The Albanese Government is actively considering changing copyright law so that artificial intelligence companies can train their models here, by ingesting all of human knowledge. The idea is to make us all more productive, and supercharge our economy with a data centre building boom. But to get there, Anthony Albanese would have to break his promise to musicians, artists and writers to protect their copyright – and back down on his vow that all data centres should run on green energy. Would the compromise be worth the pay-off?
