Members of the South African National Defence Force have begun deploying across parts of the Western Cape from today, as part of a wider national effort to combat crime. More than 2,200 soldiers have been deployed to patrol crime-ridden areas in the Western Cape, Gauteng, Eastern Cape, Free State and North West. The deployment forms part of Operation Prosper and is set to continue until March 2027
