South Africans are travelling more than ever and Standard Bank clients are leading the charge! What began as “revenge travel” after lockdown has become a lasting lifestyle, with travel spending in 2024 reaching tens of billions of Rands (double what was recorded just three years ago). Flights made up the biggest portion of that spend, with more than 1.5 million bookings, mostly from Private Banking clients. Travel and tour operators, along with accommodation, followed closely behind as more South Africans continue to chase experiences at home and abroad.
With flight prices climbing higher than ever, Standard Bank wants to make travel more affordable through its newly launched Standard Bank Travel. From November, clients can book flights directly in the app and receive discounts of up to 40%, not just for themselves but for their families too. To further we are joined on the line by Michelle Munemo, Head of Private Bank Client Value Propositions at Standard Bank South Africa
