Mandla David Makolane was born and bred in Jane
Furse, a growing township in Sekhukhune.
He came to Gauteng 8 years back when he enrolled at
Vaal University of technology for a diploma in
Policing(2016) and graduated in 2019 after enrolling
for Advanced Diploma in Policing. He Published his first
book called An early confession in 2019 and from there
he never stopped writing. He has worked as an Intern
at Gauteng department of community safety for 2
years and 5 months.
One of the reasons he wrote this book is realising that
The phase of being a student is somewhat stressful and
that growing up has its own challenges. This includes
the fear of failure and confusion in your career choice
and finding yourself.
Majority of students are battling with depression as
well as anxiety. Mandla just wants his readers to know
that such obstacles should never hinder their
happiness, mental health and enthusiasm in life. This is
why he titled his book “Depression in Varsity”, which is
a book that seeks to assist students who are going
through difficult mental health issues by demonstrating
how to overcome their depressive thoughts and reclaim
their hope again.
