California is poised to have a female majority in the State Senate for the first time ever. Women continue to make great strides at the local level, but not so much at the federal level. While women will likely be the majority in the State Senate post-election – with most of them women of color – it’s a bittersweet victory for female candidates. In the same election, California will lose its last woman in the U.S. Senate, after almost 30 years of being represented by two women in the Senate.
