In a world marked by dynamic shifts in societal norms and expectations, one notable transformation is the reshaping of the traditional landscape of household responsibilities. An increasing number of men are stepping into roles traditionally associated with women, contributing significantly to domestic duties and challenging age-old stereotypes.
The 2023 State of the World's Fathers Report, themed "Centering Care in a World in Crisis", explored the experiences and involvement in caregiving among 12,000 men and women, many of whom are parents, across 17 countries. The survey looked at who does the caregiving, how they care, for whom, and what men and women think about care. We spoke to the co-authors of the report, Wessel Van Den Berg, a Researcher at Stellenbosch University.
