Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman are back to entertain film fans in the double-billed feature Deadpool & Wolverine.

Despite the Marvel Cinematic Universe experiencing critical and commercial decline in recent years, audiences were hopeful this mature-rated crossover experience could be entertaining.

Beef noodle salad with citrus dressing

Cook time: 5 minutes

Prep time: 15 minutes

Serves: 4

300gm beef sirloin or scotch, cut into thick strips

2 Tbsp soya sauce

1 clove garlic, peeled and crushed

2 coriander roots, crushed

1 Tbsp vegetable oil

Citrus dipping

3 mandarins, cut in half

2 limes, cut in half

4 coriander roots

4 cloves garlic

handful fresh mint leaves

1 Tbsp brown sugar

3 Tbsp soy sauce

Noodle salad

1 packet fresh Udon noodles 1

cucumber, peeled into strips

6 baby carrots, peeled into strips

2 red chillies, finely sliced

Coriander leaves

For the beef simply combine all the ingredients and cover to allow to marinate. When ready, heat a BBQ or cast iron pan until HOT, sear the beef for 3 minutes each side. Allow to rest before slicing thinner.

Citrus dressing

In a mortar and pestle or a bowl, crush together the mandarins, limes, coriander roots and garlic. Add the brown sugar and soy sauce and mix. Taste and adjust according to the flavour. You need a good balance of sweet, salty and sour. Strain through sieve before using.

To serve

In a large bowl, add in the noodles, cucumbers, carrots, chilli and coriander leaves. Pour over dressing and combine, top with sliced beef and enjoy!

Famed Kiwi singer, songwriter and broadcaster Anika Moa has broken away from the spotlight to focus on smaller projects.

She's recently released her first children's book, The Witch of Maketu - and she's set to star in Auckland Theatre company's retelling of Peter Pan this October.

She says acting on stage is a different experience off the back of the long-running radio career. 

"When they offered me the part, I was like - I can't act, I can't do this, I can't learn lines. And then I'm like - try. Try and do it, because you love the thrill of live audiences, you love entertaining people."

Kaitāia boxer Mea Motu used her skills to be crowned IBO super-bantamweight world champion - and she's facing her next challenge.

On October 26, Motu is set to challenge England’s Ellie Scotney for the IBF, WBO, and Ring Magazine titles in Manchester, England.

She says preparing for a fight on this level comes with extra challenges.

"We literally have to do this on our own and cover the costs from our own pocket - so that was a stressful thing. But I'm lucky, I've got a lot of people who I reached out to, who are willing to support and back me."
