Afro Pop artist Aubrey Qwana has returned with a moving new project titled Umkabayi Legacy. The album follows his acclaimed 2023 release Mkabayi The Album, which paid tribute to his late mother, named after the legendary Zulu princess Mkabayi ka Jama. This new body of work builds on that foundation, carrying forward themes of resilience, ancestral strength and love that spans generations.
The album features a list of collaborators from across Southern Africa, including Mnqobi Yazo, Shwi, Inkosi Yamagcokama, Mzukulu, Luve Maganga Thishela and more. With this release, Aubrey not only strengthens his identity as a musician but also as a custodian of cultural memory, ensuring the stories of the past continue to resonate in the present.
