Livelihood Programme, the results show what is possible when women entrepreneurs receive support tailored to their needs. More than 140 women-owned businesses supported. Over 200 jobs created. Seven in ten of those businesses still trading. The 2024 Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) South Africa report by Stellenbosch Business School found that business support offered to women entrepreneurs rarely focusses on the specific challenges women face. But that closing this gap , women entrepreneurs tend to direct more of their earnings towards the health, education and wellbeing of their families and communities. RCS backs tailored support for women entrepreneurs 

Five people including a woman have been gunned down in a mass shooting in Langa on the Cape Flats.The attack occurred on Saturday night.Police spokesperson Andre Traut says officers responded to a complaint of a shooting at a house in Phase 3, Langa, where they found the victims.The victims sustained gunshot wounds and were declared diseased at the scene. The motive for the attack is currently unknown, and no arrests have been made at this stage.Provincial Serious Violent Crime detectives are pursuing every available lead to identify those responsible.Lieutenant General Sizakhele Dyantyi has condemned this brutal act of violence and has directed detectives to pursue all avenues to make sure the perpetrators are brought to book.Colonel Andrè Traut explains

The National Women's Day commemorations this year takes place under the theme _"Empowered Women, Empower Nations and today our Sunday morning discussion puts the spotlight on women in STEM. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. We zoom in on the strides and contributions of women in STEM sectors and what the challenges are.  For more we spoke to Puleng Tsie, Manager of Sci-Enza, a science centre of the University of Pretoria and Professor Nox Makunga, from the department of Botany and Zoology at Stellenbosch University

President Cyril Ramaphosa will  deliver the keynote address at today's National Women's Day commemoration at the Union Buildings in Pretoria. The event marks 70 years since more than 20-thousand women marched against apartheid pass laws. This year's theme is "Empowered Women, Empower Nations", with a focus on improving women's access to quality healthcare. Women's Month also highlights challenges facing women and efforts to advance empowerment and gender equality, while honouring leaders such as Lilian Ngoyi, whose struggles helped shape South Africa's democratic progress. We spoke to Minister in the Presidency for Women, Youth and People with Disabilities Sindisiwe Chikunga
