impact — a sound born from struggle, truth, and unity. The month also
honours two giants of the genre: the Crown Prince of Reggae, Dennis
Brown, born February 1st, and the King of Reggae himself, Bob Marley,
born February 6th.
✓ Did you know, Ma Afrika? On this day, February 1, 1974, tragedy struck
even beyond our borders. While in Botswana, freedom fighter
Onkgopotse Tiro was filling out an application to continue his studies at
UNISA when a student handed him a package — sent, they say, by the
International University Exchange Fund.
