Here we go.
She's a ten time grabb Me Award win, a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, and not across the globe as the Queen of funk. Nobody does it better than Chuck Cuff.
We've been singing this all morning. With a career spanning more than five decades, the music legend is set to celebrate her legendary career and showcase her finest hits on a tour around the country next month. And we are through to say you. Taka Khan joined us live this morning. Hello, lovely to see you. Gosh, what an absolute thrill it is to have you on the show. Fifty years of making music now looking back, did you ever expect that you would still be on the stage going on tour five decades in.
Now? I didn't, we deman didn't know what I'd be doing. I had no idea what'd be happening. Yeah, I didn't think about the future that much.
Did you realize in your future that there would be the biggest lounge chair in the world for you?
Well, I always have liked, always like oversized furniture.
There you go, all right, Now you're touring Australia next month. Such great excitement down here for that. What do you love about coming to Australia to form?
You know, I love the people. I think that the people make a place. It's the people well in Australia, Sydney, especially with the Opera House and that is a really beautiful place.
Which is one of the places you will be performing at when you're and you're also heading to the Blues Pest in Byron Bay as well off. That is such that is one of the funnest festivals. It's just got the best atmosphere. Do you get to mix with sort of other generations of artists when you go to those festivals? Do you get to sort of catch up and chat to that next generation and do you tell them many words and wisdom?
Yes? I do And I love that love, you know, seeing and meeting new artists espec to the younger ones. I love it. I love also collaborating with them. So it's it's really wonderful. I think that that Tli. I'm still in this business. That's one of the reasons I'm still here, you know, is to collaborate and to give some knowledge.
Yeah, we're looking at all these old clips, these great songs. I mean, I've been walking around the corridors here singing I'm every woman? Which to stop?
Such catchy?
Catchy?
Do you have a favorite? Oh?
God, no, I have so many songs. I don't know, I don't I can't remember. So how can I tell you what the favorite is?
And they're like I imagine they're like your children. They'll be hard to pick your family when when you've got so many amazing songs that have you know, just been so iconic.
I like them. I actually liked them all or I wouldn't have done them, you know.
Yeah, yeah, and that is why fifty years in you're still around, because you love what you do and it shows. Now, can you tell us give us a bit of insight. How was touring different now compared to say, maybe in the seventies or eighties where things were. Was it a bit more fun and a bit more loose back then?
Yeah, it was.
It was.
It was a little wilder, you know, because we didn't have a lot of the I don't know what you would call it a lot of things in order like we do today, you know. I mean, travel is changed for everybody now, you see everybody's flying. I remember a time when I was flying to Japan and there were like maybe ten people on the plane and everybody was smoking cigarettes and drinking, So you know, I remember that. So things have really really changed, especially in travel.
Yeah, we love hearing you sing, but you're also being played in the car as one of the voice options on the ways navigation have. Are you good at telling people where to go?
Yeah? Well I think it's a good way to drive. I think it's calm, you know, it's call me and loving and wanting everybody to get there in one piece. That's the thing that's my whole objective doing it this way. Situation you think I wanted to, you know, make sure people job safely because I see a lot of craziness on the road.
Yeah, well, tracking come, we would follow you anywhere. The links in details for your Aussie tour as well over the next month are on our website and we are so excited to see there. It is on the screen as well all the places you're playing it. We're so excited to have you down here. We can't wait.
I want a lounge chair for it, I really am. I love me to talk to you this morning. Thanks for joining us.
