Although World Heart Day was observed th29th is passed Sunday, the need for continuous awareness around heart health is more vital than ever. The current state of heart health in South Africa is concerning, with cardiovascular diseases remaining one of the leading causes of death. Prevention strategies, including healthy eating, regular exercise, managing stress, and routine medical screenings, are key to reducing these risks.

In the same breath there is a common misconception that heart attacks or strokes only affect older individuals or those with unhealthy lifestyles however, even young people who lead active and healthy lives are not immune to these conditions. Factors such as genetics, stress, and undiagnosed health issues can still pose significant risks. This highlights the importance of regular check-ups and understanding your personal risk factors, no matter your age or fitness level.
