The trial-within-a-trial in the Senzo Meyiwa murder case is currently underway in the high court in Pretoria. The case was adjourned this morning to allow the defence to go through the dockets of ongoing investigations the accused are linked to. Five men are currently on trial for the murder of the soccer captain who was shot and killed in 2014. The defence is challenging the admissibility of confession statements allegedly made by some of the accused. Lead investigator in the matter Brigadier Bongani Gininda has been on the witness stand. SARS announce collection tall for 2025 financial year

Members of the South African National Defence Force have begun deploying across parts of the Western Cape from today, as part of a wider national effort to combat crime. More than 2,200 soldiers have been deployed to patrol crime-ridden areas in the Western Cape, Gauteng, Eastern Cape, Free State and North West. The deployment forms part of Operation Prosper and is set to continue until March 2027
