The eThekwini Municipality has raised concerns over employers who continue dropping undocumented foreign nationals at the now-closed temporary repatriation site at the old Durban drive-in. More than 7-hundred Malawian nationals are stranded outside the locked facility - with no shelter, food or transport. Many say they were told to leave by landlords and employers fearing fines for hiring undocumented migrants. Meanwhile, Stats South Africa says the top five sending countries to South Africa were Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Lesotho, Malawi, and the United Kingdom. Bongiwe Zwane caught up with the acting Deputy Director General for Population and Social Statistics at Statistics South Africa, Solly Molayi who says these five countries also maintained their rank since the 2011 census. The chat is followed by an update with the Border Management Authority which says it has had its hands full at the Beitbridge border post in Musina, in Limpopo amid the repatriation and deportation processes that are taking place.
