How to handle narcistic traits in children

View descriptionShare

Ever questioned when someone started being a narcissist or a triggering factor that ultimately altered their mental space? The development of Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) is often rooted in early childhood experiences, various factors can contribute to the formation of narcissistic traits, including parental influence, childhood trauma, and the overall family environment.

Children who are excessively pampered, indulged, or placed on a pedestal by their parents may develop an inflated sense of self-worth and entitlement.

In addition to parental influence, societal and cultural factors play a significant role in shaping a child's personality. In environments where success, status, and outward appearances are heavily emphasized, children may internalize these values and strive for constant validation and admiration from others.
