Free State police are investigating the deaths of two young girls, focusing specifically on the food they consumed in the 24-hours before they died. The girls are aged three and four and posts on social media claim the two died after eating snacks bought

Commemoration, Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development,
Mmamoloko Kubayi, delivered the keynote address as the nation also
launches Anti-Racism Week 2026.

officially handed back the Djidji Ayôkwé, a sacred ‘talking drum’ looted
in 1916 during colonial rule. Once used by the Atchan people to
communicate across villages, this massive carved drum is more than an
artefact—it is a voice of heritage.

✓ Did we know, Ma Afrika, that on the morning of 21 March 1960,
Professor Mangaliso Robert Sobukwe, founding President of the PAC of
Azania, left his home in Mofolo, Soweto, and began walking to the
Orlando police station? Along the way, small groups joined him—
ordinary men and women stepping into extraordinary history. That walk
became part of the chain of events leading to Sharpeville, reminding us
that courage often begins with a single step.
