Artificial intelligence has the potential to transform healthcare from a reactive system focused on treatment to a proactive model centred on prediction, prevention and earlier intervention. But alongside the opportunities come critical questions around trust, governance, workforce readiness and how clinicians integrate AI safely and effectively into patient care.

A/Prof Helen Frazer and Dr Martin Gunn discuss the rapidly evolving role of AI across clinical radiology and radiation oncology. A/Prof Frazer shares groundbreaking research using AI to predict future breast cancer risk and personalise screening pathways. Dr Gunn explores how AI is improving imaging workflows, reporting, triage and clinical decision-making. Together, they examine where AI is genuinely adding value today, where caution is still required, and what the future may hold for clinicians and patients.
