A/Prof Helen Frazer and Dr Martin Gunn discuss the rapidly evolving role of AI across clinical radiology and radiation oncology. A/Prof Frazer shares groundbreaking research using AI to predict future breast cancer risk and personalise screening pathways. Dr Gunn explores how AI is improving imaging workflows, reporting, triage and clinical decision-making. Radiology Across Borders (RAB) is a global charity working to change this reality by strengthening radiology capability through education, training and in‑country support, helping to improve health outcomes in emerging nations.

RAB co‑founder A/Prof Suresh de Silva and Director Dr Salman Ansari share the organisation’s origin story, the scope of its work today, and the tangible impact it is making on the ground. They also discuss the importance of RAB’s partnership with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR), which is helping to expand reach, strengthen programs, and build sustainable radiology capability where it is needed most.

Ep3: Radiology Across Borders: Advancing Radiology Education and Improving Health Outcomes in Emerging Nations

Radiation oncologist Dr Gerry Adams reflects on a career that has spanned continents, disciplines and leadership in cancer care. Originally from Northern Ireland and trained in Edinburgh, Dr Adams eventually made his way to regional Queensland, where he has helped build and expand radiation oncology services in Bundaberg. 

Dr Adams discusses the rewards and challenges of practising in a regional centre, his clinical interests including research into immunotherapy following surgery and radiation therapy for skin cancer, and the rapid technological advances shaping the future of cancer treatment. Dr Adams also reflects on his service to RANZCR, including his time as Dean of the Faculty of Radiation Oncology, and his current role as Chair of the Māori, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Empowerment Committee (MATEC).
