A number of big guns are back from injury including Roosters winger Dom Young and Storm forward Eli Katoa.
This is the Super Coach NURL Official podcast Team list Tuesday.
Live React Teams Podcast Round twenty four. There's a massive race on for the overall fifty K prize, and if you're playing this week in head to head it is sudden death. Also, there are a lot of people the week off just sitting back, relaxing, chilling. You look pretty relaxed there, Wilson Smith. Are you in that situation in super Coach?
I don't know so much about my head to head leagues. In Classic, I'm in so many so I can't keep up with them all. But I qualified for the Grand Final on my draft legs last week, so I've got the week off, so I'm pretty soon. Pretty happy at the moment.
Yeah, I'm in too many leagues to count, but so I've got the week off in some not in others, but the one I really care about, which is the one in the office here with all our work. Guys didn't even make the eight even though I am finished with the second most points in that league, and then got pumped from the competent last week.
So that one's too far down on my list. So you can only see so many, so I have no idea what's going on with that one?
Yeah, well I'm assuming I didn't make I'm definitely out of it and we've got a huge show today. The big things to look out for will Dominic Young be named for the Roosters, We'll have that in about four minutes or so, and will Ellie Katoa being named for the storm. Let's start on Dominic Young. The deal with him is that he picked up a hamstring injury in his last match, only made it through forty eight minutes. But he had the bye last week, so he's had a week off. But as the NROL physio always tells us, even the most minor hamstring injuries are two to four weeks, so he'd have to think he's touch and go.
Yeah, I'm really hoping his name's today because I want to start him under Greg Marcia this week, who brought in last week and was a bit of a letdown. I think when the injury happened it was against him in the manly game, I'm pretty sure, and he came off and you know, he didn't look too bad. And now they've had the week off as well, so I'm hoping there's a chance, but I'm realistically expecting him to miss one more week and then probably come back in next week.
Well, it'll be the first thing a lot of super coaches are looking at. The thing with him is I know a lot of people sold last week, but you look at the roosters run home from here after that buy where they've really duded us? On the first week super Coach had dead finals, which is something I did not factor in when I was buying all my roosters earlier in the year. From now they have Eels, Titans, Raiders, Souths. It doesn't get any better than that, So Dom Young could go gangbusters. Look at the other guys. Crichton is the most purchased, Tedesco third Manu sixth. So it's the week of the rooster. Let's start on Angus Crichton. Is he a must?
I mean at this point of the year, like it depends on how many trads you've got left. I know, if it's for us, Like I'm pretty sure I've only got four trains left, so I'm.
All, you're doing well.
I'm holding them for the last two rounds. But I think he for me, he's like the best forward in Supercoach at the moment, So I think if you've got the trades, he is a bit of a must.
Look, he's got the base and he's got the attacking upside. You would back him for a try or two in those final few games. The issue, of course, is resting, And with all these roosters depends how they're going on the ladder. Where are they? They're fourth, the fourth of the most so they're not in like an automatic position to be at the moment. Actually, and yeah, they're not in an automatic position to rest. Plus they've already had this buy late in the season, so look, who knows what happens. James Tedesco is he must have. I think at full back it's looking like you need Teddy Turbo Ponger two of those three. I can't see much reason to have any other players in that spot.
Yeah, I think with mainly on the bye last week and oh roosters on a buye last week and mainly on the by the week before, I think a lot of super coaches have been doing a lot of chopping and changing with the full back. But yeah, I reckon you need two of those three in they run home, Especially Turbo at the moment, he's just in rare form and mainly have a pretty good run as well. Like you just said before, Russ has have a really good run. So for me, I've got those two and I reckon they're the best two you have to run home with. Knights are a bit hard to get it read on at the moment, so I really like those two more than Pomer yep.
And we've got Joey marn who is the sixth most purchase player, ridiculously cheap for a guy who, let's face it, as great of Supercoach and still has one of the best averages of any center winger in Super Coach this year, despite the fact that he's had some injury effective games, so really popular this week. He's also had some injury issues as well, so he's had a good rest coming into this game. So like, what, like, will he get rested at the end of the season. I don't think he will. He'll be a fair way down the list. They'll be wanting to get some meters into his legs before the finals.
Yes, definitely, I think he's a really safe purchase. Obviously, playing in center not his best position for Supercoach, but all it takes is one injury and he moves into five eight or full back and gets some really big super coach scores, and like you said, the rest is a really good rums's every chance he drags Jags a trial to in the coming up game. So I really really like him, I have him, and I'm really looking forward to putting him back into my team this week.
So I'm refreshing madly here. The teams are going to drop at any moment now. Obviously, Elie Katoa is a guy that a lot of people are looking at. Missed last week with the knee injury, but the word out of the Storm was that, like if it was a big game he would have played, he was kind of semi rested from that round. I'll be pumped to get him back in my team this week.
I don't have him, so I didn't I didn't have to worry about him last week. But we've heard rumblings that the Stormer considering resting players over the last month of the regular season. So maybe last week was a bit of a planned resting and he'll be back this week and maybe they rest someone else. So it looks like the teams are in.
That's the case. Yet teams are in before we get into them. Code subscription is one dollar for the first month to get all articles, videos, podcasts plus super Coach Plus, which is our stats offering. It's so good for projections, captaincy options. You can spy on your head to head team. You've got ownership, like you know what people score at certain venues against certain teams. It is great and it's only one dollar for first month of cancel. After that, just test it out and have a crack. Teams are in. What have we got for the first game.
It looks like Ellie Katoa is back, so he's back on an edge. So Trent Liero moves to Locke Nelson to prop two. We come and can make the the bench. So that's really good for his honest And then for the Panthers, Dylan Edwards is extended bench.
Extended bench, okay, so so is Dane Laurie has been absolutely killing it at the back for them.
Oh yeah. In one of my draft leagues, I have Edwards and with him out, I've been starting Dan Lourie and it's luck yeah saying.
They got Casey McClain's still there thankfully, so look, probably won't be playing him this week against the Storm, but he is an important number for a lot of people. Fisher Harris named amongst the reserves as well.
It looks like with their back row injuries, Maverick Guy and Liam Henry starting on the edges, which isn't hugely surprising.
So that let's chat Liam Henry because I'm really considering putting him in my seventeen this week. My seventeen is pretty strong this week, and I'll say that after getting only a bear seventeen, like literally seventeen people in the park last round, so I had to play some guys who I didn't want to play. This week, it's a different kettle of fish because I've got Liam Henry currently not in my seventeen, but in eighty minute game sorry, in games over sixty minutes this year, which you'll almost certainly play this week as a starting back rower, the average is sixty eight. Yeah, when you can, I think a sixty eight. It's a pretty good option to put in your seventeen in this round.
Particularly for draft like heading a lot of teams will be playing final smatches this week. I think he's one of the best pickups in draft this week because he's available on about eighty percent of draft legs and what we've seen from him this year. All he needs is big minutes to get big scores because he's just a base stat machine. So he'll assuming he plays the full eighty, which I think he will here and they're playing Storm, he's going to have to make a ton of tackles at a time of hit up, So I really like him this week.
Thoughts on Nathan Cleary. He inverted commas flopped on the weekend with eighty or whatever. He ended up scoring. A lot of those were scored in the last ten minutes or so as they ran over the Eels. Different game this week against the Storm. It's a tough matchup equally, though it's that Blue Bet Stadium where he's got an incredible record. Thoughts on him this week. I think I'm going to have to go VC on him. You can't not go either VC or C. And he got Tommy Turbo in the game straight afterwards.
Yeah, I mean we saw last week he managed to get a decent score in the last like five ten minutes, so you know, clear is just that kind of player. But I think it's a bit of a risk this week with a Storm mashup, So definitely not the straight sound him this week, but I, like you said, I'd still be putting the VC on him because he could go big. You never know.
I would love to see the super coach stats on Nathan Cleary and he's scoring in the last twenty minutes of matter, because I reckon it would just be game past. Yeah, that's where that's Nathan Cleary time.
My headline ready to go on the weekend?
What did I have?
Captain Cleary grounded and then and then he went bonkers in the last few minutes and I was like, he ruined my headline.
I hate it where that happens, I really do. But people watching you'll have no idea what that frustration onto. Let's laborate on the Storm. So I was back months is there is Karen Munster good for the Storm, were bad for the Storm. He's coming in and they suddenly look really plunky with him back in the team. Tyrone Wishart was doing just an incredible job for them while Monster was injured.
It's probably just like some teething issues while they're sort of getting because he's been out for so long, and like you said, Wishard has been killing it that probably you know they've been everything's been going a certain way, and then he comes back in it's a pretty big change to his spine, so they're probably just readjusting a little bit. So you've got to think come finals time he'll be good for the Storm. But obviously Tyrone Wishart was just killing it throughout his absence.
Onto the Seagulls. Your boys, they've got Josh Josh Aloyer back. Every time I pronounced that name, I think of Peter Velandi's and stuffing up Nathan Brown to the bench. Yeah, Toler Coolo's listed a eight h man, so he could come into that team. I'm not sure who you reckoned he would come in for time.
I think he probably he probably like the wing. Yeah, but Hopowarty has also been killing it on the wing recently, so yeah, that's a bit of a tough one you'd think. I mean, initially, I think they were planning on keeping Turbot center for a while and cool out fullback. But obviously with his injury, Turbot is settled back in a fullback, so I don't think that'd shift him.
So Turbo with definitely with the Sea for me this week. VC on Cleary in the game before Turbo with the Sea in the game after and then get all your captaincy out of the way early in the around and hopefully to sit you don't have to worry about Hill and don't worry. Yeah, hopefully that's let DCE as a pod. When you watch the Seagles team, when Turbo's there, there are just so many threats all across the park. Luke Brooks is killing it. DCE goes better with Turbo there, and then of course you got Turbo too, so the defense just doesn't know where to go, and this is benefiting DC. I reckon he's a great part if you've got trades.
Yeah, I'm a little bit scared of him, just because I think I have him in one of my draft legs. And Manly started off really slow last week, a bit of a bludder of her first half. I'm pretty sure he ended the half on four to ten points, but then just had an absolute blinder in the second half. And so like, obviously these hacking up sides there, but I just think mainly are a bit hard to get Arena on at the moment, so I have a little bit of hesitance. But obviously if he plays to his potential, then he can be one of the best half acts in the game.
It's a pretty decent matchup against the Warriors this week, and the Warriors it's at four pints as well, so whenever home Pines you've got to consider certainly Turbo for Sea and any pods in that team as well. Warriors, he got Sean Johnson back after missing last week, which is big for them. Adam Pompey and Marcelo Montoya also back on deck. Super coach wise not, I mean, it's all about Adam Vanilla Blake in this squad, really averaging seventy eight over his last five rounds, so there's a little bit of up and down when he doesn't score tries, it's a bit of an issue, but still going pretty solid.
Yeah, him and Barnett are both like it's just been absolutely on fire. Barnett has, you know, more of the base stats, whereas Vanilla Blake's more of this hacking upside play. But yeah, they're both unreal. I don't have Adam vanil Blake anymore, but I have Barnett and I've been really happy with him. But whish I still.
Had them both. Barnett score of course, scored that penalty dry on the weekend score quite nicely. Rooster's big news there. Dominic Young has been named on the wings, so sigh of real for a lot of super coaches. Joey Marnho's there as well, he's popular. Looks like there's no restings. Angus Crichton's there. So it is the same seventeen that went out before the buy. I think we've probably spoken about everyone at the Roosters. It is the week of the Rooster with their run home. I mean, you could take a punt on most of that seventeen and probably still go at the Eels. They got Calma too, a lungy back from a thumb injury, and they got Mica Cuvo listed in the reserves who could come onto the wing or somewhere else. The guy I wanted to talk about is Clint Gutherson, who has wound back the clock a couple of tons in a row. I've got him so five round average is eighty seven, which is right up there with the best fullbacks in the super coach Now, I wouldn't be buying him for Classic, but I do own him in a draft league, and I'm particularly happy with what he's been doing.
I mean he'd be a frustrating players who have owned in a draft this year just because he's been so up and down. But obviously the last month or and a bit that he's been back to his best. So I don't have him in any of my draft legs, but he's someone who i'd like to have at the moment.
Onto the Doggies. So Reed Marni is there, which is good news because he's suffered a shoulder injury on the weekend, so it looks like he'll play. Josh Curn's there as well, and they've got James Salmon back from his broken jaw I believe it was, and he comes onto the bench super coach wise. I mean, I think I've probably covered it. So let's move on to the Dolphins. Mark Nichols is out after that head knock on the weekend that saw Dylan Walker sent to the sinbin. Other than that either of these teams, it was good to see Jermaina Sako go relatively well, even though I mean he got sixty odds, even though he's in doubt with that ankle injury during during the week.
Yeah, it's been a frustrating year for him just because he was someone I was considering bringing in last week, but I went with Greg Marsa just because of a little bit of uncertainty about Asako, so I wish I went him instead.
The long range tries from the Dolphins over the weekend were just crazy, and it was Avarillo and finn who really benefited. Usually it's someone like Amaso, Taboo I Fido who does that sort of stuff, but couldn't get any attacking stats over the weekend, and neither could a Saco really but he just kick so many golds it didn't really matter. Onto the Cowboys chat Townshend dropped, which is interesting. Wow, Jake Clifford comes in. That's a big move by the coach reserves. Yeah. Wow, Jeremiah and I as we expected, is out with that concussion. So they got Finnish Fuaki in the coming into the team to start. So look, I mean you have to sell Nane obviously.
Yeah.
Thoughts on Valentine homes. So it's a decent matchup this week against the Raiders in Townsville. So you're playing this week then of course they've got the buy in next round, so homes and it's got drink water in particular sells over the next couple of weeks and drink Water this week. If you can get him to Teddy or Turbo or Ponger or whoever it is at fullback, I'd be doing it.
Yeah, I'd definitely be swinging that if you can, if you've got the trades and the cash. Last week they were disappointing with the Broncos beating the Cowboys, so and yeah, like you said the bye this week, I think, yeah, you've definitely got to move on from them if you've got the trades.
Well, drink Water is the most solid player, and I certainly agree with that trade on to the Raiders. So Rapana is definitely out with that head knock that he suffered last week. So they've got seb Chris said. Chris goes to the wing Ethan Strain the Center's interesting because he's played five eight for most of the year and Adam Cook comes in at five eight. Strange is still very popular in super coach. It'll be interesting to see how he goes at Santa compared to at five eight.
Yeah, I mean, he has the dual eligibility for supercoaches as well, so.
But this could be that he keeps it for next year as well, yeah, maybe.
Super coaches I think would love that. I think it'll be interesting to see if how Strange goes defending at center moving in from five eight. Maybe the Cowboys will target him this week and he could be in for I don't know, maybe the Cowboys are in for a big score.
I think the guy to highlight in this team is Joe Tappaday, who was the most purchased player last week got sinbind still scored eighty seven points with two triassists in there had an absolute barnstall. Yeah.
I bought him in instead of bringing in half a few weeks ago, and I've just been so happy with my decision. It's been perfect.
Gloat about that. Tigers we got not a great deal of doing their Ruber Porter is moderately popular. He's dropped to the reserves. Do you earn him? Yeah?
I picked him up during the by round just as coverage and the one good score he did put up. I didn't reserve him that week, so he's been frustrating, but he's made a little bit of cash. I just don't really have the trades to do anything with him at the moment. So for me, if he's moving back to the reserves. I think that's ideal, Like he won't be clogging up my non scores with like points of sub thirty or anything. So I think it works out well for me that he's been dropped to the reserves.
Up against the rabbit o's this weekend, so a decent matchup for the Tigers are no matchup is good Tigers, but if there's one that they can win, potentially into this even though the fellow the Rabbits were pretty decent in the second half last week at the Rabbits, we've got one change they've got I was Duncan coming into the back row for Cheek m is out with a calf issue. Super coach wise Fletcher mys so he would be I must have Cheapy earlier in the season scoring tries. He looks fast like he's fast in Ryan Papenhausen. He out round Papenhausen on the weekend and he's kicking goals. So he ticks all these boxes. But at this time of season you just can't do it.
Yeah, the only way you'd really consider it is if you have to downgrade to free up some cash to you know, bring in someone else elsewhere. But I mean that's using you know, two trades to bring in one person basically. So for me, yeah, like you said, I don't think other point of the season he would be like I must have Cheapy, But for now I think like it only only bring him in if you have to.
Any any draft love for Fletcher mind.
Oh, if he's available in your draft legs, I reckon he's definitely a good shout. I mean, he's got the Tigers this week and he's playing on you know, on that left edge which can produce big points, but.
Plus the goalkicking team exactly.
Yeah, so get him in draft leagues, but not classic.
He seemed to pick up an injury on the weekend. He came back on and he's been named So good news for Klomba Tangey owners. Even though he has I talked him up as a pot a few weeks ago, he's been disappointing basically, and I think a lot of that is to do with Cameron Murray being back in that team as well, cutting into his workload, et cetera. Dragons with the Titans, the Dragons have Jack Bird into the team, so he's in for.
Mos Silly, who's probably.
Out for the wait. He says, Jack Bird is into the team, but he's not actually in the team. He's on the bench. On the bench, he's not into the centers. They've with a fe and eye brows in the centers. I assume Kyle Flanagan has been named, which.
He has depending his judiciary hearing tonight.
Judiciary hearing tonight. The thing that my biggest laugh today was that his Wikipedia page has been changed to Kyle flannagums.
Incredibly. I have a feeling he's probably not going to end up playing this week. I think he'll be I don't know, just my opinion. I think he'll probably be found guilty tonight.
So look, he definitely bit him, but what was Stephen Crichton's nose doing in his mind?
Exactly?
Yeah, So I think he might get a week or two, but it's not on the scale of biting. It's particularly bad on to the Titans. So we've got Brian Kelly returning after illness. That means a J. Brimston goes to the bench, which is interesting. He returned the weekend, but it was a bit of an unhappy return. I guess you could say great deal of super coach relevance there. Both Firmer who was pretty popular at the stay of the year, has been named as eighteenth man as he looks to return for a bruised kid, which sounds ridiculous painful for Yeah. Jadeen Campbell seventh most solid player. What are your thoughts on him? So the last four weeks he's gone essentially forty ton forty forty, so you're either going to get forty or a ton from him. Yeah, he could turn up against the Dragons, but then they're run homes pretty tough from this week Rooster's Knights and Panthers. Rooster's top four nights are going for a top eight spot, so it will be fired up and then the Panthers of the Panthers.
Yeah, I mean it's it's it's hard. I mean, if you still flush with trays, which I don't think many teams are, then I think he'd consider cashing out before he really starts leaking any more cash. Otherwise I think you've just got a whole them. I mean, it's a decent matchup this week, but he's not like a locked in starter for the rest of the season. So if you have flush with trades, I'd consider moving on.
Onto the Sharky. So the big watch there was Bradon Trindle and whether we'd be back. He's not in the seventeen they've named the same seventeen, but he's in the extended squad along with Murea Tylo and Hammon Aweli. So a massive watch on Late Mail there at the sharkis Kyle Hero is obviously killing it seventeen every week for him, and then Britain Niker on the weekend as well on Fire.
Yeah, I don't own Nikero. He's someone who I just wanted to bring in to my team all year but has never had the you know that never had the ability to do so he's had you know, he's been really good recently, but he's also had some pretty disappointing scores in the last few months. So he's not someone I've been overly devastated about not having, but he's not someone that I think I'll be bringing in either.
Onto the nights. So just one change there. Dylan Lucas comes into the team. He was roughed out on the weekend with the hamstring injury, so the bloke he replaced, Christian m Papa Lungey, drops out of the team. Questions send them through I'm just loading them up now. Shane's asking Weeks or Marsu as the last reserve. That's a tough call on Marju because he can be so good and when Caylen Ponger came back into that team, I was expecting big scores from him most weeks. Klun Pong has been great, but he's going to the other side. Fletch. What's the guy's name on the wing, not Fletcher Min, She's killing you.
I brought in Mysu last week just because I had to bring in another center wing with the roosteres on buy and jeez, he was disappointing. He's the third most popular cell, so I can I can understand why, but he was it was popular bye last week. I don't really know what to do with him. I'm probably not gonna have him in my seventeen this week.
To be honest, Thomas King is asking Galvin as a pod captain this week. I won't say the point when he got clearing turbo Ponger to Deesco. Maybe if you're behind in your league and you need to try something a bit funky, but otherwise he.
Does have a good match up. But I agree, I would just be chucking it on Turbo.
Is it time to move on Cody Walker and get Monster? Look Cody Walker against the Tigers this week, it's a pretty good match up. Munster has got the Panthers in Penrith and he's looking a bit clunky and the Storm attack he's looking clunky. So yeah, I'd just stick with Cody Munster.
It was someone I was looking at bringing in a few weeks ago and when he came back, and I'm sort of glad I didn't go there, just because he just hasn't really clicked yet. And yeah, like you said, Cody Walker has a good matchup this week, So I think I would just be holding firm for now.
And our final question from James Joey Marnu or Zach Lomax. Very good question, Joey Man who is a lot cheaper, So that could be a factor for you if you've got other trades, If it's your last trade and you've got the cash, I'd be tempted to go. Lomax got a pretty good run home, Dragon's got a lot to play for or Dragons fans are on bias. But Marnu is I mean with his run home as well, it's very tempting.
They both got a pretty good run home, but I guess it just depends on your cash situation. I like them both. I wanted to bring in Lomax last week, but just couldn't quite swing it. It would have taken two trades, whereas I could bring in Marsu with one, So I kind of regret, not just what burning the trades I would prefer. If you had to make me choose between one, I would rather have Lomax, but I think both are great purchases.
Yeah. Well, that is it for our team's podcast. Good to see that Elie Katoa and Dominie Young have both been named. That's big news for super Coaches to come out of this big thanks to Wilson. Smith will be shooting by hold Cell and Wave watched straight after this, so look out for them and catch a ladder
