NGOs are raising their concerns over the South African Social Security Agency’s (SASSA) new identification verification process. We have received complaints from recipients of the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant that they can’t access their grants because of a new process. On the other hand, SASSA says that they are doing this to prevent fraud. They go on to say that they have received high volumes of fraud with the R370-a-month grant.
