On today's Arts and Entertainment feature, we shine a spotlight on a powerful new South African film making waves at the Durban International Film Festival — God’s Work.
Joining us in studio is the visionary behind the film, award-winning Durban-based director Michael James. Known for his bold, disruptive storytelling, Michael takes us deep into the heart of Durban’s underrepresented communities, sharing raw and intimate stories of a group of marginalized men battling personal demons and societal challenges.
Alongside him is Dr Raymond Perrier, academic, activist, and Director of the Denis Hurley Centre, whose frontline experience in Durban’s inner city adds critical context to the themes explored in the film.
Described as a “haunting and visually arresting South African debut feature,” God’s Work is not just cinema — it’s a call to awareness, empathy, and social change.
