Tire Raq dot com the way tire buying should be. Now. Today is a very special day, hallowed day in the sporting universe, because you have what many considered to be three of the greatest participants in their respective sports, all born on this day, December thirtieth, obviously a few years apart. And if you know Lebron was a year older, it would help this whole thing anyway. Sandy Kofeks eighty nine years old today, all right, or he was a year older, I guess maybe, yeah, And then we've got Tiger Woods forty nine, so nice forty year difference. And now we've got Lebron James turning forty today. So I'm just trying to make it round because then we can try maybe do it by decades, like from Tiger to Lebron to whoever the next would be. But I looked at December thirtieth birthdays. We got Lei La Leie, Tyrese Gibson, the actor, Eliza Duke Show, the actress, the late Davy Jones from The Monks's Sean Hannity, and Carson Wentz. Carson went but he's thirty two, so it's not on a decade thing gonna play though.
Yeah, most likely one of these things is not like the other.
No offense, Carson wentz, I'm sorry, but you can't mess with the greatness of That's the thing of I was trying to think to myself because I obviously, being a golf fan, Mike wi't lean towards Tiger, but I was. I was thinking, like, Tigers still more popular than Lebron right worldwide, and then nah, he's not. I think Tiger accomplished greater things, but I don't think it's more popular.
I will say I did love the run, that the reaction, the hugs he and his ex wife, but certainly he and his son. After the hole in one, I want to talk about a real motion moment that just popped on a screen, like an absolute explosive moment of dad. And then he made fun of him by saying I didn't that when I was like six, But I mean one of the cool moments. Because you're dealing with injuries at the top of the board, yes, on the PGA Tour, so you know, little Tiger woods injected back into the end of your blood is not a bad thing.
Never never hurts, and a year away from the PGA Tour champions which is interesting because Tiger had said in the prime of his career, I would expect any athlete, especially in golf, when you're talking about a senior circuit, if you would you you aren't thinking of that. In fact, when you're on the top of your game, you're dominating throughout the world, you're thinking, well, I'm going to do this for the next twenty years than even when I'm fifty, I'm gonna be trying to win and dominating on this tour. And I think Tiger will still do that, but I do think that his mind will change about actually playing some PGA Tour Champions events, And especially for a guy who's only gonna be playing he really only wants to play majors the rest of his career. But you're not gonna win or compete in any majors if you're only playing four tournaments a year. So he does have to play another events. And I'm wondering when he gets in the fifties, which is next year, do you use some of those champions events which are only three rounds to kind of get yourself into playing, you know, competitive nature, but not having to do all of the responsibilities of a PGA Tour playing the four rounds and doing what you're doing. It's curious. I don't think it's now. I think it's a much more realistic option for him. Not that he's going to make his living in that tour, but there was a time and place where he said he never would have thought and we never thought either. We thought that he'd be competing at fifty in fifty five. But the injuries and everything that's happened to him is kind of taken over. I just wonder if that's part of his future, at least something he can't.
Take the game out of him. No, clearly he's battled through a lot. He could have walked away a long long time ago and nobody would have falled him. Sure, Duran, the car accident, the surgery's recovery from that, like all of those different things. If he walked away, nobody would have thought differently about him. Yeah, Hey, it was a hell of a run while we had it. But he keeps trying to fight, which says he ain't done.
You know, the unique thing about Tiger is when he broke his leg and you know, had the torn ligaments at his knee in two thousand and eight, I think some people blend in the you know, the scandal with that, But Tiger was able to come back from that injury and play then the next year in two thousand and nine, and then it was in the fall of two thousand and nine that that scandal ended up hitting and he ended up playing again in twenty ten. But then you have the host of other injuries. Then you had the car accident to it, you know, three years ago, whatever it was. Yeah, it's just it's yeah, all the injuries and stuff adds up.
Tell you what, that stretcher road is no joke. I drove and drove it many many times to and from soccer practices and workouts with my kid. Gets that a little bit too too fast, no matter what, given in perfect conditions.
I mean, I'm going to be forty eight next month, so I feel like I'm not in this same shape Figer obviously, which I was.
But I mean there's the there's.
The oh I pulled, I pulled the muscle in my back reaching for the you know, bottle of soda.
Yeah, you know, like that sort of thing.
For him to deal with all of his stuff and then still have that stuff to deal with, Yeah, it's tough.
Yeah, watch me recoil. Anytime there's any kind of resistance with my left shoulder. I hold the scream in, but the tears are real. Hey, Lebron James turning forty, So that means our guy, Dan White, the La Times frequent guest of the program, Friend of the Show, was part of the media throng in front of Lebron's locker. They made a big trade yesterday, D'Angelo Russell gets dealt. They bring in Dorian Finney Smith. Those are the principles. Some trade, some draft picks and everything else. Uh, the usual accoutrements mixed. They're in. But for Lebron James, you know, it's always the question about father time. Here was his response to Dan's question, how was you at tonight?
It won't be because I can't play the game at a high level because of that, Because, to be honest, if I really wanted to, probably played this game at a high level. Talk about another weird that I might say, how about another five ex seven years? About one? But I'm not gonna do that. You walk away and with it?
Of course I know he.
Did it.
Oh I come back?
Oh no, I'm like.
And I will miss the hell out it.
For sure, but no, I won't walk away when it come back.
No, all right, should have never come back. Twenty eight games played this year, averaging thirty five minutes a night, twenty three point five points, shooting about fifty percent from the field, eight rebounds, nine assists, filling the stat sheet, and playing many a heavy minute. Which that's the larger part of the program. Right. It goes back to you and I all our lives. Growing up, you'd watch wide receivers where the ego would not allow them to say, you know what, you can still be a good possession guy. You can go be that number two guy. May can go work out of the slot a little bit and still catch the balls. You won't be the number one target, not gonna be the go to, but you're gonna pile up some receptions. They're just not gonna be glory receptions anymore. How many of those guys have been willing to do it?
Phew yes and kwam Bolden, Yeah, yeah, there's one.
The greatest box out, power forward like player on a football field ever. But it's few same thing with Lebron. It's the all right, are you okay with the id? Because you could go probably dominate twenty twenty two to twenty four minutes a night and play another couple of years. But the thirty five minutes a night, I don't know how long that lasts, because we've even watched it several times this year, either needing a couple of days off or basically only playing half a game, because that's the other part, right, he's not playing defense, but one or two plays a game.
Gosh, it's really tough to not talk out of both sides of my mouth when we're talking about Lebron, because it is an accomplishment to see what he's doing and what I mean, just what he's done with his body and I always been able to pretty much avoid injury that just that stuff doesn't happen, So there's an appreciation of it. But it also does feel that he's always gained the system to get his to get his number, and to think of Lebron now as the type of player that he is, the type of player during all those consecutive finals appearances were him being the dominant player in the NBA, leading his team to those NBA Finals appearances and still getting what he's.
Got, And that's the difference of it.
Of like I mean, if you were to play that position at that age, I mean, just even do what he's doing now is pretty remarkable and deserves credit. But it's also just the point of it's not the same Lebron that it was a decade ago or eight years ago, or you know, around when they were competing or they won the title in Cleveland, or even four years ago with the Lakers and when they won in the bubble. It's just that's not it, because that's not who the guy that he is anymore. And so there's no doubt in my mind that he could probably go out and get twenty three and eight and do what he wants to do because he's in good shape, because he's going to get the calls because he's Lebron James, and people are gonna let him shoot the basketball. But is that really productive in terms of what you're trying to provide your team and what you're doing with your team. Just not him being on a rights isn't making the Lakers an automatic title contender or any other team for that matter. So what's the point that of playing another five or seven years unless you're just trying to padd stats or trying to add to your legacy that way.
Yeah, I mean, and I guess that becomes the question, right, momentum, motivations and off the field, in this case, off the court, because we tie this back the theme of the night, going back to the cam Ward discussions of you know what drives you to get on the field? Brock Purty playing tonight, you know what are you trying to prove? I know everybody's bringing up the stat trailing or behind in the second half of games. Brock Purty now for his career nine touchdowns fifteen interceptions. We'll push that to the side here, as you know, one of the data points. But for Lebron James, like he's taken all the slings and arrows from the best I use that word very cautiously in our sports media world right for years, most of it made no sense. And on the other side you had the never had done wrong thing said the ass kissing, So you've had it from both ends. But to this point, you don't really care what anybody has to say.
Here, and here's the interesting part.
We bring up Tiger Woods, and I think I'm one of the last ones that actually believes that he could win again because there's evidence over the last couple of years that he's probably not going to. But you know, Phil Michelson can can win a major at age fifty. I'm not putting it past Tiger Woods. So just not doing it. And I think that's the part of it is. I think there are people who just think, like, all right, Tiger's done, Tiger's not gonna win any more majors, So why would you continue to do this? Was there a time when Tom Brady wasn't a super Bowl contender, you know, like in terms of I mean they win a super Bowl and they win super Bowl fifty five and then he comes back the next year, so they're a legit super Bowl contender, end up losing to the Rams. And so that's my whole point is how Brady never stuck around to just stick around at like they were in it. Maybe he could have, maybe he could have tried to get another ring somehow, let another team carry him, but he retired. When he retired, maybe felt the arm was was lost, and I think we saw evidence of that. But Lebron continuing to play when his team isn't really in it for the championship just that's not what other great ones do. So I don't know if and he's saying there that he's not going to play another five or seven years, but to say that he could, well, yeah, I think other people could as well into their deep ages, but they would be what Lebron would be doing, and that would be competing without the goal of winning a championship.
But him Jordan and his wizard's days, right, I mean he was still averaging twenty points. Again, Yeah, I weren't competing for anything other than he still wanted to play basketball. And that's what I meant about motivations. Yeah, right, Because I firmly believe the we're not going to win is very very much in Lebron's life, and I think he understands that. Still holds out a sliver's hope, but I think he's a realist at this point of no matter what they can do, if Finny Smith comes in and they work a little bit of magic, it's gonna take an awful lot because Anthony Davis and he have to stay healthy for this thing to happen. Right, They went over seventy games last year. That hasn't happened.
If Aaron Rodgers was leading the Jets to the AFC East divisional title and playing a little bit better than he had with his one point two total quarterback rating and forty four rating, Like there would be a discussion of like, Okay, do you bring Rogers back next year to try to run it back because you're playing for a championship, But would that be the smart thing?
Would be more of a Peyton man anything.
But you're not thinking about bringing him back to run it back again for no reason. And that's why I think that you're seeing a general consensus now of being like, why would Aaron Rodgers come back next year? It's done, it's over with, And I think you're seeing a prevailing interest. You are, you know, prevailing opinion of that being it. Whether he does come back or not, we will have to see. But again, it's about winning championships when you're at forty instead of just adding numbers to your you know, all the records you already hold.
Yeah, for a lot of other guys, they get retired, right. Elway's body was done, Peyton Manning's body was done. Jerome Bettis made it clear, I'm getting a super Bowl in Detroit and I'm walking away. But generally the body's failed him. Like at this point Lebron to your point, he's been hurt, he's missed some games due to injury. The showmanship of it all, maybe he's not as hurts as maybe gets let on so he gets some extra rest along the like whatever the case is, and massage it to your own needs as that were, Like if the guy keeps wanting to play and the Lakers are willing to just be mid while cashing big checks because of his presence, which everybody wins.
Well yeah, yeah, everybody wins except Lebron's legacy, which.
You're either at Lebron guy or not.
Yeah, it's it's yeah, it's maybe fair with that, but like like Tiger would just to bring it back to Tiger because I think it's apropos. Tiger winning another major does change how we look at him or would think of him. And still like when he won the Masters in twenty nineteen, and now that's going to be six years ago. You know, come this spring, there were people who were saying, now he's gonna beat Jack, Like they felt like, oh, now you've won the fifteenth, now you're gonna go and win three more. Yeah that's true, probably not realistic. And again there are people who feel that Tiger is probably done, but Tiger doesn't think that he's done. I actually don't think that he's done. I still think if you know, there's an opportunity in the right course, in the right place. And again maybe I'm being naive in this because of how you know, far other guys can hit the ball, but him winning another major would change it would be a I mean, it's it's almost the equivalent of Lebron winning another title, at least of I know, it's difficult in an individual and team sport, and when you have four majors a year as opposed to one NBA title, it's not apples to apples. But there is still some greatness that Tiger is going after. He's not just going out there to make cuts. In fact, when he just makes cuts and then finishes, you know, dead last, for those that played the weekend, we kind of go, oh, that's not good. Even if he had a top twenty, we really don't care. Like it's still about winning the tournament.
Yeah, But in the end, he's got to wrestle with his own demons, right. The poison pens and acid tongues are going to be there regardless, yep, And for Lebron James. Look, man, I don't know what he could do that would get folks that are Jordan team Jordan to change their mind.
I just wonder when he does call it quits, because in the quota he's saying no, he wouldn't retire because he can't do it anymore, doesn't love the game anymore.
Whatever, Right, he's still gonna love the game a whole miss it is everything else and went deep into that. But yeah, now it's the curiosity because he got to check off the box. He got Brownie to the NBA. Good job by him. He's Dan Bayer. I'm by Karmen. It's the Jays Smith Show with me Mike Carmon here live from the ti raq dot Com Studios. The only league he does as well, I believe.

All right, thanks mom. Normally, normally all I get is your hair's too long, you look like you haven't slept. Like no, your face looks skinnier. I got the approval of mom.
I thought she just wanted to feed you.
No, no, no, no no. Usually I don't go over there now at this point or or my dad takes care of it when we visit down in Florida. But all of that to say, it's a pretty exciting program that we've become part of. Jason Leersell, I feel a good buddy. Thank you, appreciate it. Bit by bit, we're on the road to on the longer road to greatness, kind of like seeing the Wizard of Oz Week eighteen of the National Football League season. Every year it's the consternation because we're gonna put on our fantasy hats here for a few minutes of whether to use it, whether to punt it. Certainly after the games of Week seventeen, many quote meaningless games right that we're on the schedule, and that's just the nature of the beast, the haves that have nots that we have in the league. Parody is a four letter word, at least for the twenty twenty four season. So you had a lot of games that had fantasy implications, but certainly the teams playing in them had maybe nothing to play for. Maybe you would talk about playing for draft status. Well that didn't work because those teams actually went out and played well and won. I'm looking at you Giants and Raiders. But all of that to say, I want to use every game we can, and it's Mike cliche two seventy two. They go away, and then you're even gonna lament not having a six to three Bears Seahawks affair to watch by time spring training comes around.
I am not there with you. A lot of times we will agree on things. I am hunt on Week eighteen. If there are no playoff implications for your favorite team, do not go down the rabbit hole of figuring out a way to gamble or do fantasy on it. To me, Mike, save that for the postseason. You can figure out a way to still be competitive or to have fun in the playoffs in some sort of playoff format. It'll take you all the way to almost mid February now, So just use it as a break, especially after the holidays, which have been crazy, and you've had a week where you've had five days of football. Just take a breather in Week eighteen. That's what I think it's all about. Week eighteen again my least favorite week of the NFL season. There's no doubt about it, because it just half the games don't matter, and I think that you should take a break as well.
That's the beauty of the chaos of it for me, Dan, is that we have no idea who's playing, who's in, who's out, and yes, to the point of what you've done for a full season could be a sabotage situation, which is why it shouldn't be a standalone championship if you're going to wrangle it into your league. But maybe you do it for draft status, right for the draft. Maybe you do it as a one week contest for whatever there is prize money.
League that's Steve won.
There is a week eighteen contest as well for high points. But then you're trying to pick up all the guys that are you think are going to be.
But the way ever, Wire comes back into play at least for a week now. The other thing I wanted to discuss is that we talk about the playoffs themselves. Right, We've long held opportunities to draft and play it out as a normal season. Well, our favorite type of league now is available in the playoffs.
I was surprised. I didn't even realize this.
The guillotine has been added. Our guy Paul charch In there back in Minnesota. He's made some business dealings Matt Berry and his company and everything else. So they've got, you know, their arms wrapped around it. But he put up on Twitter that guillotine leagues are arriving for this playoff.
I am curious on how it works because there's only four weeks of play and there's a limited amount of teams. But if you can figure out a way, as I've told you what we do with with my fantasy football league is we have our guys just take the fourteen playoff teams and you fill out a lineup with one player from each team with a quarterback, four running backs, four receivers or tight ends, and then four receivers, two tight ends, and then defense and kicker and whoever is the most points.
At the end.
So what it is is it's a little bit of all right, this is who I think is going to do well, but it's also this is who I think it's going to advance. Yes, so you're putting in both of your prediction methods on if you think a team's gonna go to a super Bowl, you maybe want to have the quarterback of that team, so that would be your quarterback. So maybe if you like the ravenst upset the Chiefs. You're gonna take Lamar Jackson in that scenario because you think the Raven's gonna have a nice long run, and it would make a lot of sense to do that, whereas maybe you would leave somebody off to the side if you think you're gonna get upset. Maybe if the Lions are a top seed, they're gonna play one less game, maybe get upsets. So maybe Jared Goff isn't the best all of those decisions coming into play.
No, that's the media of it, right. We try to blend the world's as best we can. Confidence points in your pick sets or or always against the spread. I remember once upon a time folks wanted to do nothing but straight up picking. Guess what, this year was actually easier to pick against the spread, at least it was for me. Then it was picking straight up. The way things worked out even if we didn't have the catastrophes that folks point you, No, no, there were plenty of blips on the radar of crazy ass upsets. Go back and look at the Raiders actually beat this year. Go back and look at some of the cellar dwellers and the number and the teams that they actually scored their wins against they rose up against some of the heavyweights.
Well, and that's you know, the flip set of it. It was us talking about the Commanders earlier. But yeah, you do have those, those sort of scenarios are like, wow, look at the wins like this. Honestly, like the Seahawks, the Seahawks have only themselves to blame for not making any of the playoffs, even though I'd like to blame the refs on Saturday Night for not reviewing that interception call a little bit longer. They lost to the Giants MIC in a home game. You know, they had a field goal block that they were trying to tie it in. Again that really they had no business being in any way because of how poorly they played. But yeah, they're those situations where even even the better teams. You know, the Giants were miserable this year, but hey they're winning. Seattle kept the Seahawks out of the postseason the.
Old any given Sunday rule. All I'm trying to say is you got plenty of football ahead of you. Uh, if fantasy is what you're doing daily, daily fantasy will certainly be out there for from the different providers. Certainly the prize picks and fan duels and DraftKings and everybody in the world. Uh, they've got their different permutations to it. But if you're in a long established league, maybe you've got something that you've you've stumbled upon that works for you. Please let us know. Maybe it's something like the Pete fu Tech Fantasy Football League's going all the way back to nineteen eighty seven, where you're still pen and paper and you refuse to yield.
Our fantasy league that I played with my cousins when I was younger, is on the printer that goes.
Yeah the best.
Then then you had had to tear it off the rip off. Yes, yes, that was the printer.
You guess what you're getting for Christmas next year? And a Reba paper to go with. Yeah, he's Dan Bayer On Mike Carmen, Fox Sports Radio. Jason Smith sew with me, Mike Carmon, All right, let's go through a couple of the heroes and zero's coming out of Week seventeen, because we had just vastly different experiences for fantasy owners. Right, whether you're starting quarterback was suddenly on the shelf with your Anthony Richardson Late sit down to Jalen Hurtz whatever. Looking at the quarterback position, you know most of the usual suspects were up there. Brock Perty gave you a huge game before he got hurt, but Burrow, Baker, Jayden Daniels were all top five guys oh, as well as Drew Locke. Yes, so you got yourself a nice little surprise there. Conversely, Jordan loved Michael Penix, Matthew Stafford twenty two to twenty five and twenty seven respectively.
And I would even say to the effect of Josh Allen unfortunately, was a disappointment. Yeah, compared to the other quarterback numbers that you saw. Now, if Josh Allen's gonna have three total touchdowns, are thinking, all right, I should be good. But yeah, with Baker throwing for his five and the other names that you mentioned, Josh Allen fell down on the list.
More Bjon Robinson again owing to what Michael Pennix's scores were. So you know, you take the good, you take the bad for b Jehon Robinson. That's five straight Monster games to close out the fantasy run for you. Jamiir Gibbs. Here's a stat that was up on ESPN thirty seven point eight percent. That's how the percentage of rosters in championship games were one of the team or the other had Jamiir Gibbs.
Uh interesting, curious to go.
Deep deep dive into more players, but that was the one that stood out obviously because they were the Monday NYE game, so that was the showcase one. But nearly thirty eight percent.
I would also think, I'm curious on what his average draft spot was to start the year. But because you a first, is that a late first, early second? So you're cashing in in that realm because anybody that took Christian McCaffery number one is probably not playing in their fantasy championship game. And let's be real, if you had Tyreek Hills as a top five pick in a PPR league, you are not probably playing in your championship game because you were and not that first round picks make everything. It's just the point of Gibbs probably cashed in, and then the second round pick that you had probably cashed in just as much.
Now off of football, guys, the ADP for Gibbs was thirteenth. Sure, So let's run through it real quick, because this was fun, fun exercise We'll do this more next week as we wrap up the season in total on the I Watch Flex Podcast. But McCaffrey, Ceedee, Lamb, Tyreek Hill, Jamar Chase, Breze Hall, Yep, crushing b Jehan Robinson, I'm on Ross, Aint Brown, Justin Jefferson, E AJ Brown, Garrett Wilson, Jonathan Taylor, Suon Barkley.
Okay, there's a Jimmier Gibbs, there's.
A now Taylor at least the last the weeks that mattered, like really mattered, as long as it didn't torpeer you in the first. So that's the question, right, did his early struggles cost you enough to where he wasn't playing meaningful football for you at the end.
I think that happened to a lot of.
Probably to a lot of folks because it changed your strategy going forward. Gibbs was thirteenth Puka Nakua and then number fourteen Marvin Harrison Junior.
Yeah, I I took that forbidden fruit.
Yeah, I think we all took a bite. Yeah. Last week seventeen kind of fails with AJ Brown based on expectations. Obviously Hurts leaving the game and picket slash McKee h Chan was a bust, and you know you got the surprise huge game out of Elik Neighbors, who we were questioning whether he was going to play when you and I spoke Thursday night.
So Ian Roddy are executive producer of our podcas cast Head Raiders as a streaming deed that ended up hitting Pooka Nicool was my oasis song for they didn't get into the end zone. Had a bunch of catches, yeah, over one hundred and twenty yards as well, but just didn't get it into the end zone.
Now, we had a pretty pretty good run here.
And at least Trey McBride finally came through for those that rode him and his scoreless is no touchdown season finally scores in Week seventeen. If only he had two touchdowns on Week seventeen, Mike, I'd be a much happier camp.
No question about it. At Dan Byron Fox where you find and find me over at Swollen Dome. As we wrap things up here tonight, we're gonna talk a little more college football. We've got playoff games to prognosticate, to speculate and converse about. But first we've got our guy, Steve de Saga for the final time tonight. The champ is here. Thank you go wrap up a big Monday night.
Jamiir Gamson.
The Lions eighteen carries tonight, one hundred and seventeen yards rushing in a score. Detroit won at San Francisco forty to thirty four. Jear Goff three touchdown passes. So the Detroit Lions this season five times now have had games where they scored at least forty points and had no turnovers. Brock Purty four total touchdowns in defeat, but had two second half interceptions. He left late with an apparent nerve issue at the elbow. There were no punts in this game tonight. That is rare in the Super Bowl era. So going back over fifty five years, this is just the eighth NFL game without a punt by either side. Playoffs included. Apparently we had one early this year.
Commander Specs, Yeah, I remember.
So we have a fourteen and two Detroit Lions record now and they'll be playing host to the Vikings this Sunday night in the regular season finale that'll decide the one seed in the NFC. Dolphins quarterback Tyler Huntley will get more reps in practice this week to a tongue of i Looa missed yesterday's win with a hip injury Miami's at the Jets. The Titans say quarterbacks Will Levis and Mason Rudolph will each play against the Texans this weekend.
Music City Bowl nineteen.
Frank Bassouri came back to beat Iowa twenty seven to twenty four. In the NBA Late Games, Sacramento was down eighteen first quarter and still beat Dallas one ten to one hundred six game losing streak over for the Kings. Kyrie Irving of the MAVs was out with a sore shoulder. Joel emb thirty seven points in Philadelphia's easy win at Portland. Cleveland won at seventh straight a victory at Golden State. Denver won at Utah. Nicola Jokic another triple double. It included twenty two rebounds. Clippers won a close one at New Orleans one sixteen to one thirteen. The Pelicans have lost ten straight. Charlotte lost at home at overtime to Chicago. The Hornets have lost eight in a row, and the New York Knicks won their eighth straight a twenty point win at Washington. Karl Anthony Towns thirty two points. John Morana, the Grizzlies will miss another game tomorrow with his sprain shoulder. College hoops Kansas State beat number sixteen Cincinnati, NHL wins for Florida and Seattle.
Back to you, thanks so much, Steve, appreciating congratulations on your thank you, well earned victory missed pas Looming large and Fantasy Realms tonight. That and field goals? How about that? Crazy?
There's always a story, there's that's the great thing about fantasy leagues. And our league still remembers Byron Chamberlain. And there's not many people that probably remember Byron Chamberlain, but he was a tight end for the Denver Broncos and somebody in our league had to start him because he didn't his tight end get injured or whatever. And Byron Chamberlain scored a touchdown on Monday Night football against the Jaguars. So it's Broncos Jaguar. Tells you how long this league has been that that was a Monday night game. Yeah, And Byron Chamberlain is still a story of lore in our NAFL league.
Guess what I'm gonna find you in the boxes. You're gonna be sending Chamberlain cards to people. Damn Byron for Jason Smith, I'll buy Carmen here in the tyre iraq dot com. Fox Sports Radio Studios. Let's talk some college football playoffs next here on Fox.
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon weekday, he said, ten pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Hey, welcome back in Fox Sports Radio Jason Smith Show with me Mike Harmon, Dan byer in for Jason Smith, appreciate him. The Eyewatch Reflex podcast will be up our guys, Shay taking care of things with Ian, the masterminds of the digital tracks, along with our guy Alex Tye Shirt who's made a sound oh so pretty tonight. Thank you to the team. As always, we appreciate you guys. Hopefully you feel the love here as we're at the holiday holiday holiday season, because I can get to go go back to calling you dirty rotten so and so's in about forty eight hours, right, Isn't that the way that works? But anyway, we're getting ready for the college football playoffs. The next round of things are finally here. Dan it seems like it's been the you know, the waiting is the hardest part was the old Petty line, The waiting game sucks. Let's play hungry, hungry Hippos of famous Homer Simpsonism. But we get a number of bowl games tomorrow, starting with Alabama Michigan Bright and Early live from Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida, where you've got a twelve and a half point Alabama favorite status here forty four and a half your total. Louisville Washington will play South Carolina, Illinois, Baylor, LSU, and then finally, ultimately we get to Penn State Boise State. Eleven and a half is the line, fifty three and a half the total. We talked with Pete fu Tech earlier in the program and trying to figure out where, how and why you can potentially spring an upset here against James Franklin and Penn State.
I don't see it happening, but I do want to say one thing before we dive into the quarterfinals, because we touched earlier on the show about you were mad at people and who are saying that the NFL has been bad? And I've heard that people are mad that the bowl games don't have the same feel as they once did, and I loved bowl games forever, Mike, I have not watched any. It is no interest to me. So you would think I would be mad because they're not interesting. But guess what, We're going to have eleven games that are interesting. We've had four of them and now we're going to have seven more, including starting tomorrow night with Penn State and Boise State, and that, to me is the win. I don't care about the other bulls. I just don't. And that's the way it's going to be. But more meaningful football actually has been made because of the playoffs. I've just heard people can plain of, oh, it's ruined the Bulls. Well, the bulls have been ruined for how long? Right, I mean at least at some point I've hung on to the Rose Bowl and people have said to me the Rose Bowl has been dead for years.
Yeah, but I would say this, right, each of the bulls had meaning to wherever your conference was, to whatever your team was, and beyond that, did you worry about the other forty games?
No?
No, no, you didn't. You watched him like if you're a disease college football fan, like you and I and and this year it's a little different. And I don't think it's because of the changes of Nil or whatever I do. I don't. I think it's the glut. There's a lot of stuff going on, and you compartmentalize and you go back and tap into what really is your most passionate thing, or in our case, the thing you're gonna talk about most Yeah, yep, right, instead of trying to track twenty five hundred guys in a transfer portal. Yeah, as to who's showing up and who's not.
And I know that maybe not everybody's as locked in on to the teams in college football and the middle so I'm not as well. But I think we're gonna be watching the festival on Tuesday night, and we're gonna be watching that triple header, no doubt on New Year's Day.
So that's a that's a win for me.
Very excited the next couple of days, a lot of football to watch. You see an upset coming out of any of these four games.
I do think Notre Dame can beat Georgia, But Fetec said, what's really an upset? And I just think not talking about Oregon is a dangerous thing. They're the underdog, but there's still number one. I think that's.
Getting this got a hide in plain sight the entire time, right, Yes, but Gunnar Stockton has the opportunity to make his name. He's Dan, I'm Mike. Thanks for hanging out with us, Enjoy the games. Happy New Year to y'all. Chris Plank coming up in for Ben Mallor tonight
