The Bakwena Ba Mogopa community are set to gather on 15th of February in Mogopa Village, the very land from which they were displaced, to commemorate the 41st anniversary of their forced removal; event will not only honour the hardships endured but also celebrate the strength and unity that have carried the community forward over the past four decades.
Under the theme "Honoring Our Past, Reclaiming Our Future" this commemoration serves as a moment of reflection, resilience and renewed commitment to reclaiming their heritage.
The program will include speeches from community leaders, cultural performances, historical site visits, storytelling sessions and a memorial service to pay tribute to those who suffered during the displacement.
We are joined on the line by Kopano More Author & Member of the 41st Mogopa Forced Removal Anniversary Organizing Committee.
