50% of SA’s parolees reoffend after their release

We look at some of the issues that are being discussed at the National Parole Review Summit that is currently underway in Pretoria. The summit seeks to conduct a thorough examination of South Africa’s parole system. Correctional Services National Commissioner, Makgothi Thobakgale has revealed that over 50% of the country’s 55 000 parolees reoffend after their release and only 10% get rearrested after committing more crimes.
