“Meet the City" Investment Retention Programme

Last week we received a call from Javu Mthombeni who is a resident of Mukhomi village in Malumulele in the province of Limpopo. He was telling us about a road project taking place in his area without any of them knowing about it. The residents are suspicious because they say that the road is only along the mayor’s house and his second wife.

As we reflect on a successful G20 Leaders Summit in South Africa, we take a moment to bring you behind the scenes at the G20 Media centre where our very own Lerato Tsebe spoke to some of the powerful players at the global showpiece. She sat down with the Secretary General of the African Continental Free Trade Area Secretariat on some of the economic breakthroughs made during South Africa’s G20 Presidency and how it has strengthened Africa’s position as a key global economic player. She asked Honourable Mene about the critical minerals agreement, how African member states are consolidating the demand for raw minerals and the role of the ACFTA as part of the G20 Declaration that emerged where Africa is featured in major economic resolutions.

During our time at the G20 Media Centre, we had a privilege to speak to some of the 42 foreign missions who had sent delegations to South Africa during the G20 Leaders Summit. On the sidelines of the Summit, our G20 correspondent Lerato Tsebe spoke to Ms Oh Hyun-Joo, a senior representative of the South Korean delegation that visited South Africa during the G20 Leaders Summit weekend. She is a senior principal official who oversees the Republic of Korea’s economic and security affairs. She reflected on the upcoming presidency of South Korea at the G20 in 2028. Lerato asked Ms Oh Hyun-joo what are the strategic goals of South Korea with African countries in achieving economic development.
