I want to say, how am I after yesterday? I'm gonna surprise you. I'm good. I'm good because what the Knicks did was they bought a day. They bought a day, they bought a game. Right, they didn't do it. They bought a game. The series could have ended and instead, okay, we bought a game. Now they gotta go get game four because down three to one, you see what happens down three to one coming back from them. Oh, it's fine, but they bought, they bought a day, they bought a game. And I'm happy, but I'm not sitting here with choke gestures with the Pacers blowing at twenty point. I will save that if we win the series. But I'm not. It's they bought a game. They bought a game, they bought a day. It's okay, great, you you found a way back in a game that made absolutely no sense. It made no sense. The Knicks won this game. Karl Anthony Towns has four points through three quarters and then he just hits for twenty in the fourth. Like Brunson doesn't have a big How did they win it? This game? This series makes absolutely no sense. So okay, but that's I'm okay, I'm not insane. I mean, that was insane Jason Nicks fan. But but now I'm like, okay, you know what, we're right on the edge right now. Things things aren't going as we thought. But that's basically what the Knicks did. They bought a game, and now it's all about game four because really you could say, well, they won the one. Yeah, they could go home. No, you don't go home to win three game. You don't go home and then leave it and come back. Oh yeah, we'll just hit fast forward on the button to win three games. Doesn't happen that way, doesn't it? How you go back?
Game one obviously one that was so.
Soul ripping, we don't need to talk about it anymore, all of that, but talk about it.
No Game two, close game you talk about that end psychologically jarring. At times, Karl Anthony Towns was either wearing a cloak of invisibility or he was John Cena and you didn't see it. Game three, for a good chunk of that, he didn't. We saw Shamitt check in and a lot of folks looking at around, going okay, Tibbs has truly lost his mind. Now the synapses aren't firing, and we got some craziness because now the guys are getting extra minutes. Well you get eleven from him, thirteen from right. Josh Hart, who more or less benched himself in all of his comments. Between Game two and Game three, he comes through with some of the biggest rebounds where suddenly he's playing like he's eight feet tall on stilts. Yeah, I rebound after rebound and big play. And for Karl Anthony Town it's like someone activated. You hit the switch on the back. Just be good, Like, how did you get it's bad? You know, kind of a thing. I don't know.
I got four points in the first three quart and all of a sudden taking the heat check threes in the fourth quarter. I'm saying, how the hell did this?
There's like nine memes of him that came out of that fourth quarter, some of the passes, some of the Hey, look at the words that he's mouthing here as he's running up and down the court. He got called for that insane travel And I don't know that I've ever agreed with an announcer more than listening to Stanban Gunny just incredilously going. So that was called here why yeah, like on several foul calls, like yep, I'm with you here, Stan, but all, don't try to break.
This series down because it doesn't make any It doesn't it make sense.
Kalen Brunson sitting on the bench and suddenly there's some activity and the Knicks are playing better. Basketball comes back in, helps to finish things off. Six of eighteen from the field. They're gonna need a better version of him, and he and Kat are gonna have to figure out what their problems are. But you bought a day. You bought a couple of days. And look, the first two games, as much as they may have been jarring, were close games. Right, gave one away? Okay, fine, you rally, you took one back.

But I would say this right, we're watching game four now of this Western Conference Finals, and in game three e that series, suddenly he had a re emergence of Julius Randam. Remember he did a disappearing act in game two. Uh, in this series he came back just fine. So Cat did the same in the fourth quarter. Now put on a cape and wrote it out to a victory.

But where we sit right now, Thunder lead the t Wolves early in the third quarter, sixty eight sixty four. Teal's get a couple of buckets out of the break and again on display is exactly why I picked the Thunder to win this like I picked the Thunder from the beginning of the playoffs, you had the Wolves. You and I are opposite sides of this, But what have I said from the beginning? I have more confidence that SGA is going to be consistently great over the course of this series than I am Anthony Edwards, because ant Edwards still gives you games where you're saying, where the hell is he? Right? Game one was a no show right then suddenly okay, picked up a little bit in game two, Game three, Your blog great, But I told you there's a couple of times a series where Aunt Edwards doesn't show up, and you can't do that again. You can do that when you're playing teams that you have an advantage against that are playing well, but a team like Oklahoma City, you can't have your best player not show up for two of the six or whatever it's going to be. And tonight, An Edwards in the first half took two shots. Man two shots and Edwards two shots, four points in the first half of this game. Okay, there is no world in which it and Edward the next Michael Jordan, the next Lebron James, the next Criptra. There's no world in which which he takes two shots in the first half. What are you doing? Really? I mean, you're lucky you're still in the game. And luckily they were because hey, McDaniel's had a big first half and that was good. And he had points off the bench, now, Alexander, so that's good, right, yeah, And Devincenzo's got a three. You know, you're hitting some threes off the bench. Is what's keeping you in this game? Oh, if you didn't keep turning the.
Dam ball over too, I meant a number of mindless turnovers and sequences. They had twelve in the first half, don't I.
Don't know how. I don't know how the next great player that and Edwards and it's this second game where he's had a big no show the entire game one and now the first half of game two. He does have a bucket early in the second half, but he's taken three shots right now that he's take Hey, take eight shots in the first four minutes. But this is where I mean, really, how do you have to take three shots in the first half. The face of the league doesn't take two shots in the first half of the playoff thing?
Right, It's like I understand the old let the game come to you to a degree. You're in the Western Conference finals, and I can also understan, Hey, you've got a bunch of all NBA defensive players in that Oklahoma City lineup right. We talked a lot about Dort who's getting the tuna run right now. We talked about Alex Cruz, so what he's been able to do. All of those things are fine and exciting, but you need to have a stamp on this game, right You can't say, hey, look what Kat did last night, and I'm gonna do that, but you know, we'll hang around and then all of a sudden, I'll have this offensive explosion because guess what, it may not come.
And you're also not a big guy that can.
Go in and impose your will down low and and force contact, work through contact and make things happen. For Edwards to be this passive, it's maddening. Absolutely, you're a Minnesota fan or you're a member of that staff, You're you're going, what are we doing? Or you want of people that wanted to anoint him as the next Michael Jordan for the last twelve months shaken out of context.
I mean, look when he shoots his jumpers like Jordan does, and he's got the he's got the sweat band up on the sleeve, like Jordan do Dude, George, Well look what Jordan doesn't do that. Jordan doesn't take two shots in the first half of a must win playoff. But look look what he did on on Saturday, right that the first quarter? What was it? Fifteen five and two? Yeah, I just said, this is my game? Yeah great, and this is look and it's not like it's one thing. And I would not rip Aunt Edwards if his first half was he had four points and he was two for twelve from the floor. Take that shot. You know us, You're the superstar, You're support You're trying. He's trying to get into the game. He's trying to affect the game, and my SHOT's not going right. This is where it happens for Shay Gilders Alexander. What does he do. I'm gonna get to the free throw line because it's what I do, and this is how I'm going to affect the game. I'm gonna slow it down for me. If I'm not hitting, I'm gonna play make a little more. But I'm gonna continue to be the score of my teens. I'm gonna get to the line because that's how that's how you do it when your SHOT's not falling. This is Ann Edward's like, like there's there's possessions on offense where I go, Where the hell is he? Like, I'm watching the first half going you wouldn't even know he was on the floor a lot I do it. He's never even in geats, Like he didn't even engage to try to get into the game in the first.
Half, last two possessions down misses a wide open three and now tries to go into the lane and has his money taken from him.
Man, I'll tell you man again, this entire series has played out exactly why SGA is that superstar that comes out and finds a way every It's what the best superstars do. They always find a way to affect the game. And and Edwards had a couple of games in a series where boy really needed more, Boy really needed more, and usually those are ls and that's why you wind up losing the series. Now again, they're lucky it's this close because you are getting a big effort from your bench and and the threes are falling for the most part. But still did I mean, you gotta have this game. You gotta have this game. You're coming out after beating the Thunder by one hundred and fifty on Saturday, where I think the game started out and it was and it was twenty three nothing out of the gate, and now here's a game where it's like, okay, we're doing this again, right, we feel all kinds of confidence.
You know.
The Thunder. The way they talked after game three was, hey, man, this was shocking. We have to do a bunch of things. We have to So you know, they're reeling looking for an answer because they thought we're gonna come in and roll over Tho. It's what we've done the first two games. This way, you come out again, we make sure no no hope for you, and we are gonna send you back now. If your shots aren't falling again, that's one thing, But there's one thing of trying to get in the game and not doing it and then just just hanging out say yeah, I'm good you guys, shoot I'm okay.
But again, most of that first half they shot very well. I mean there was a point where it was, hey, we're at sixty five percent, but we turned the ball over ten times. And so you have a deficit you're looking at. Williams had a huge first half four to six from three point range. Thus far Sga obviously getting his work done. But yeah, we're on the side of the mill cart and for Anthony Edwards and what he has tried to express himself and be part of the action these last couple of possessions. I tasted the milk. It was sour.
Meanwhile, we could see a huge streak coming to an end because my Carolina Hurricanes up to nine over the Panthers shot with thirteen minutes left, they could break that fifteen game Eastern Conference Final. Losing thirteen minutes still a lot of time, Still a lot of time. Yeah, but still it's our first time we led this whole series. Right, all right, all right, so so all right, football here we go. So today some reports that potentially cur Cousins is the Steelers plan B if things don't work out with Aaron Rodgers. Now, first things first, are things really not going to work out with Aaron Rodgers? And we're going to be talking about this.
He's a weirdo, so you know, I mean, like, yeah, he's sure it could go thru He's sure he could completely change his mind down the road. Sure he could decide he wants to hold out for something different or I don't know, sexy or something closer to a rainforest or a jungle or something like that, you know, where he can get all the get all the medicine man stuff he needs. I mean, I don't know how you could feel good about any sort of business arrangement with him. And yeah, I mean, look the Falcons, we talked about this in the past. The Falcons have to get real about Kirk Cousins and what they're doing. And it's salary dumping out a football trade, and that owner to this point has been unwilling to eat what he'd have to eat to get back real assets. So he's trying to have his cake and eat it too. He's saying, I want some money to take all this off my hands, and I want, you know, I want to get back what, you know, what is commensurate with the contract that we take Kirk Cousins and people are trying to tell him that that that's dead money, that that you're not going to get that. And you know, Sam Donald didn't get what he thought he was going to get, and Matt Stafford didn't get what he thought he was going to get, and you know Field probably didn't get it was kind of did okay, Russ definitely didn't get what Russ thought he was going to get. Aaron Rodgers is not going to get any close to what Aaron Rodgers got. And Cousins is more in that you know, sort of bin of quarterbacks than he is the Purties, you know, and those guys who didn't get what they want. So it's an ownership deal. I mean, they could have traded him before the draft. They should have traded him before the draft. But the owner won't eat salary.
But I gotta I gotta think, though, Jay, that as time goes on and Cousins is around the team, right because now we've had time, but yeah, well we t time when Cousins around the team and they realize, oh, this really isn't going to work. That's what's going to happen. But I think what's killing them now is that, well we're still in the off season where were you know, mini camps over waiting for camp to start. But once that happens, it's, oh, man, where we can't we can't go forward like this. This is a real big distract. This is bad for the team.
Well it's just silly, but I mean, it shouldn't take that having to happen for them to be realist about the situation, you know, Like I I I just think they've look, they've been buffoon's about the quarterback position really since Matt Ryan started going downhill, and now this penis thing might have you know, might have bailed them out. We could also add, you know, they didn't need Psycher comes to draft pic that it was obviously a little weird that owner can't get it right at quarterback. He gave you know, Matt Ryan one more extension than he had to, and it's been crazy since then, you know. I mean, these are the same people that didn't want to make a phone call to Lamar Jackson because they had Desert Rider that's a fact. So yeah, I don't know how to handicap that, because you know, it's when it's a billionaire who doesn't want to cut out, you know, five six, seven, eight million dollars off of a contract to trade it. It's kind of like you're not pregnant until you are. And the fact that they would need to see the dysfunction in their quarterback room with their own eyes to know it exists also seems silly and myopic to me and shortsighted. But you know, look, I don't think he's gonna be there week one, whether that's traded in the next two weeks to Pittsburgh, or traded right on the eve of training camp, or traded when somebody gets hurt somewhere in training camp. It would seem kind of silly to have that dynamic with the backup making twenty times more than the starter sitting on the bench waiting to see if the kid fails. That just doesn't seem to me a lot of sense.

It's like a punch of the face, like, yeah, I remember those conversations all right now, let's let's have a little bit of fun, the fun and exciting world of flag football, and now the complaints of hey, we want to get a real shot. Can we get a couple of open tryouts and workouts between NFL players and the would be professional flag footballers.
I mean, I have so less than zero interested in this. I gotta say, like, am I maybe I'm on an is on here and it's just I'm getting home, you know, I'm on the other side of fifty now, and I like this whole thing just seems like the biggest crock of like PRBs I've ever seen in mine. Like the NFL is gonna get enough publicity. Now we want to get up a fake controversy to get even more time spent people bloviating about us to people have used comments as anymore in the old my newspaper background, I guess there's no comments just whenever on the web, which is unlimited web space, like just wasted on this faux controversy, Like, I mean, who the hell else in the world is playing any degree of football in any way, shape or form that like we would have to go out and like through our superiority.
It's gonna look like the Dream Team the first time they played in basketball in ninety two.

All right, so I didn't know how much I would enjoy this, but I am enjoying it very much because this is the earliest quarterback derby that I could ever remember paying attention to with everything going on in Cleveland and the way that Stefanski says, well, it's going to be Flacco and pick It are going to compete, and it's gonna be Sanders and Gabriel gonna compete in and every day it's here what Sanders does in seven on seven? Like I didn't know how to feel about it, but I can't get enough of it, man, because we have a quarterback derby going on and it's May and that's fantastic.
Yeah, it's it's gonna be a different level of scrutiny now and I and look there is there's They don't get to have these guys on the field unlimited time, Like we all know two a days got done away with a long time ago, and a lot of these drills like they're special teams and there's special situations that's only going to really involve the starter. So like the three other quarterbacks, like there's not that much work to go around, Like you have time constraints, you have things you're trying to accomplish certain sessions and more geared towards the defense, and they're gonna want to be tested by the ones like that. There's a lot that goes in today, so you know, there's only so many snaps, there's only so many reps, there's only so many hours in a day, and there's only so long you can keep them on the field. So yeah, everything will be obsessed about and everything will be picked apart and dissected, and yeah, it's kind of interesting. So I mean, I don't know any of them are any good, but I like, I don't know that i'd want to go to war with any of them. Like Placco to win like one playoff game and he's totally rested and comes in off his couch. Yeah, like Flacco for week one to try to help me navigate an eighteen week gauntlet.

When when this first broke and it's on social media, well, because nobody knew she was hurt, she finished the game, she was upset about not getting a foul call at the end, and it's like, okay, it's like whoa. People devastated for Caitlyn Clark, devastated for the league, devastated Kitlyn Clark as well. This is a two week quad injury, right, this is not where hey, hey, she's done for the seat, Like you know what reminded me of It reminded me when Brady got hurt and he got knocked out for the year, when he had the when he had the acl tair back in twenty eleven. Right, I want to say in two thousand and eight, it might have been when Matt Castle had to come in he got when he got hit in like week two, right, somebody And I can't who it was. Yeah, oh man, I remember what. Oh no, it was hang on, you said, Jeff. He was holding on to to Tom Brady. It was so whoever it was was somebody that did it a couple of times hurt, a couple of different quarterbacks that came in low and injured. And Brady's out for the year in like week two, and you're like, sorry the Chiefs, Yes, Bernard Paul. So he gets hit and he gets knocked out for the season. It's whoa Brady is. This is the middle of Brady's run. Is the best quarterback on the planet. And the shock and oh my god, we're losing him. It's the whole season Brady is out, Matt Castle comes in. It was actually the last time a team won as many games they did in the regular season didn't make the play I think they won eleven game that didn't make the playoffs. But that was the reaction for Kaitlyn Clark today. What's gonna happen? What games is she missing? Like, we don't do this if Lebron is out, we don't do this when Giannis is out. There's when Brunson or any other big stars out. We don't do it in the NFL when guys. But suddenly it's whoa Caitlyn Clark? If anything, that should tell you how that she's the biggest star in sports right now, not the big star in the WNBA, not the biggest star in basketball. The reaction to her injury should tell you everything. We can talk about TV ratings and what her games are doing compared to NBA playoff game. We could do that till till you're blue in the face, and Kaitlyn Clark is always gonna win. But you want to see just the reaction on the on the street of what people think when this story broke today. We had all the estimates of what she means to the league, and start going down all of those path Sports Business Journal and all the Supruter film of what play did she get hurt on? There she is at a time out and it looks like she's got you know, a heating pad an apparatus fixed to her leg, going back to the quad injury she had in the preseason.

You know, really as much of a deep dive as you're gonna get, but certainly a lot of people gripping going. It's only two weeks, right, right, Please only be two weeks. When you talk about the number of nationally tell games that you've had with the fever, the number of arenas that have been sold out, right, talk about it with the Atlanta Dream and some of these other games where you're getting massive gait. Now those tickets are sold, those aren't going away, and you've got other stars to sell. But let's call it what it is, what stirs the drink for this league. And you know, when we talk about the pantheon of women athletes right now, she's sitting alone, right even with all the individual sports and greatness that we see across Olympic sports, across tennis and whatever else. Caitlyn Clark rules it all. So any injury that takes her off of the playing field for any length of time, it doesn't necessarily mean that that magnifying glass goes and finds another star. Plenty of great athletes and stars across the WNBA, oh yeah, make no mistake, absolutely, but they're not the same. Come on, Angel Reese is gonna put the league on her backs. Look, man, I saw the graphics someone put on on social media. I want to give for its off to rediscover it. But it was shooting percentage for Angel Reese is thirty five and change, and it said trying to make her shots. And then it had Jontay Porter, who was suspended forever for fixing games, and he had a higher field goal percentage.
If you really want to have a conversation about Caitlyn Clark and best players in the game making, Caitlin Clark and Asia Wilson, Right, there's Kate, Caitlyn Clark and Angel We told you a year ago, and everybody else needs to be jumping on this now. Angel Reese is Dennis Rodman right, she's Dennis Robin. She's a rebounder, and she's a big star, and she's a star off the floor, and she's someone that has a lot of fame. She's not nearly the player. Caitlyn Clark is right, if you want to have that conversation, that's really where it is. But congrats everybody else. It's coming around to this a year before we did. Natalie took it a year.
I mean, what are you gonna do.
The other thing I will tell you is this is that by game I thought it would be earlier, but by game thirty ish in the W, the Fever will be generally considered the best team in the W. Right now, they may not have the best record, but they made a lot of changes to their team. They only brought back five players, right, you have some players they are still trying to figure out their way in.

You still kind of got to Euston, Natasha Howard and Dwanna Bonner. You have a lot of moving parts.

And so you saw them play this game Saturday. They should have run away from the liberty, but the liberty of the champs, and they knew how to close a game. And clearly the Fever are still trying to figure that out with their new players, their new situation. I'm not saying, Look, they lost the game. You can't complain about fouls at the end. Not a foul on Kaitlyn Clark on the final play was a steal. The ball was taken, legit. You can't see her playing out Yep, it was, but you could tell, Hey, these are the champs and this early in the season, the Fever were running them out of the building. But again, because you're the champs, you know how to come back in this game. You know how to lock down of what they needed to do, and the Fever are still figuring it out. But once they do, and how Kitlyn Clark will probably miss the next five ish games, So give them another fifteen or so games, get into the the last third of the season, and the Fever be considered the best team in the WNBA. They added so much talent. It's another year of dominance for Caitlin Clark. Now it's gonna be a little bit more because you have the new players just trying to fit in and now Clark's not gonna be on the court for a company. Shouldn't be that long. When she gets back, but yeah, okay, go, so another fifteen to twenty games after she returns, and then you're gonna see the Fever will be the best team in the w
