123: Backslide

Published Oct 10, 2022, 7:00 AM

Welcome back to our show! This week we watch every roommate backslide into an ex or cling to a ridiculous earring.

Ring ring ring ring man, I please speak with Zoe. Oh, hello, Lamar, Let's patch in Hannah, God, I forgot what it was like working with you guys. Hello, Hello everyone, Hey, hey, welcome to our show. Episode twenty three backslide. This week's episode is all about knowing when to let go. So the roommates they're in a bit of crisis, right, Jess, she's fresh off a breakup with Fancy Man Russell. You know she's deep in a Joni Mitchell River depression. We've all been there. Instead of Johnny Mitchell, I use Wu Tang Clan. But it's nothing. A stiff drink and a little bit of Paul Again's Linger cannot your. Unfortunately, Paul comes with one major string, mainly he wants to propose to his girlfriend. Speaking to girlfriends Nick and Caroline, they seem to be enjoying one another again m apparently enough for Caroline to ask Nick to move in with her. Wow, it's going there, The roommates say. To test this idea Winston and Schmidt, they showed Nick a little video that he made after Caroline dumped him for the third time. Pitiful old Nick reminds current Nick of all the ways Caroline tormented him. But all Nick can here is it's time to grow up. Somebody else is doing some growing as well. Schmidt and CC no pun intended because with his penis still in the cast. You know, Schmick can't risk being turned on. He can't grow up, bops. So he and CC visit her grandmother at a place that is least likely to turn him on, a retirement home. That Schmidt, you know, he gets uh, he gets the grandma's approval and CC she realizes in this moment that she wants a serious relationship with Schmidt. Broken in this and all but all that emotional honesty, it turned Schmidt on. And even though he's in tremendous pain, you know, he still he still goes through with it, all those emotional thoughts, and it hurts him. Ceci. Now she falls a little bit more in love with Schmidt. During this moment, gains Lingers love hangs in the balance Jess and sense that Paul would make her a cheater. She demands he tell his girlfriend about his transgression. She demands it now, ugly crier, Genslinger, y'all saw how you got Yeah, the snot bubbles and everything like Viella Davis ugly crier gains Linger. He breaks down and he confesses fear drove him to Jess when he really wants to marry Jen. Now, Jess, after proposing to Jenn for gains Linger, reconsiders not just her romantic situation, but Nick's as well. She rushed home to tell Nick he is worthy of love, love is worth the weight, and she will wait with him. But it's already signed a new lease with Caroline and he is moving on out. So that's what happened, y'all? Not back to the podcast. I love this episode. It's a great episode, it really is, and I had completely forgotten about it. Oh I remember a lot of stuff from it, but really the name of the episode. I forgot the whole episode. Oh yeah, there are moments in this episode that I for sure remember, and when I was rewatching it, just like you, I thought, my god, this is the episode that's from Okay, a lot of cool stuff packed into one. Rants are kind of my thing is what has been a like a meme that I've seen a lot, and I was like, I didn't remember what that was from, But now I do. Now I know that it just starts with Joni Mitchell, I was already in. I'm like, I love this episode. I'm in yeah, yeah, And who hasn't listened to River a thousand times when they're sad or going through a breakup? You know, I could tell you, I, Oh you haven't. No, I haven't. In fact when this when I saw the episode, I had no idea you know, actually what actually when we were filming the episode, I had no idea who that was? Never heard it before in my life really really not even like a cover version by somebody else. But now you know, and now you listen to it all the time, right, you get sad, but it is about three times a day, about three times a day, so you're you're recording right now in Canada. Joni Mitchell, she's Canadian. Just just ran into her. That's why she knows about frozen cold rivers, Michell any window and was just like, yeah, this is a song right here because those of us from from California, like you can't skate on a river, that's crazy, like you swim? Excuse me. So the name of the episode is Backslide, written by David Quant, directed by Nanette Bernstein. Um, yeah, remember this because I'm putting it together because remember done the movie, had done the movie with her? Yeah, that's right, Yeah, yeah, did I just say Drew Barry Mayor? I said something Weird's she's famous and I know how to pronounce her name. I know her. It's just because I'm very tired and I can't pronounce things yet. We're recording this kind of early early for us. I had to get my kids ready for school before this. Um so that was chaotic. It was chaotic. So let's start from the top. This. You're listening to river. This is a sad person song. I guess you know again that like me, when you're going through something, is there is there a breakup song that you are actually listened to in your real life or um? Jon It's called Joni Mitchell. All the songs. Yeah, wouldn't you make a Joni Mitchell playlist if you're kind of sad? Wouldn't that be? Because right, just that whole album, that, oh, that whole album is a break up. She wrote that after I think it was her breakup with Graham nash Um. And if you watch her, if you watch like the videos, you can go on YouTube and pull up some like of the you know to Tony going on you know, you know, I don't know, uh, not the Ed Sullivan Show, but shows like that, you know, doing like kind of music shows on TV. And she looks so sad and she plays the dulcimer um on a lot of the songs, and you know, you really feel that, you really feel that sadness. Here's the thing when I watched that called open and you in that sad vibe um. The thing I did remember about this episode because Schmidt's penis is broken and so um CC has to hide her body and they had had me in these like body condresses and heels for so much of this season, and I got to wear flats and hoodies, and by the way, you look so good in those, like like, what's funny is I actually like forgot why you were wearing them, Like I completely forgot. And I was like, I was like I love this like minimalist look on Hannah, Like you know what, because I was like, yeah, like you look like body didn't you could see it. And when you didn't look like a vagrant, you look like the person that you watch when they walk past your house and just stare at him a little bit to let them know they don't come in here. I feel like I remember Liz maybe whether seeing me just in the like in a sweater and sweatpants, and she's like, this isn't reading like she's trying to hide herself. And so the last second they handed me like, oh, I was going to say a tuke, but a beanie. Oh I'm Canadian guys called beanies TuS. Yes, Duke, you better text Shotathan right now. He will cos you won't need it. You won't need a took when a chinook comes in. You know what I mean? When you eat your putin, I don't black man, don't eat tea. By the way, you missing out right, you better go get some pooke teen and you better drink a caesar. Okay. How do you spell to guys? T qu e Oh don't you spell like like used and cueues in our hats? Okay? Anyway, I remember Liz saying, you gotta you have to make her look more as lamore and said like a vagrant. She's gonna actually look like she's hiding everything. And so they just like slam this hat on me, like the ribbon hat, try to make it look more like I was hiding myself and I loved it. I'm so happy it looked very like it actually looked very more contemporary because since obviously these shows are from like ten years ago, it looked like street style now, you know what I mean, Like what what like a cute college student or some thing would wear. Thank you? I will take right. I was happy. You're just saying happiness, Joe. That's all you're seeing. But I remember so different from the body con wearing CC. You like comfort, you like travel, right, I'm not very different. Um. And then when Mary Elizabeth comes in with Jake when we're sitting there and they do that dance, I'd forgotten about that dance. I laughed out loud on my couch last night. That was a real committed bit and it was real funny. I think Jake was talking a little bit. It was he was. I will say this my actually one criticism of this episode is that Mary Elizabeth is under ulus because she's very funny, and like, she she's so funny, and I was like, you know, like, I was like, I wish now it just didn't work for the story, That's why I'm sure. But um uh, she's just so funny and I'm like, oh, I wish we'd gotten to like use a little more of her comic talents, you know, but she's great one person. We did use um a lot more in this episode. Not a lot more than you know, but the comeback of Justin long agains Linger. I forgot when they showed that, like just like his arm or whatever, and it's the morning after and then they kind of um they pulled out and they were lam, don't do it, don't do it, don't do nothing. You said it sad. What happened. What happened when the camera went wide is what I said? What what was What was Latmaren gonna say? Because I said when I pulled out Zoe, I can't trust him anyway. I literally went gains Linger and then then just just goes Kinslinger, and I was like, I forgot it was him, that was your backslide. I did two and I remembered like the whole thing with Jen and you know, proposal and stuff, but I didn't realize, like I completely forgought that this was that episode and the ugly crying the loves of classic um, my favorite classics, my favorite part. One of those things that I that I think about often that I whenever I see Justin. We talked about it um his inability to say Winston. So we all have you know, we have nicknames to each other. I guess you know. We call them Mercedes, Gains, Ginzel, Washington, It's the gains of the world, as we know, stupid stuff like that, and then he goes he goes hey Schmidt, uh if you if you during that day, I remember the Nette Nanette kept asking him to just say Winston, and each take, one take he goes out and he goes hey Schmidt, Hey Wimble, and then the next thing, Hey Schmidt, Hey Washington, and then finally she goes, I just need one just one remember one take of Winston, and he goes, got you one take and as he's going out and he goes, hey Schmidt, Hey Winston's I remember that so well. If if the thing about Justin is if he committed to a bit, it was like trying to pry a bone out of like a dog's mouth, like it's just not happening, like aside for him, and he's like he's like yeah, sure, and then the director would say like seriously, man, like could you do the thing? And he'd be like yeah, yeah, absolutely, and then he was just at the last minute. It was like prat falls in the Christmas episode. I remember they were like, please do one where you walk up normally and prat falls every time, and then would just surprise you, like every single time you want director like please, don't earnestly ask him to do something different, because the moment you're earnest about wanting you to stop a bit, you've just poured gasoline on the flame and never get it. I'd say you have a better chance of him saying the real line saying please never say the real line. Don't do the real line. This is don't do it. Yeah, this is great, just definitely don't do it. Don't You won't be able to make it as good as these. Um. Also, I got a very good drink suggestion out of this episode. Remember when he said, do you want to Nick Miller Manhattan straight bourbon in a plastic cup? Yeah, it's very easy. It's a very easy to make. I feel like there's a lot of drink and food suggestions that come over the season of New Girl. I'm gonna start writing them down and maybe when you finally get to our series finale, that's what well, I'll serve up and we can all take that episode together. By the way, Johnthan got back to me, he said he did call uh them two rowers. Yeah, that's what they're called. If you went you wanted a beanie, you know what they would think. A little beanie is probably one of the little small cats have, like the Calora. That's right, like a Dennis the Menace. That's what they would give you, and then your ears would be I would like that better, honestly. Also, we're back in the bar again. Um this this this is the original bar or had we at this point converted over to the state. It was the original. It was the original because we actually were in that Koreatown neighborhood for a few days on this episode. Um, and we didn't get that bar, I think until season two. Um. But um, if you notice the ex ear of the apartment they were moving to was actually a building that was just right around the corner from the Prince. Yeah, yeah, I see. Also something in this episode that I and we talked about this on the show how I was season one is it's just been so bad to me just this lens. It your lens, this my lens. I mean, it's great for the fans and people love it. I I over analyze myself and and some of the bits that I had to do, and how maybe I didn't capitalize on the bits, or maybe I just didn't find them interesting, or maybe they were just weird. I don't know what it was, but this earring thing, like one thought my character had a So so I've never had my ears pierced, and so I want to say. The suggestion was, hey, Lamar, are you willing to get your ears pierced through this? Yeah? And I did not say that yes, I said yes. So we used the magnet. We used the magnet ear ring, which if I find the photo, I'll post on my Instagram. When I was younger, I went and had a magnet ear ring because I wanted to be cool. But I was not cool enough to get my ears bears. I was still scared to do it. Um, So in this episode, I have a big diamond ear ring. Then i't have a loop earring. Then I have a hoop whop feather a loop. I don't wear ear rings. Okay, I don't know the jargonm you know women who wear ear rings and maybe some men who wear ear rings. No, when I look at them. Okay, I'm not. I'm not. I'm not objectifying them by their loop earrings. I'm looking into their there is and their souls, not the jeweler. Okay, So can I ask you a question. Do you remember if props or costumes was responsible for picking those ear rings? It's gotta be props, I want to say, but you know, ultimately that would be there was overlapped a lot of times with certain things, like certain things like props would take in certain things. But it felt like it had been props written all over that feather earring. I mean, the peacock feather was this is I mean, I feel like that could have come from we had an amazing Yeah, I'm just gonna blame the more I think this is going to be great. I think it's funny. I think it's a feather. Oh thanks Dallas Um. Yeah. So anyway, that's just another example of the U some of my here's bad taste in my mouth from from the season. Here's my question. This is what I thought when I was really watching it. I thought it was funny. By the way, you were very funny. You were very funny. But here's the thing I was like, I bet you. Lamar's gonna talk about this on the podcast tomorrow. Is you are sensitive to anything that can be mildly painfall and sometimes those clip on ear rings can pinch a little Were they for you uncomfortable or did they hurt a little bit? Serious? Because clip on earrings before, asks Zoe, when you wear clip on ear rings, they could be heavy and pull and they pinch them. That's right, That's why most people get their ears pierced. And so then it kind of like fits a little better. But should we talk about Lamouren's pain threshold in the first episode of next season. No, it's a big topic. I could give birth to a child right now and be fine. Oh, the ladies on this podcasting giggle now, are like, no way to burn this place down. Ladies, what's all the big deal about it? We're asking if you could handle a clip on earring. It's the question I can handle. I'm not gonna lie to you the first time. The first time I put that that magnet, that magnet had a little little pinch to it. But if you know me, if all all the fans out there, if you know me, you know that I used that pain as motivation to really get the job done, because this is a man who sprained his risks getting up from a couch. That's right, No, I just located my thumb. I dislocated my thumb getting in from dislocated its thumb getting up from the couch. I can't control what my bones do. Okay, I guess that's all my bones. When we come back from this little break, I want to talk about the other huge casting that happened on this show that made me cry. And we're back. How was the break for you guys? Yeah? And so the casting that made me cry? So I remember it was the day before we were going to shoot the what would you call it now, the old folks home scene, Yes, where Cci goes to visit her retirement community, the retirement community scene. Yes, Where did you shoot that? I thought, yeah, I think they made They built a little stage for it, built a stage, they build a set on a stage for it. And it was the day before and I went over. Liz was there sitting in video village, and Love happened to be there, and there's just a bunch of people hanging out and I think Liz, or Bred or Dave somebody was like, oh, we've we we've cast your grandma. And I was like, oh who. They're like, don't worry. You know, she's some actress in New York. Apparently she's very good. And I was like all right, they're like matter something, and both Love Rocket and I went, are you wait? Are you saying mother Joffrey? And they're like, yeah, I think that's who it is. We're like, oh my god, and I started crying and Love freaked out, and they're like, why is she? Like she's like a like an icon. She's like a living legend. She's an incredibly accomplished, phenomenal actress at all these merchant Ivory movies. But she's also like our Julia child, Like she's like this incredible chef with like the best cookbooks ever, Like everybody at least at our community really knows her, and worldwide she's so we had a living legend the show. And then I'm talking about for once, we weren't talking about Lamar and I at this moment, because I was like, oh my god, this is crazy. I can't believe I'm gonna meet her tomorrow. This is so excited. She's like my grandmother. I can't get over it. And then I went oh no, oh, my gosh, I remembered what the scene was. I have to spend my time finally meeting this incredible woman talking about a broken dick. And I was like, this is and then culturally to India, I'm like, I don't know how in front of mother Jo this is all inappropriate. I'm like, you guys have to rewrite this whole scene and we could just talk about something a little more respectful. I was like, this is crazy. I don't know how to do this in front of Mother Jeoffrey. She read the script, she look, she was fine, this is my own personal meltdown. So the day comes. The next day comes. I actually you see me, I'm wearing like a like a cameo necklace that my my grandma gave me because it was a scene about my grandma, so I wanted her to kind of be with me for that day. So I wore that necklace and I showed to me Mother Joffrey, and I was like, oh gosh, this is the whole thing about a broken penis. And and she laughed and somebody then showed me with her. They're a um she did some like crazy uh like rap. Yes, that was so vile and disgusting and stircle, and I was like, Oh, this is like a PG scene for you compared to all the crazy fun stuff. She's awesome edging anyway, it was really great. I can't believe that we got so lucky to have her on the show and she agreed to do such a silly bit for us. Um for anybody who's out there who's really good with editing, can you put can you make a video of of Mata Joffrey with little baby in the background or have her lip singing to little baby? Yeah, I gotta find that YouTube video of her doing this rap because it's so funny. I'm gonna send it to you guys. And m made me feel ridiculous for being concerned about a woman who can make her very own grown up dresses. I had no idea. Yeah, this is about her, obviously, because you made it. I remember, I remember when it happened. You made such a big deal about it. You were running around like because almost like it was Christmas and you were tapping everyone on the shoulder, going, look up, it's snowing, it's Christmas. You just everyone knew about it, because do you remember when Kobe showed up to the set when I reached it up to the set and like that was my feeling when I knew Mother Joffrey, Like that's how I felt too, So I was like, you know who's coming, She's gonna be here. Um. It was very exciting. This was also the scene and poor Nanette Bernstein Bernstein, who was like, I had to watch me lose my mind because Schmidt had to do that crazy when Harry met Sally kind of scream melt down guttural sounds that caught me off guard and made me laugh and fall under the desk and cry. My lashes off and all my makeup off, and they had to just keep resetting and I couldn't stop laughing. And poor our poor director was like, could you please just like hold your ship together for one take? Um? But Max stopped me every time. That's why you got a clean single. That's right, that's right. Zoe knows now in this um, in this episode. Um, And this is something that I I've had to do before, or kind of like a decision that in my real life I've had to do before. Nick and Caroline they go they go apartment hunting. Now now I personally know like I was always afraid to do that. I was always afraid to move in with my significant other. I once lived with an X for about four months and that put my house hunt on level ten. Like I was living I said, Okay, I gotta find I gotta find other place ago. Um, Now for you all, did you do you find that? Once you Once you do that move in, it's a lot harder to to make like rational decisions based on your relationship. Where are you now? This is it? I'm here now, I'm gonna I'm willing to take on more. I'm willing to deal with more, even if I'm not feeling it because we live together. Is that something? That's what Nick is going through in this moment. He's not sure if he should be with her, but she asked him to move in, and you know, now he's kinda you know, he's kind of stuck. Uh. Yeah, It's definitely not something you want to do if you're unsure about a person. It's it's a lot of closeness. I think a lot of people do like the one foot in before they like, you know, make the full two step in, like you find a place together, and then you just you know, you have your place just for an extra month, just in caith in case you got you like have toothbroth brusha's you know at that's that's that's enough flow for for for for Nick and and Carolou Hugh, Carly Caroline. Carolina U also felt it very interesting that she lied about her age, even though it was just three years. It's still I forgot about forgot this episode. It's about that, yeah about it. That was very funny. So here we haven't gotten into uh the uh gainsling Er marriage proposal yet, uh, which is I mean this is a massive like like ginsling Or cheats on his girlfriend with Jess and then reveals that he wants to propose and uh Jen his girlfriend UM, who is like Jesse's twin, UM basically has like that was she was really good at that actress. UM her name is Melissa Tang and she was really great and I love They go through like a myriad of emotions because first Jess decides to tell her that that UM canceling Er cheated. She takes in that information she's gonna leave, but then he ends up proposing to her, so she just she spans the gamut of emotions and I thought that was she She did a great job, and Justin of course did a great job, like navigating all those emotions. Did he make up? And I'm sorry but he at one point he calls her jen of for Ruth tight Toyogi. Yes, And I was like, why do I feel like he made that up? It does feel like something he made up, but it was definitely written in the script. Yeah, um, yeah, Jennifer Ruth Toyoji was a good, very good name, and uh yeah, anyway, I thought she was great and and Justin was was great. But of course I think, you know, for Jess, it's like, you know what I was actually thinking. I couldn't believe how mean I was to him about about his ugly crying about him about it. You were so mean to him about it. They did a montage of it in the episode. Yeah, I was like, I was like, dang, Like I was like, it's like it's clearly triggering for Jazz, like it triggers something from childhood, because like she's irrationally mad at him for how he looks when he's crying, which like he can't help, you know, but just as nice. Yeah, exactly. That that was shocking. That was shocking. It was shocking out of character. Um. Now, there are people who can cry pretty well and look good doing it. Violent Davis is not one of them, though days she's always actors of her generation. Okay, she's one of the Like she's in my top five all time. I love her, but there's always comes out of her notes every time. I love it actually because it's real. Like I think a lot of times people too pretty when they cry, and like, do people really look like that in real life? Like when you see like somebody on screen who looks like completely perceive while they're crying, they just have like tears running running down their face, like I've done it as an actor, believe me, you me. I'm like, I don't want to ruin. I don't want to deal with like hair, makeup coming and fixing me like NonStop. But but like viol Viola Davis a really good actor, and that's that's what makes it real. That is what makes it real. But that's not I'm always like, I'm always like, damn, she got another sinus infection? No self consciousness. I love I love it, bring me more more. She has a new movie out. Everybody go see it, Woman King. Everybody see it. Pastic woman, fantastic. Don't see it unless you're a five year old or something, and you're probably not old enough. I just need to add one thing about the proposal. When I was watching it, I have to say, Zoe incredible in that scene. Thank you. It's this moment right between um, between Jen and Paul. I get at the proposal and they're doing such a great job and it's so funny. But when you're shoving the engagement ring and you never it was just amazing. You never broke icon to act with Jen. You're just like here and you never look at Paul, which I think, by the way, is appropriate. You guys had just been together, you know what I mean. I don't know the way. It was so great. And then it came slid into the scene with Jake Johnson where you do that beautiful speech at the end that then feels so heartbreaking when he's just like kind of shrugs it off and walks away. Haven't you been there before? Like in that moment where you you kind of are vulnerable in front of somebody and then they're like yeah, like um, oh, no big deal or whatever, and they don't they kind of respond like that with no emotion, and you're like, how did I give you so much emotion and you gave me nothing? Yes, I was. I mean it was really beautiful those two scenes, one where you almost say nothing and then the other where you say everything, but they both had the same like weight of delivery and you really felt it, and I just thought it was like, really beautiful. Thank you so much. I really apreciate that I was pissed when you didn't win the Emmy because it would have been for you to go up there and start crying when you give you a speech, so I can anticipate that that's not bubble coming out. I never get to see it. That's when, yeah, you know, future, future, Emmy future. UM. I got nominated that that year for an Emmy, and then um got nominated for Golden Golds. But you know, I never I never got to win. I did win a choice, yeah, critics Choice, which was really cool, and I was not at all expecting it. I had no speech planned and I went up and uh just rambled, So there you go. But I probably ugly cried a little bit. Speaking of rambling and backsliding, we should slide all into true American everybody let's go. Why don't we hear some ads? Uh, everybody have some wonderful products that you're gonna love. Welcome to We've never found the bear though, Hannah, Oh my god? Yes, did you look for the bear? And we are back, folks. I didn't find a baron backside. I feel like Lamouren, you've been waiting for me to talk about it. I didn't find a barn backside. I'm telling you, I'm going to talk to Joel. I'm going to do a bear episode and we're just gonna do a quick all the way from one down to twenty four identification of the bears. I'm going to go through my d ms. You guys have sent me where bears are that I've missed. We're gonna make a comprehensive list, and then we'll go back and look at all the bears. Huh, go back to look at all the bears. You gonna call that episode the bear back episode? Lazy? You are? You know what? I think? We're all the best. We're all the best. Should we play True American? Yes? Welcome to True American, where the rules changed weekly and you leave more confused than when you showed up This week we're playing Martha Stewart Weddings. Jen and Paul cannot ever tell anyone the story of how they got engaged. Ain't that the truth? Her friends wouldn't let her go through with the marriage, and his family would disown him for the shame of it. We're each going to make up a story they call their loved ones, and you guys can vote for the best one on I G alright, well, challenge accepted. I guess what we're all going to have to do this separately? Cool music teacher Paul Genslinger and flout Jennifer Ruth Toyoji got engaged last Thursday after a whirlwind romance in the school where they met. The lucky fellow popped out of a cellowcase with a one carrot diamond ring, causing Jennifer, a woman of delicate constitution, to faint. Luckily, seventh grade teacher Jessica Day, a bystander, just happened to be there to catch the fall. Talk about a lucky break. Both were crying from joy and relief that Jen was not injured. Paul was so nervous to propose the Misday had to swoop in and help with the proposal. Luckily, she teaches poetry in her classroom and words come easily to her. What a funny coincidence they all just happened to be there together, And what a memorable proposal that definitely and totally had nothing weird or shameful about it, one hundred percent above board. This is the story of how Paul proposed to Jen. Paul knew that Jen loved polka dots and feminist rants, much like someone else he had cared for in his past, so he knew the person very well their likes and dislikes because Paul had a type. So he calls his parents and it kind of goes like this, My mom, Hi, Dad, um, So I have some really big news to tell you. It's really exciting. You know Jen. I love her so much. I love her more than anyone else in the entire world. So I took her to a cat cafe full of little kittens that all need adoption, and we sat there and she cried that beautiful, ugly cry of hers and I cried that beautiful ugly cry of mine, and watching her were those kittens let me know that she would be an incredible mother, and I knew I had made the right choice. And then we hear a gas from his parents, and so, right there, surrounded by fluffy, little baby cats, I got down on one knee and said, Jen, will you marry me? And she said, of course I will, and then she just started sneezing non stop, and I realized that she was allergic to cats. And I never cocked it, So it's okay, mom and dad. She'd said, yes, we put the ring on the finger and we got out of there, and now we have such a fun story of how we got engaged at the cat cafe. It did make us realize, though, that we wanted something little to care for. No, she isn't pregnant. We actually went to the rescue center and adopted a puppy. So you're going to get a daughter in law and a little puppy grand baby. I think that's the story that he would tell. I think that's how he got engaged. So you still have, like something fun and cute that went wrong. Um, but it's not. I slept with my ex and then my ex helped me propose, because that's a terrible story, you guys, But you still want something cute and fun that went wrong, and the allergic to cats. That's their cute little moment that they'll remember forever, but also for never because it didn't happen like that, because Paul made a big mistake. Um, that's my pitch got engaged in a cat cafe. Well, clearly the real way Paul in gin Um became engaged is very problematic. They wouldn't be able to tell the family that that Paul was out here cheating, just throwing the d around like that, Oh willie nilly, no pun intended, just slinging it, you know. And they shouldn't have been the should have kept that in his pants, you know, you you break that out when you're at home. Shame on him. But he can't tell his family his friends that, So you know, I think the story they go with is very clear. You know, Um, one day Jen Jen was out. She was at a restaurant, Joey's, Joey's and Woodland Hills love the place. And you know, while she's sitting down, she's she's trying to enjoy her steak and ravioli bianco. If you, if you, if you, if you've never had it, go to you gotta go and try it. This is I love this restaurant. You know, I want to I want to own one one day. Um So, if y'all listening to Joey's I want to own one. But she's sitting down and she's just you know, she's kind of um, just basking in the ambiance of being solo. She loves this. This is a thing for her. She loves being alone. And obviously Paul is there. You know, he's across the room. He too enjoys than biance of being alone. He's at the bar, ordered himself and the dory sour. He turns around and right when he starts to walk, in typical again's Linger fashion, he trips over absolutely nothing and then Midori sour goes flying all over Jen. My my mind. Now, what some people might call a terrible freak of an accident, we call fate. Because Jen's drink of choice is a Madori Sour. Paul happens to be the clumsiest man on earth. That Madori sour. Most of it goes right into Jen's mouth and she enjoys it. She wipes her glasses off. She stands up into her surprise. There is Paul gains Linger and they go home. They do it, They do anything do it again, you know, dude stuff, and then it's like love and it's like and then Paul gets down on one knee when they're at the top of Mount Everest and he proposes. She says yes, and they ski all the way down. Well, that wraps it up for True America. Hannah and Lamauren love you guys. Listeners at home in podcast land, We love you too.
