We are 7 days away from schools re-opening and with the number of rape incidents reported around educational institutions, many organisations are concerned about the kind of people being allowed around children. Second-quarter crime statistics for the 2024/25 financial year, released in November last year, show that at least 106 rape incidents occurred at educational institutions countrywide. Yesterday we spoke to an unemployed doctor who is part of a group of doctors who were protesting outside the Premier’s office in the Eastern Cape. The Eastern Cape Department of Health responded to these protests on the show as well. The South African Medical Association is also deeply concerned about the alarming number of junior doctors who remain unemployed despite completing their community service. Zimbabwean journalist Hopewell Chin’ono weighs in on SA’s immigration debate and what needs to be done to get to the bottom of this thorny issue. Chin’ono argues that Zimbabweans must understand that the immigration debate in South Africa is based on real concerns from ordinary South Africans and that this issue will not go away if the ANC continues to babysit ZANU PF.
