The healing power of aerial and trauma informed yogas

View descriptionShare

Stepping into an aerial yoga class can be surprising with sheets hanging from the ceiling but don’t let that fool you as aerial yoga qualifies as a moderate-intensity workout that, at times, can veer into vigorous territory.

It is great for anyone who spends a long time sitting or has back pain because it has a decompressing effect on the body, not only does it have positive physical benefits but also mental ones especially those who have trust issues or over controlling.

Another form of approach to yoga is a trauma-based one which makes the practice safer and more accessible, addressing the unique needs of trauma survivors. For those who have experienced trauma, this form of yoga could be of assistance, many people have found ways to build a sense of safety and find healing. We spoke to Trauma informed yoga coach, Saloshnie  Chetty and  Owner of Be You:  yoga and pole fitness studio, Nicole Jardine.
