NGOs are raising their concerns over the South African Social Security Agency’s (SASSA) new identification verification process. We have received complaints from recipients of the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant that they can’t access their grants because of a new process. On the other hand, SASSA says that they are doing this to prevent fraud. They go on to say that they have received high volumes of fraud with the R370-a-month grant. Some commentators believe that what's keeping them in power is more to do with loyalty during the liberation years. But what's also being picked up is how liberation movements on the African continent are starting to experience reduced numbers at the polls. So for this morning we thought to look at what seems to be behind the declining support from citizens. Is it because young people are now the ones voting or liberation movements no longer relevant?
