Could a Democratic Socialist Win in Deep-Red Florida?

Democratic Socialist Angie Nixon is running for U.S. Senate with a grassroots campaign that has surprised many, even within the Democratic party. If elected, she would become  Florida’s first Black senator.

With two weeks to go before the midterm elections, Nixon joins Jorge and Paola to break down how she is connecting with voters across the political spectrum at a time when Florida has a record number of registered Republican voters. She shares her views on the U.S. embargo on Cuba and the need for democratic elections in Venezuela. Nixon also talks about the anti-immigrant rhetoric she sees fueling division in Latino and Haitian communities, her plan to abolish ICE, and her three-part plan for bringing down costs for Floridians.
