In December last year, we received a call from a retired government employee who outlined the challenges they face once retiring. She spoke about the different options they have to take and what they mean around medical aid benefits and pension once you are out of the system, also making suggestions about what government can do to change legislation so that it better serves an individual who retires from civil service. Ever since the news broke of how young children are giving birth at our hospitals and how the ages keep getting younger, we have been receiving calls from many of you our listeners not really knowing who to blame. Limpopo Premier Phophi Ramothoba has been very vocal on prosecuting the fathers of these babies for statutory rape and also calling on health practitioners to report these pregnancies. So from today (Monday) we are going to speak to the different departments about the role they should be playing in reporting what these children are doing. We kick it off with the national department of Health to hear from them as to what is the obligation from doctors and nurses when they admit a young child who is coming to give birth and what the laws are from their side?

Many people work through the festive season as first responders and often what they see in their line of work can take a toll on their psyche as well as how they serve communities during peak periods. Some of our first responders struggle from burnout as a result of their mental health taking strain. Are there support measures available for workers to debrief and decompress their experiences?
