AfriForum and the Southern African Agri Initiative (SAAI) have announced that they have requested countries worldwide to impose targeted sanctions against Julius Malema for continued chanting of “Kill the Boer”. These two organisations have also launched a detailed charge sheet against Malema, called the Malema Dossier. Interestingly, some of you may recall that in 2022, Judge Edwin Molahlehi ruled that the singing of the song “Kill the Boer, Kill the Farmer” doesn’t constitute hate speech and if anything the song deserves to be protected under the rubric of freedom of speech as it articulates the failure of the current government to address issues of economic empowerment and land division.
