Tomorrow Johannesburg is set to host the very first YouTube Works Awards South Africa, an event that will celebrate the country’s most effective and creative ad campaigns on the platform. The awards, presented in partnership with Kantar, recognise the power of storytelling, audience connection and measurable impact across six categories. This comes as YouTube marks its twentieth anniversary, a milestone that highlights how the platform has grown into a stage where South African creativity can stand shoulder to shoulder with the rest of the world.
YouTube has become a career path for young Africans, unlocked new opportunities in the multi-billion dollar creator economy along with transforming advertising into something more authentic and culturally relevant. With tools like Shorts, connected TV, and now AI-driven formats, YouTube has positioned itself as a place where Africa’s youngest generation can shape their stories, share their ambitions as well as reach audiences far beyond local borders. Joining us on the line is Lorraine Landon, Head of Advertising products and solutions at Google SSA.
