Day Of The African Child: AHF SOUTH AFRICA Reiterates The Importance Of Comprehensive Sexuality Education

The International Day of the African Child, observed annually on June 16th, commemorated the 1976 Soweto uprising by raiseing awareness about the rights of African children. Since 2022, AIDS Healthcare Foundation Africa has used this day to emphasise the importance of Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) for youth health and education. The AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) Africa Bureau will host events themed “Fostering Health and Education Through Comprehensive Sexuality Education” as part of its “#ProtectTheChild” campaign. This theme aligns with the global IDAC theme, “Education For All, and The Time is Now,” highlighting the critical role of education in improving health outcomes for young people. The initiative underscores the interconnectedness of education and health in promoting the well-being of African children.
