Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana has announced that the South African government, through the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has significantly intensified efforts to curb fraud within the social grant system. According to him, SASSA has upgraded its biometric and income verification processes, resulting in nearly 35 000 grants being identified as incorrect or fraudulent, and immediately terminated.
