A suggestion that there could be strategic reasons behind reports Russia is preparing to attack Poland.
Poland's Prime Minister Donald Tusk is citing US intelligence claiming Moscow was planning an armed "provocation" to test NATO's resolve.
The US State Department haven't confirmed the reports.
Associate Fellow at Chatham House Keir Giles told Mike Hosking that these reports have been swirling around for the last couple of weeks.
He says the suspicion is it's all happening before a NATO summit, to bring more attention to the fact the US should be strengthening its NATO ties, not pulling away.
