It’s just three weeks to polling day for the local elections. Five years on from the most recent count in 2019, however, Irish politics has fundamentally changed. Taoisigh and party leaders have come and gone, and we have witnessed the rise and fall in popularity for Sinn Féin. Increasingly, over the last few months, migration has become a contentious issue in local and national politics, with huge swathes of politicians witnessing instances of intimidation and abuse while on the campaign trail.
