The Austin city council is being blasted for its latest budget proposal, which critics say will continue to make the city unaffordable after an analysis of the $6.6-billion-dollar proposal shows that it will cost the average capitol-area homeowner about $350 more per year, the Austin school district has called off a planned partnership with a nonprofit that was going to take over three middle schools next year as they were hoping to partner with the Texas Council for International Studies in an effort to prevent a state takeover of the entire district, but the Texas education agency rejected that plan, the rainbow crosswalk at 4th street and Colorado in downtown Austin is no more, after governor Abbott and TXDOT ordered the removal of rainbow crosswalks, and other political signage as well from all Texas cities and yesterday some people gathered for a sort of vigil to mourn its loss, and governor Abbott has issued an executive order designed to crack down on unlawful "birth tourism" schemes.
