As new year begins, we take a moment to speak about how emergency personnel are taking care of their mental health in light of their intense work schedule - helping to serve communities. Many people work through the festive season as first responders and often what they see in their line of work can take a toll on their psyche as well as how they serve communities during peak periods. Some of our first responders struggle from burnout as a result of their mental health taking strain. Are there support measures available for workers to debrief and decompress their experiences? As holidaymakers return to their homes after the festive season, we speak to border authorities on how it will prepare itself to ensure the 72 ports of entries are safe through the remainder of this period. We understand that there have been concerns raised around borders given the situation in Mozambique in recent times and the border is a one of the busiest ports of entry in the country

Last year, 5 million people used our ports of entries during the festive season with the highest volumes using  airports (13 050 flights), vehicles (over 300 000 person as well as public transport) and 709 ships coming into our sea habours. To share their insights on how the agency is ensuring compliance during the peak season, we are joined by….
