1. South Africa – Copyright Amendment Bill
South Africa's Copyright Amendment Bill has been approved by Parliament but
is still awaiting the President's signature after years of delays. Musicians say the
law is needed to better protect them from exploitation by collecting societies
and ensure fair compensation for their work.
2. Comoros – UNESCO World Heritage
UNESCO has added six ancient medinas in Comoros to its World Heritage List,
recognising their rich cultural and historical significance. Dating back as far as
the 12th century, the sites are expected to benefit from greater protection and
preservation.
3. Did You Know? – Zambia
Did you know Zambia is a landlocked country in Southern Africa, bordered by
eight neighbouring countries? Formerly known as Northern Rhodesia, it gained
independence in 1964, with Kenneth Kaunda serving as its first president until
1991.
