What was the main aim of liberation movements and have all of them fulfilled their mission?

None of us can dispute the fact that liberation movements have played a pivotal role in fighting for national independence, self-determination, and the establishment of a state based on the will of the people. But we also need to acknowledge the fact that many of them once in power, struggle to translate their liberation rhetoric into tangible improvements in people’s lives and this often leads to disillusionment and a loss of popular support like we have witnessed in recent years. To assess and address some of the challenges faced by these movements. As from tomorrow, the ANC will host the Liberation Movements Summit that is aimed at revitalising, strengthening and enhancing relations between these iconic movements, while also using the platform to revisit some of the key principles that define these movements. So what has gone wrong and why is their credibility under threat? For more on this, we are joined by….
