The Swartland Olive Festival is set to return to the charming village square of Riebeek-Kasteel on the 27th and 28th of September 2025, bringing with it a celebration of all things olive. Seven leading olive producers from across the Western Cape will share their finest offerings, alongside wines from the Swartland, live music, chef demonstrations and authentic Platteland fare. Visitors can taste, learn, and experience the unique flavours of various olive cultivars and products under one marquee, gaining insight into the craft and culture behind this small but mighty fruit.
Beyond the food, the event showcases olives’ versatility in beauty and wellness, with products such as face creams, soaps and balms also available. Chef demonstrations from culinary talents like Jenny Morris, Pieter Malan, Nicole Neethling and Karen Els will inspire festival-goers with simple, flavourful recipes featuring olives as the star ingredient. With live performances by Afrikaans folk rock duo RAAF adding to the vibrant atmosphere, the festival is a chance to savour, explore and connect in the heart of the Swartland, a region where olives and wine share a deep and intertwined heritage. To further unpack we are joined on the line by Wendy Petersen, Chief Executive Officer of the SA Olive Industry Association
