John Maytham is joined by Daily Maverick journalist Rebecca Davis to unpack the state of women in South African politics.

As the country gears up for the local government elections, she takes a closer look at the candidates' lists, which reveal a striking trend: despite a significant increase in the number of nominations, the proportion of women among candidates has remained virtually unchanged since 2021.
